Non-baggy jeans for men-do they even exist?

I am so sick of trying on a supposedly "slim cut" pair of jeans and seeing it hang off my person in a truly ridiculous manner. I mean, I realize clothes manufacturers must feel they can charge more money if they include more fabric--this has to be the reason Diesel jeans are at least $125 each, right?--but maybe they shouldn't call it something it's not.

Right, so any suggestions on slim cut jeans for men that are actually slim?

Diego Hadis (dhadis), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

eat more.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Or buy a smaller size.

bnw (bnw), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, Diego, just buy small. And try something with a boot cut or flares, as that will balance any awkward downward tapering you get from going a size or two smaller.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Shop in the women's section, it's where all the good jeans are.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

ile: where the smart ass answer is usually the correct one.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

levis. straight legs. buy the stiff ultra blue ones. they last forever.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, "Ask a stupid question..." I guess.

I tried going a size down, Nitsuh, it's just that either I can't fit in the next available size down, or it's still too baggy in a weird way. I'm convinced I just haven't found the right cut. And the women's jeans are an option, but they're usually cut to make room in the hips and less room in the crotch. I suppose I was asking if people could suggest actual brands and/or cuts.

(But maybe I should stop worrying about this and just eat more...)

Diego Hadis (dhadis), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:47 (twenty-three years ago)

at the gap? i have a friend who works there and wears jeans that are not baggy. they might be boot cut but i don't know, anyway they look nice and are overpriced.

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, wear women's jeans! Particularly women's flares! Sexiest possible thing on a man.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate tight jeans because they look silly, also I'm so used to wearing jeans with bootcut ends that I have a foot paranoia about normal skinny ended ones.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 October 2002 18:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate boot cut jeans, if I wanted flares I'd buy flares!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I like flares too, but they are difficult to get I find.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:06 (twenty-three years ago)

or rather, you don't

running away quickly (tracerhand), Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

opps, I didn't mean my last post to be so hmmmm aggressive!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

are the "wear women's jeans" comments sincere? I can't tell.

Stuart, Thursday, 10 October 2002 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

You could try vintage jeans too, they seem to be cut a lot smaller/tighter than new jeans.

hugeass, Thursday, 10 October 2002 23:20 (twenty-three years ago)

if u r interested even remotely, in looking not fat,
not like bricklayer, and not like a tramp (in the uk at least)
u cannot buy decent jeans at any price anywhere.
i loathe buying trews more than anything else.
this is why, despite having been shopping 3 times, *and*
buying a new pair of jeans, i'm still wearing levi's with
holes in from waaaaaay back
cause they r so ace. hey - i sympathise diego i really do.

'men's fashions' : an oxymoron in england.

men who get 'their' women (note inverted commas for
sexism allegation avoidance) to buy their clothes for them
- classic or dud ?

piscesboy, Thursday, 10 October 2002 23:53 (twenty-three years ago)

a guy i work with has a pair that really bother me. not only are they almost skin tight, but the front of them is made with this darker fabric so they are like two-tone. they bug.

ron (ron), Friday, 11 October 2002 00:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, here's the answer: Levi's 501s. It's Levi's slimmest cut, and if you buy your actual waist size they won't be baggy. Trust me.

Sean (Sean), Friday, 11 October 2002 00:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I (sincerely) recommend women's jeans (haha, because all of mine are). Opshop/market-day flares = k-r0xx0r (mine have dragons on them!).

Ess Kay (has hips like cinderella) (esskay), Friday, 11 October 2002 03:56 (twenty-three years ago)

flares indeed. hrmph.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 11 October 2002 05:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmm, Melissa could you possibly be refering to Jonny G in your post?

leigh (leigh), Friday, 11 October 2002 09:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it bagginess round the ass in particular that bothers you? Cause that was always my problem. I've found that designery jeans and my new Caterpillar ones seem to fit best.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 11 October 2002 09:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I second chicks jeans. Best fit I've ever had.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 11 October 2002 10:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Isn't there a lack of crotch room?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 11 October 2002 10:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that a pressing concern Nick?

Lara, Friday, 11 October 2002 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Somehow I doubt it.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate you all.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Some chick jeans lack crotch rooms, but mostly it's ok.

