For various reasons I haven't Fapped for too long - am very keen to see everyone again. Is anyone up for a old-skool pub FAP on Wednesday Aug 24th? I suggest the Glasshouse Stores - all faps I've been to there have been good.

I know it's a couple of weeks off, but I'm not around much before then. Anyone up for this?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 6 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Weds is 25th - do you mean that or Tuesday of that week? In any case, probably yes.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 6 August 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

see you soon.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 August 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe there may be a Club FT the next day too....

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 6 August 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

double whammy

ken c (ken c), Friday, 6 August 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Bit of confusion over dates here... If there's a Club FT on Thursday I'd prefer the Tuesday to the Wednesday, for obvious reasons. GHS is fine with me of course and I look forward to seeing the Good Doctor continuing his DOMINATION of the bar billiards table.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 6 August 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I imagine I'll be on for this.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 August 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too! I want a game of bar billiards! But er, not against Martin or Roccck!tor C plz. Or Cabbage. Or in fact anyone who is better than me. OK I WILL JUST PLAY WITH MYSELF THEN.

dammit!!, Friday, 6 August 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I would really rather it was Wednesday, so I don't have to have a hangover at work! Please let it be Wednesday.

But regardless, I will be there.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 6 August 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there on the Tuesday (24th) or the Wednesday (25th), whichever it ends up being.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 6 August 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure I rank in the top three bar billiards players here - Dr C is best, then Tim, and me and Cabbage would be vying for third.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 August 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant Tuesday - sorry I'm a fuckwit this week.

Could a moderatah pls change the title of the thread to Tuesday 24th.

I'm off to France now, back on ILX 16th Aug. Have fun!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 6 August 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I just realised that I have rehearsal on Wednesday nights now, so Tuesday is actually better after all. Phew!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 6 August 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah, I forgot to post my LTM buys on the other thread for Dr. C! (If you read this again, Swamp Children, Thick Pigeon, Cool as Ice, S25, Tuxedomoon, Cath Carroll and a few other goods.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 August 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll give you a game dammit!! i always hit the cueball way too hard to try and show off and then knock that black peg down.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 6 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I shall try and come along, I have to return that Clea single. Plus, I thought I was thee worst bar billiards player?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 6 August 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I thought you meant skittles with the ball on a chain. I liked the idea of Porky and Martin vying for third place at that.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 6 August 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hello, I'll be at this.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 7 August 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm back and still up for this.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 16 August 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah!

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 16 August 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

bounce

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No wonder I was confused by the day of the week.

Dr. C, do you mind if we do some cancer-cursing at your FAP?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Next week is all looking a bit difficult at the moment so I probably won't be able to make it out after all - sorry Kate/Dr C.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey see other thread!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to go, to the FAP!

the fapfox, Friday, 20 August 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

to, this FAP?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the one next Tuesday.

the bellefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

oh I, see

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Saturday, 21 August 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Boing

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

You mean, the one tomorrow?

Please, somebody, anybody, if you see me at this FAP, stop me from dancing. At any cost. ;-)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

No way!! Your dancing RULES! Unless of course there is no music playing, in which case we might subtly suggest that you stop dancing.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Not enough room to dance in the Glasshouse.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I mean this because I AM STILL IN PAIN, three days later. I mean, the logic "eat, drink, and dance like an idiot because next week you may be dead!" feels great at the time. But my lumps are getting back at me now.

No more dancing until my joints are fully operated on and recovered! Or else PAIN OH NO PAIN!!!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Not enough room to BREATHE in the Glasshouse, never mind dance!

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

eat, drink, and dance like an idiot

at least you remembered to eat first (i forgot dinner and subsequently was so drunk and my head was so hurting)

(whiskey and cokes and later on newcastle browns the following evening fixed it)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

but kate, wasn't it worth it? you looked like you were having SO MUCH FUN!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I was having so much fun. That was the most fun I'd had in ages.

Too bad all that fun wore off right around the time that the pain-killing properties of the alca-mo-hol wore off.

