I was talking bout ETK, recommended to me on ILM. I don't hate it I guess, the instrumentation is generally very good, but some of the singing is like nails on a chalkboard to me...sounds like me when I make fun of religious singing.

Are you kidding?? Well, okay, I guess I can see how one might be put off by the flat, disaffected tone -- there's nothing whatsoever soulful about Laetita and Mary's singing. But it's such ear candy to me I can't imagine it sounding like "nails on a chalkboard" to anyone. I'd recommend a different album to you, but from what I know about your tastes, ETK is probably the best (i.e., funkiest).