The main inconvenience is that the zip is often too short to get your wanger over the top of, which means using cubicles if you go to a public loo.

Sofa King Alternative (Sofa King Alternative), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Or just getting piss all over your pants, which is also an option.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:20 (twenty-three years ago)

The bottom of the zip/angle tends to compress the Urethra Franklin, making getting any piss out a difficulty, leading nearby men to think you are gay

Sofa King Alternative (Sofa King Alternative), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:25 (twenty-three years ago)

...and thus kill you

Sofa King Alternative (Sofa King Alternative), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick hates it when people question the depth of his concern for the welfare of Pete's crotch.

Graham (graham), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Jonathan Richman claimed his bum was too small for most jeans but Wranglers fitted him. He is often the voice of wisdom, and I've touched his bare chest, so give his advice a try.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 11 October 2002 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't know there were any non-non-baggy jeans.

</high-pitched falsetto voice>

o. nate (onate), Friday, 11 October 2002 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree with Jonathan/Martin, though I have a normal sized bum. My better half ( = my legs) is wearing these Wranglers right now and it is very happy.

If anyone knows their tight-fitting jeans it is cowboys and these are approved by the PRCA.

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 11 October 2002 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

501s: specially designed to make you feel like the only person in the western world with actual honest-to-God buttocks.

piscesboy, Friday, 11 October 2002 21:30 (twenty-three years ago)

if you want tight jeans, then you are gonna have to pay some money. They seem to be the fashion right now, at least in the US, or at least the parts of the US that have fashion. Designer stuff is the tightest. I have a pair of Hugo Boss jeans that are just right. I can walk long distances in them, but there is not an overabundance of material. I tried on some Dolce and Gabbana jeans, just for fun, because they were at least $200, and I wouldn;t spend that much on jeans, but they were very tight. I couldn;t even get them on but they were in my size. so look for designer stuff, european, esp. italian. sometimes you can find it for cheap.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Friday, 11 October 2002 22:15 (twenty-three years ago)

have i mentioned that you can all eat my non-skinny ass?

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 11 October 2002 22:39 (twenty-three years ago)

eight months pass...
Yeah man i know excactly what u mean. unfortunatelt i hate to break it to you, but here in the US u really wont find any cheap tigh fitting jeans. i seached everywhere and i only found then in the UK, unfortunately not many stores ship them here. and when they do the price of these jeans go too high for common sennce, i mean who really likes spending 150 dollard on one pair of jeans that u'll probably wear once a month unless u plan to wear and wash them daily but that's not even fashionable not to mention really nasty (cause after so many washes the fabric tears and faddes to unmentionable colors. lol. anyway my suggestion would not be to go broke for a pari of jeans but make your own or just have them tailored a bit. The other obious suggestion would be to wear girl's jeans, but as i have thought about it unless you have a good exuse, people will give u a wierd look as you sort thru the glitter pants asking the manager if they have a size 6. lol. so either take my advise on buying Levis 527 jeans the (lowrise bootcut) and then have them tailored slighty. dont do the Gap thing as their jeans are aimed for men who dont have asses or thighs or stomaches.

josias l, Sunday, 6 July 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe it's a product of spending my teenage years in wide-leg skater jeans, but how in the hell do you wear tight jeans?

They all fit fine, but it feels funny, and the lack of crotch room is uncomfortable as hell.

The whole 6'1" 195 thing might factor in, too.

Best jeans right now: Old Navy boot cuts (!!!) and Bullhead "loose." Both less than $20 a pair.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 6 July 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Funny, I found a pair of black, tapered, heavy-metal jeans for a reasonable price. All my friends hate them. This makes me smile.

Anyone want REAL 'form-fitting' jeans? They are hard, but not impossible to find. Remember the Levis 506's? They were discontinued from production in I think 1992. I've bookmarked eBay's -Men's Clothing; 506, and I have had rare but fortunate luck. The 506's are "The King" (or queen). They leave nothing to the imagination to the front or rear! Patience is a virtue.

RicHodge, Sunday, 28 December 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

To Refine My Last Statement: I feel that the 506's do NOT necessarily make any guy look effeminate, but they really make a guy (especially with a slimmer build) accentuate their body shape.