I had forgotten how much I love dancing. When I am healed, I need to do it more often. :-)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

No you need to do it more often to get healed!

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I think my doctor may have something to say about that.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

dance more

the neurotic awakening of kate's doctor (blueski), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be off ILX from now and all day tomorrow, but I will def. be there sometime between 6 and 7.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 23 August 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight then. See you all later. No ILX for me today.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:34 (twenty-one years ago)

YAY, see you later ROCKTOR C!

my full sodding name (hello chickens), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmm beer. I have been contemplating heading down the New Piccadilly for a spot of greasy scran before going to the pub. Anyone fancy it or will I be sad and lonely?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Typical bandwagon jumping! Now there's a 20-year waiting list to get into the New Piccadilly grrr if all you fashionistas had gone there even once in the previous 50 years they wouldn't be having to close down!

Anyway Liz you've got the noble Robster, how can you possibly be sad and lonely?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

ummm, what is 'greasy scran'. you british people are funny.
i might join you liz, since booze without food = pain

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Food is probably a good idea. But what is "greasy scran"? I need to stay sober tonight, so lots of greasy potatoey type food would be a good idea.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz - maybe me! But I might be going to John Lewis to look at yarn first. (They do food in the GHS, you know!) The New Picc is nice. Try the beer. IT TASTES LIKE TEA. I do not lie!

Scran = grub, food, tucker, nosh.

my full sodding name (hello chickens), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Scran = northern word for food

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

its more specific than just northern isnt it? no one ever said scran where i'm from, anyway

david acid (gareth), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahhh. The North. Is it still grim up there?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

There's nothing wrong with Hampstead!

*thank you ladies and gentlemen, my name's dickie henderson, are your cars parked nicely, goodnight, etc.*

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

So you're coming tonight, Marcello?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i may go for a haircut on the way to the pub, i kinda need one...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Hairy Steve! Now is the time for haircuts, so the autumnal breeze can caress yr earlobes, but the wintry winds find no purchase through the regrowth.

I'm most certainly a bandwagon-jumper, also a vile newbie to the world of the Lunnon Caff. The GHS food is OK, but the fabled New Piccadilly has caught my attention and therefore must be visited. The noble Robster would appreciate a trip to the NP, but he's in Portsmouth, hence the sad loneliness :(

Haha I have been introducing N Americans to Sheffield slang? Coo.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm... I might go along to the New Picc after John Lewis expedition... lovely chips sossidge and beans! Or maybe just the stinking GHS because I am LAZY. Oooh. I'm hungry now. IN FACT STARVING. I haven't eaten since yesterday lunchtime and have been magically unhungry... UNTIL NOW!

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell me more of this New Piccadilly.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmmmm lard.

http://russelldavies.typepad.com/eggbaconchipsandbeans/2003/12/new_piccadilly_.html

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz, have a pudding with custard, it'll keep you going for months. Rob, you have one too.

Is it really closing? How sad.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, easy on the baked beans there cowboy! Otherwise, mmmmmmm!

(xpost)

robster (robster), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

CUSTARD!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmmm custard & cake, yum, yum, yum!! i would sooooo be up for this!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm seriously considering a fry-up for tea now.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmm sounds lubberly, although bubble & squeak is planned for tonight!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

how's the house Pinxor? i am not fapping tonight

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i like baked beans. this surprised me, because american baked beans have bacon or ham or something in them, so i never had them until i moved here. yum!

can't imagine i'll make it for food first, unless liz is really desperate for company!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I am now desperate for PUDDING (not really, I have a nectarine) but company would be nice, if only to ward off eek-sitting-in-cafe-alone-awkwardness.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Now is the time for haircuts, so the autumnal breeze can caress yr earlobes, but the wintry winds find no purchase through the regrowth.

That's so poetic! A full length poem on the seaonal appropriateness of haircuts is most definitely in order.