RicHodge, Sunday, 28 December 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I found the perfect pair of jeans in a CCAPS (Columbia County Animal Protection Services) thrift shop in Magnolia, Ark. And it only took me 30 years. The brand: Chuck Norris. No shit. They're tight but real soft and stretchy. For doing karate kicks and stuff, I'm guessing. And there's this strange reinforcing patch of denim in the crotch that we've dubbed the "mangina." Chuck Norris jeans! What'll I ever do when these fall apart?

btw people who wear their jeans too tight look like fucking tools.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 28 December 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, someone mentioned Levi's 501's upthread, and yes, they are very slim-cut...I am a women's size one (25/26 waist) and can wear my dad's 31/34s without them looking too baggy on me at all! (they don't look tight on him though, but this is probably because he's quite thin from having polio as a kid.) Unfortunately 501s (original shrink-to-fit) are only in limited production and most places don't carry them anymore. Here is a place where you can mailorder them, though:
http://www.langstons.com/levis174jeans.html

Several classic styles on that page!

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 28 December 2003 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't say I've never looked like a tool, but my jeans aren't too tight. They just happen to fit.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Sunday, 28 December 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the real question here is why do you want such tight jeans in the first place? Unless fashion sense is hereditary & this is Nature's wonderous process of Natural Selection is at work.

petra jane (petra jane), Sunday, 28 December 2003 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Non-baggy, non-baggy.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 28 December 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I had a great pair of old 517s once and when I was at a party one time my friend was for some reason really enamored with some Vangelis tune, like, "Monkey Dance" or some such, which I thought was just hilarious and I invented a dance to go with it that involved bouncing deep knee bends and I totally blew out the ass of these great jeans. I was a little forlorn, Jeanne. But all good jeans must pass.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Sunday, 28 December 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew, dude, that was so sexual, I can't even begin to process it. ("monkey," "bouncing," "deep," "bends," "blew-out-the-ass" etc.) Utterly fantastic.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 28 December 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, baby. Me and you and my jeans with a little Vangelis on the stereo, a little hunch punch runnin' through our bloodstreams. An exciting pleasure world.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Sunday, 28 December 2003 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

does express for men exist in the uk? they have non-baggy jeans, but they are way expensive

maura (maura), Monday, 29 December 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

caveat: the current (Fall 2003 - Spring 2004) design of 501s is probably the biggest/largest silhouette in 20 years (since ~1984).

also: late 70s/early 80s silhouettes of 505s/506s drainpipes are the slimmest of the cuts since the '46-'48 and '55-'56 501s.

all should be available in vintage clothing shops worldwide*, ask a knowledgable buyer for assistance.

*or try vintage.levi.com every couple months for pricy reproductions.

I've developed the foot-consciousness phobia thing that Ronan mentioned above. If I don't wear jeans with some sort of widened end (by which I guess I mean boot-cut, since I'm not quite brave enough for flares) I feel like my feet are sticking out and too prominent and then I start getting even more paranoid about the way that I walk than usual and then I crawl under the bed and live there forever crawling out only at night under the cover of darkness to empty my texas catheter. Sob!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Thursday, 15 January 2004 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd recommend Levi's 517s, they are boot cut but relatively form fitting in the thighs and waist (tho not really tight), and can be had for about $35 or so.

I also prefer some width at the end, even regular 501s seem too tight at the ankle. Tapered jeans should really just be avoided.

tyrese (andrewmorgan), Saturday, 10 April 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck diesel. i have had way more luck with energie. this is the men's jean line for miss sixty. the selection isn't as wide (washes or cuts) but all the cuts are fantastic. also they price point is about 10-15% lower than diesel's.

i recommend: the loose morris, the regent and the major.

vahid (vahid), Saturday, 10 April 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Can guys go and shop in the womens section without lookin a tad o I dont know gay? I really would like to wear tight jeans but i think if peope saw me shopping in the womens section and not to mention buying a pair of womens jeans it would be like suicide.

arnold, Tuesday, 13 April 2004 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i think the energie guy said that he started the line because he saw men were buying and wearing miss sixty jeans. so you wouldn't be alone.

actually i bought a pair of dkny jeans off the clearance rack at saks 5th ave because they were dirt cheap and i like the color. i figured so what if the waist is 4 sizes too big, i'll just have my grandmother cut it down to fit. you see, she's an alterationist.

what i didn't count on is that she's been tailoring women's clothing, mainly, for all of her life. this doesn't really come into play when she's hemming trousers but she somehow managed to cut my lovely dkny jeans into women's jeans.

which looks a little bit funny. just a bit. not quite suicide, but it's funny looking. caveat emptor.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

The best fitting tight jeans you can find now that
are reasonably priced are Levi 517 available in
the Drydales Western catalog out of Tulsa Ok, but
are not western looking. You will find them to be
the best fitting tight jean around. Also try the
Levi website as well. Hope this helps. They are
the only jean that I wear. I hope Levi keeps them
in stock.

I was in Topshop a couple of weeks ago with a very tall, male friend (he's like 6'7" or something - Dutch) and he was amazed that you can get 36" long jeans in Topshop but the longest they do in Topman is 34".

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a little off the subject, but does anyone know how to get cuffs to stay in place? Mine always start sagging and get wet, shredded up, or just generally look crappy.

Chris H. (chrisherbert), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Robb you said it.
517 is the best but they don't have em in stors anymore. (I bought 2 pair like 2 years ago and unfortuantly I bought one of em bigger than the other one and the bigger one is kinda baggy for me so I don't know what to do with them maybe i'll wait 'till I get fat .... and I've been whereing the other one almost every day (well its all ripped now but still look good ... so buy em if you find them )
Luckybrand has some good shit too. they used to have "Rocker" but now its gone. just go to thier website I'm sure you'll find some good tight jeans.
(I wonder where all this people in Rock and metal bands find thier tight, black, jeans ....)

Adolf H., Tuesday, 20 April 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

517 is the best but they don't have em in stors anymore.

517s should be available at any major clothing retail department store in the USA.

I like the Wrangler (cowboy cut) 13MWZ jeans. They lift my butt up.

C.C., Sunday, 2 May 2004 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of the H & M jeans available in the US are decently non-baggy, - but they're a little more feminizing than I like. Insofar as I end up with big womenhips if I buy a pair that's more than an inch or two oversized in the waist.

The Second Drummer Drowned (Atila the Honeybun), Sunday, 2 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Get a pair of Diesel Zathans or a pair of Dior Homme jeans. Dior homme by Hedi SLimmane and Versace currently has the tightest/slimmest pair of jeans you can find anywhere. Dior Homme is of course the men's part of the famous French fashion house Dior and all of the designs are designed in rockstar ways. When I say rockstar, I am not kidding. It is extremely rockstar. The leather pants you see Billy Idol wearing, is Dior Homme. These will cost you some money, of course since its aimed toward extremely highly payed rockstars and extremely high payed young adults who are into rock looking fashion. Or you could look at versace Jeans Couture. Go to a Versace outlet and you will find a wide selection of jeans that are tight and non baggy. In fact, I think everyone makes a pair of jeans that are non baggy. I think I might only have one or two pairs of baggy jeans ebcause that is the cut they are supposed to have. I also recommend Dolce and Gabbana jeans. DO NOT expect low prices at any of these places though. I recently jsut went to their boutique on Rodeo Drive, average jean cost was around $600. Fantastically cut and fantastic destruction washes and everything too. Look at www.neimanmarcus.com to find a pair that you might like as well.

DolceGabbanaAddict, Friday, 22 July 2005 13:56 (twenty years ago)

Try the Levis 512 slim cut jeans - they aren't as tight as they used to be but tighter than anything else ou there right now! Men in tight jeans are def hot!

RobA, Saturday, 23 July 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

If I want to have no ass, I have plenty of non-denim options. Jeans are *about* the butt, aren't they?

Of course my faves right now are these H&M jeans that are a little roomy in the butt, but somehow give me mad crotch. It's like some kind of optical illusion, or maybe a miracle. H&M could be sainted for this.

Fashionable again?