Stuck out in the provinces myself tonite so no fapping.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there. I am not in a very good mood right now, but will hopefully brighten once in the comforting environs of the GHS.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Katie G will be popping along for a few jars as well.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

liz, what time will you be going?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

FWIW, I have seen women sitting in there alone, gorging themselves on PUDDING. For me, they sum up the little-known twilight world of London's PUDDING addicts. You could always get the proprieter to sit with you, he seems quite happy to do that all day.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

blimey, ktee! now there's someone i haven't seen in ages! how is she doing?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Post-footling about in a couple of shoppes, probs 6 or a bit after...? Mmmm the grease beckons alluringly.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

what kind of pudding is this pudding? just dessert in general? or custard?

god, sometimes i wish we all spoke the same language...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I should think (hope) it's good old English stodge, hopefully proper steamed suet (not terribly PC) sponge pudding.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette, have you encountered Spotted Dick?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

You have custard on the pudding, though it could be part of the pudding itself. Pudding = dessert, but also a certain subset of desserts and also steak and kidney pudding which is not a dessert.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

patronising American woman explains English puddings here:
http://egullet.com/?pg=ARTICLE-britpuds

Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It's going great stevem, thanks!
Lubberly pudds, what more do you need to know colette?!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i live here and i didn't know what "scran" is either.. now i do. i hope to come to this picadilly place later... is it going to be expensive?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

What'll probably end up happening is that the NP will generate so much business because of the publicity that they won't actually need to close down.

That having been said, Picasso's in King's Road is much better than the New Piccadilly.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i know that generally pudding=dessert, but was just thinking about 'comfort foods' and really wanted some jell-o chocolate pudding, which i guess is most like custard.

have seen spotted dick. it has raisins or currants or something in it, doesn't it?

quite like bread and butter pudding.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Alls I really want is POUTINE!!! I doubt the Picadilly does that. Wonder if I can walk past the Lyceum on the way to the Glasshouse.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello starts the NP backlash!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Picasso's is the new New Piccadilly!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

on saturday, we decided that rob bolton will start up a poutine stand at glastonbury next year...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob Bolton should start a poutine stand in my kitchen, dammit!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Over to the bumsex thread with you, Kate.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, the puddings are stodge of the steamed variety.

I don't know whether I should say this, perhaps you should look away if you are a pudding romanticist, but they are, I'm pretty sure, those Heinz puddings you get in supermarkets, warmed up in the microwave. Terrible, isn't it? They tend to 'kick in' about two hours after you've eaten them. I suppose that's how long it takes them to set again once you've chewed them.

To be honest, it's only good for a laugh.

But you should still go.

I haven't been to Picasso's, but I'm sure Marcello is right.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

What did I say?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that a new caff called "Munch's" is opening in Chelsea imminently - they have been obtaining the last couple of items for the decor over recent days.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

new carpet?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

You're a scream, stevem.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

ah so that's where it is

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

(x-post to Ken)

It's not particularly expensive, Ken, but not especially cheap either. Bit more than McDonald's but less than Pizza Hut? Can't really remember. Certainly within the range of a man of your means.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you opening a caff, Mooro?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh that sounds great then! i think i fall inside the mcD/pizza hut interim demographic

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm bored, I'm bored, I don't want to be at work, I want to go to the pub NOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i'm kind of bored as well. let's just go.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I just got asked to do more work. Bleah. As soon as that is done, I will ask if I can go. Then maybe, poutine before the FAP! Wooo!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Whaddaya know! I'm bored too!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm the CHAIRMAN of the... oh you know...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The Chairman of Poutine? What wonderous things they have in Canadialand!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

rob, if you're so bored, make some poutine for kate!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

kate-- where's that picture of the delays guy's new haircut? i'm advising ian here at work and sounds like what he's talking about

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No, sorry, I'm not helping Ian with his hair any more coz I don't like him any more. He can go search his own Delays boys haircuts! Humph!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

no, it's for me! i don't want to have to look at that damn mullet everyday anymore!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Alright, just for you:

http://212.67.202.205/~delays2/phorum-3.4.8/read.php?f=5&i=28655&t=28655

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks! he's thinking about it

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

But if he gets that haircut, then I can't get that haircut! Grrrr!