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Saturday, 23 July 2005 23:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm v. glad this thread exists. The two pairs of blue jeans I have are baggy, and only within the last few weeks have I realized how horrible they look on me. I need slim jeans pronto. My problem is I'm 36-30, so H&M doesn't even make jeans for me.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 24 July 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

levi's premiums! $145 but worth it.

kyle (akmonday), Sunday, 24 July 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

Crazy. I was just about to start a thread about my inability to find non-baggy, non-fucking bootcut goddamn jeans. It's not that I want drainpipes or anything, but what in blazes ever happened to straight leg jeans?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 24 July 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

the only way i could get a decent, straight-leg, flattering pair of blue jeans was to shell out teh bux0r for levi's 511s.

i found what looked like a half-decent pair of black ones in some crappy store for 20 quid ... which ran and streaked like buggery as soon as i washed them. a trip back to the levi's store for black 511s (assuming such things exist) is in order, i feel.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 24 July 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

i tried on some levi's advertised as "straight-leg" and i'll be damned if they didn't look tapered as fuck. where is straight-leg that actually looks straight-leg? they don't exist

phil two OTM about helmut lang - nice fits, they last forever and they're in the $100-200 price range (isn't dior homme like twice that much?)

APC is also really nice but i think you have to try them on, the fits can be sort of eccentric so i think mail-ordering APC is a bit risky.

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 24 July 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

i got my helmut lang jeans at the store closing-down sale. they had huge cardboard boxes of jeans all for $40 each.

http://www.apc.fr - though they have boutiques in london, new york, and its sold in a few stores nationwide. hejfina in chicago, for example.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 24 July 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

I'm at my wits end (or should that be wit's end?) I've found...and bought...straight leg jeans from both das Gap &....forgive me...J.Crew...both both pairs have made me look, to quote my wife, like how she pictures Lenny in "Of Mice & Men". I liked a pair I got from Earl Jeans a while back, but they were (a) fuckaspensive and (b) fell apart Johnny Ramone stylee (which was cool for a little while, until my knees started to get suntanned) in under a year.

What's a man to do?

My other 'alf is six foot 4 and then some, and as skinny as a rake. We cant find a THING that fits him :/ All the jeans are too short, and thr hip area kind of goes all baggy. How the hell do very very tall men get clothes? All the "big mans store" stuff is for tall FAT men.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 24 July 2005 23:59 (twenty years ago)

gap.com carries jeans that are 32/36 and i have gotten levi's in the past that were 31/36.

t0dd swiss (immobilisme), Monday, 25 July 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

u just have to recognize that some of your jeans will be too short and be cute and creative abt it. like 50s flaunting white socks w dress shoes etc. if someone cares enough abt fit to want skinny jeans then they shd be uh fashionable enough to pull off the available options

that said apc jeans come w an absurdly long inseam, like pretailored pants, more than 36

Yeah, I gotta second the women's jeans movement. They're intense and not many guys can pull them off (I usually only wear them when I play shows) but show off everything you got, and if you don't go overboard look damn fine. Just check out thrift and vintage places and try stuff on. Other than that most of the obvious levi's choices look fine.

Hello, I want to thank you all, I was just surfing to kill the boredom of work, and I found your page and I laughed like a kid... Now for the jeans... I stick with the 501s I am 5'11" and weight 145 pounds, I have a slim build... the 501's are not tight but look simply great... I tried lots of brands and models... but the 501 are the real thing, It even makes my small ( but firm ) butt look right.. I am a cyclist so I am thin and slim but firm... I live in Europe and I can mail order them from JC Penney's in the US for a third of the price here in Europe, and also the 501 US jeans are built a little smaller and thiner than the ones here so the fit is almost perfec for me. Good luck

Andres, Friday, 26 August 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

i'm depressed. my Chuck Norris Action Jeans have become shredded beyond repair. i can't bear to toss them as i think they may be the only (barely) surviving pair in existence, but they are now unwearable. sigh.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Friday, 26 August 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

I wear tight stretch jeans, and the best I've found are...

Krew "AR" jeans, slim fit, stretch denim, last for ages.

Wrangler "Roxanne" jeans, not made anymore but if you find some.. they're amazing, thin material but super slim and stretchy.

Levi 805's.. just like 501s, except a little slimmer and stretch denim.

All my jeans are plain, no bells and whistles, all straight leg drainpipes and no weird crap, plain, simple and sweet.

Chris Hemple, Monday, 5 September 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

Why do pre-shrunk 501s cost more than shrink-to-fit 501s?

naus (Robert T), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, screwed that one up...
I mean, why do shrink-to-fit cost more? You'd think that they'd be cheaper since the customer has to do their own shrinking...

naus (Robert T), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 07:16 (twenty years ago)

UK 36" leg jeans bootcut perhaps where to get? aside from gap (crotch-stripes) and h&m (not actually 36", or even close) please help thanks x

Alex in Sheffield (Alex in Doncaster), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 07:34 (twenty years ago)

Wrangler 936 slim fit jeans are usually $20. Levis fucked up the 517 cut a couple of years ago. Girl jeans are allright, but make sure the thighs aren't too curved and they aren't low rise.

Another option is to learn how to sew. There's probably a machine at yr mom's house... just pin them where you want them taken in, and sew along the lines.

barris, Tuesday, 6 September 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

i'm kinda scratching my head about what is SO BAD about baggy jeans. i remember my teenage 80s/early 90s years, w/ near hernia-inducing tight jeans and all -- THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO RELIVE, FOLKS. especially now that i have an expanding waistline!

1. Buy some baggy jeans.
2. Gain weight.

Hello, I wrote you about the perfect jeans then 501 before, but then I noticed something interesting. As you read I mail order my levi's now from the US as they cost less, but the cut of the US sold levi's 501s are baggier than the same size ( 31"x32" ) bought here in Europe. why is that? is a 501 design to fit the fatter american ?

It's so difficult to find slim fit jeans that are *not* cut low on the waist. Just good ol' solid peanut butter and jelly jeans, mid-seventies look, dark blue with slightly lighter worn-look on thighes, slim, tight on the thighs, modestly flaring at the bottom, not too long (brushing the top of the shoes (not wrinkled)). The sort I used to chop wood in, and the type worn by Ian McCulloch in the "Crocodiles" period. Where, who does 'em??? All you can get are jeans that make you look like you've shit yourself.

yeah just go with the diesel zathan 772 jeans. I had the exact same problem they are a bit expensive but they are with it cause you won't have to buy another pair of jeans for about 3 years and you figure how much you would pay in three years of buying bargain jeans and not being satisfied and it equals the same amount.

tight jeans... be careful about the construction of some slim fitting jeans around the inner-upper thigh. some slimmer designs tend to have odd ronald mcdonald bulges just as they reach the the crotch, which dont really make for more room but instead just add odd flaps of fabric between your (i'm assuming skinny) legs. These bulges disrupt the slim look the jeans are supposed to have, and thus look kinda strange. i have a pair that ended up looking like this that i got at h&m, and i tried on the new slim straight levi's model (514) and they had a little of this going on as well.

algie grrr alflowerr, Monday, 9 January 2006 13:35 (twenty years ago)

i personally don't understand why anyone would want to wear skinny jeans. maybe i'm terribly late 90s but I buy waist 36 jeans and wear a belt just so I can get loads of leg room. yeh i look like a clown, big whoop, wanna fight about it?

SISLEY (available at BENNETON) - all very tight fit and not hang-off-yr-ass which is just the job for the new year. about one third the price of DIESEL so go figur.

I found lots slim jeans. I think for levi's it's 516. There's also one in Topman and H&M.

Paolo Halagueña, Tuesday, 18 April 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

Okay, I desperately need a good pair of jeans. I had to give up on guy's pants because well...I'm too thin. I'm 6ft and weigh 120lbs. I've been wearing women's stretch (size 0, usually long or extra long) for about two years but I'm sick of not having pocket and crotch space. My ass looks better, well at least what little bit of ass I have...my thighs are about 15 inches around and my waist is roughly 30 inches. From hips to ankles and I'm about 36 inches.

Size 0-1 in womens are often a little loose around the thighs.

I looked at the levi's 501 and they're a bit too tight toward the bottoms, I like bootcut and flared jeans. The 517s cut was nice but they're just not small enough. Any suggestions?

Oh, and none of that gain wait stuff hahah, I've been trying for years. I'm 18 and I need jeans now, I can't wait ten years.