Ach well, I was thinking about getting my hair cut back into The Fringe that Alba was admiring this morning.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

it isn't like the two of you hang out, exactly...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

That haircut will be tainted by its connection with him.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

what time are people thinking of getting there? i was thinking of going to gerry's first to get some gin, but i'm guessing that closes at half five or six (does anyone know?), so i'd be at the ghs by six.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i rang gerry's up, and they close at 6:15 apparently. anyway, i'll be at the ghs around six, though i'll be leaving at nine.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, what time are you lot going to the new piccadilly? i could always meet people there for per-pub milkshake action if you're going to be there instead.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, fuck it, I'm feeling thirsty. I'll be in the pub about 6ish.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there at 5.30 plus whatever time it takes to walk there.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

wait! this NP place has milkshakes?! nobody told me that!!!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

nice one, matt. i'll see you there, no milkshakes for me.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I am going to try a new shortcut across the Hungerford Bridge, so we shall see how soon I get there.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

See y'all at 6.30, unless I decide that not going to the football would make me not a true fan :(

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i want to go to this 'caff' place and eat something greasy first - maybe around 6-6:30 - then over to GHS

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to eat, but I am afeared of the LARD, so I will probably be eating chips at GHS. Unless I go past a Cornwall Pasty Co...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Look, chips are bleedin' FRIED in lard, so you may as well Piccadilly it.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

not all chips are fried in lard!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ecch, that's 'lard' as in miscellaneous fat. It's all grease to the mill.

So, who's up for this NP shindig then? Hands up people.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

is this some kind of bust?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

OOH i had a cornwall pasty on sunday, was very num indeed!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i need a nap instead of food. so i'm out

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, if it's not fried in BEEF FAT OR TALLOW but regular common or garden grease and vegetable oil, then I might be in... Where is it, exactly? Need to work out walking times.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Denman St, right by Piccadilly Circus.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! it's right by it! That's not a problem them. I can be there in the same amount of time - maybe half an hour, maybe 45 minutes, depending on how creaky my ankle is (reminds me, I should take my medication now, argh) - so about 6/6.15 or so.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going if the food is going to be fried in actual lard.

(actual i'm coming anyway)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be there sixish as I will be leaving at 7:30-ish.

(Hmm, my problem with the Nu Picc is that it is too near Chowki's).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Superluminal Pete B!!! He arrives before he leaves!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm there liz - same time as kate (roughly)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, Rob, we are always mysteriously arriving at the GHS together! People will talk!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the (quasi)Canadian element of mystery.

See you chaps at lardery/pub in a bit.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i was wondering if anyone would comment on kate and rob 'coincidentally arriving at the same time'...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you've used "arriving" when you meant "coming".

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

6:15ish

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

*cough*

ok, see you all soon then.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Please crack open your digital cameras and reporting back skills at the Nu-Picc.

That is perhaps unfortunately phrased.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

But I still haven't seen Ken C's pictures from the last FAP!!!

I want to see the one of us making the PURE EEEEEVIL faces!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(My boss has just gone home. Do you think I dare sneak out now?)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

it was me who took that pic - you've just reminded me to upload them...i don't think you came off too evil in it tho

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah! No wonder Ken couldn't find it on his camera! Damn, I was hoping I was all evil. But I'd still like to see it... can you manage to do it in the next 20 minutes? Otherwise email me a link, because the thread will be gone by the time i'm back online...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, that's it! My colleagues have just said that they will cover for me for the next fifteen minutes, so I am a-going to the pub! See you at the P-cafe or the pub or wherever!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

too late for these then, damnit

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

That was a good FAP. I may have been too kind to Reef.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The first thought that popped into my head this morning was "I can't believe we didn't do Kula Shaker vs Ultrasound".

Very good FAP I thought.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

MC Hammer >> Vanilla Ice. Think of the pants!

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

my leaving early to avoid hangover didn't really work, as i came home to find that an old friend from university had come round to dinner. oh well.

are we not going to be treated to a reef set on thursday, then, tom? how disappointing.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

swygart, we were both wrong:

http://politics.guardian.co.uk/person/0,9290,-6513,00.html

syed (british number 1 table tenniser, and also commentator, for everyone else's benefit) stood for the labour party

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 07:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Spotted Dick pudding. With custard. ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeeeeeeahhhhh.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Major ruin here

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

You didn't finish that pudding, you Canuck wuss. I think the jam sponge pudding (avec creme anglaise) I had helped stave off the booze effects, so I feel fine this morning. Can't believe we spent quite so much time debating the relative merits of The Levellers and Afro Celt Sound System.

The second of those Ken/Kate pictures above is truly EEEEEEVIL.

xpost poor Dr C! Have you painkillers handy?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I think there's something wrong with me in addition to an olympic gold medal standard hangover (I can't even think without it hurting). My sense of balance has gone! My joints ache! I am majorly fuXORed.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Many people fall by the wayside in the puddingathlon.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I am also ruined. I blame Dr C.

And Echobelly.

Starry (hello chickens), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

NB I did not have any pudding last night.

I WANT PUDDING!

Starry (hello chickens), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Update - gargantuan ruin has now set in. I have given into temptation and booked Friday morning off work as a precaution.

Dr C's XTRMNTR rant from last night reminded me why I love him so...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't you believe you talked about the poll why i was at home...doing the poll...

actually i am not that sad, i had other things to attend to hence missing fap - currently in the midst of a stressful fortnight including much client work, moving house, stupid lists of my own devising blah blah

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you still planning to photograph every station on the Tube map and put it on a webpage? Go on, you'll enjoy it ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

it'd be especially good if you turn it into an interactive quiz where you guess which station each pic is of (I suppose this might involve photoshopping out names on roundels in some cases!)

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem, it wasn't a formal poll thing, more in the nature of an ad hoc parlour game with a pair of bands (or songs) proposed and voted for around the table. Harmless fun you might say, but I'm scarred for life from having to choose which was the least nauseating between Stereophonics and Goldie-Looking Chains.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

We should have done it as a WORLD CUP! Damn me an my lack of organised fun foresight.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I've still been coming up with them. You may want to steer clear of me lest I unleash Lighthouse Family vs. M People on you...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Walk away from the game, WBS, just walk away. It has untold power to do evil.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I cant BELIEVE "Zombie" beat "Russians".

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

that is wrong beyond belief

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

unless it was 'what's worse?'

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine the mental torment we went through.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

She's Bono, not Larry. And can we really say the same of Sting?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Lighthouse Family are clearly superior to M People.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, jel, you know how we are always polarised...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I ranted?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

see this is what happens when me, pete and tim leave early...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

A real tough one for me would be Primal Arse V The Manic Street Arses. I'm having real difficulty in justifying why anyone associated with either of these 'acts' shouldn't be horribly maimed.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

How about PRML SCRM vs The Dandy Warhols, C?

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Warhols win this one. But they're still stools.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

you've all turned into cmang

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry I missed this. Any news from Kate yet?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Not as far as I know yet. Suzy has gone with her, so maybe someone who knows suzy could text her?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't think the appoinment is till this afternoon.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, that would be why then. Thanks Ed.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sad i missed this too!!

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i went home via the offie and had a drink, the first since the start of may, in Kate's honour.

i also did a recreation of this using the aforementioned pint of cider and a plastic model of grampa simpson...

hope it all goes well.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just leaving to go collect Kate at the rendezvous point. Good luck Kate!

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i managed to avoid all the organised fun at the big table (it looked like some sort of scary ritual) by sitting by kate for the first half and meeting dr. c for the second.

low point of the evening: the pinefox telling me that i'm a bitch in such a matter-of-fact way that i couldn't really debate. not sure what brought it on, though.

high point: ed telling me i should get big foam headphones because i'm so tough looking that nobody'll mess with me. yah!

xpost-- suzy, keep us informed if you can, ok?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh dear, oh dear Tom

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

What a difference a year, i mean beer, makes.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

word. kate's ok! hooray!

emsk, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

good news! Details?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

that's great news. I look forward to hearing more.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Fantastic news!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)
