ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

ok ok but only if they play terry durham and nick garrie

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If anyone FADCT@7PM (fnacy a Dawlish carnival tonight at 7pm) then I shall be in The Brunswick Arms.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

oh wait, indie chicks? go on then

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

rob how is that pub scary?? there's hardly ever anyone inside!! (yup starry the closest one to H+I!)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I resent being objectified!!

(NB I will be there but I haf no emo specs and don't look indie at all, more just a big lump of spod in a potato sack and wellies or something).

indie chick, Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

glastonbury chic!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth-- you should come over and we can streak your hair before it starts!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

That pub is only scary on Arsenal matchdays, when it is packed with lairy pissed up gooners.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, all this talk of pulling really makes me wanna go, but I'm out in London on Saturday and on Friday I have to meet with old friends in Hitchin :-(

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds like it might be dangerousfun

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i've seen police breaking up fights outside the white swan SEVERAL times and there are usually loads of dodgy geezers with tattoos hanging about and generally not a friendly looking atmosphere. mostly drunken louts, etc. and too much lighting in there - it looks like a cafeteria! i would honestly give that place a wide berth...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i take it this is how does it feel at the buffalo?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

(and not necessarily on match days)

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yes steve

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds like it might be dangerousfun

which part? lairy gooners or streaking your hair?

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I have been in that pub. It is rubbish, but not especially scary.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i was talking hair!

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not going near that other thread with a ten foot pole mate...

i'm not sure what i'm doing on friday yet, possibly lying on the couch watching 'lympics because i am an old giffer...

(i'm still confused what pub you are talking about, the c0ck?)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Wetherspoons on Upper Street, innit?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, all this talk of pulling really makes me wanna go, but I'm out in London on Saturday and on Friday I have to meet with old friends in Hitchin :-(

pull them!!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not intending to pull by the way!!! Sheesh!

DL you should come along. Sod this "Hitchin" rub for a game of mugs.

Carsmile: indie needs you!!

satellite of rub, Thursday, 19 August 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the swimmer

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth I kiss you.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

that weatherspoons is one of the most horrible pubs in the world, but I too will go to HDIF if they play Terry Durham.

and the swimmer you say............

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to drink in The Swimmer all the time up until recently - did any of you freeks drink in there before?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, plenty times, over maybe the last year (since i lived round the corner)

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth, the only problem is that i'm planning on being at the hayward from probably 7-10 or so. are you working tomorrow? could do it in the afternoon if you're not. or saturday afternoon if you're coming out to the walthamstow dog bbq.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"dog bbq"??

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I was the guy putting "Shades of Hudson" by U Roy on the jukebox all the time and trying to play 15 Harry Nilsson tracks in a row

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeh - I'm working in sodding Letchworth Wine Rack till 10pm anyway so there's not even a chance now. But if anyone's up for joining me and fellow Ilxor Gregory Henry on Saturday for an illegal dance/rave type shindig is most welcome.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

working friday
not sure about this dog bbq thing
more details re: saturday night rave thingy please
you didnt come to bangface last week!

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah the white swan was what i was talking about steve... if not there at least choose a pub that's cheap and within walking distance from the club!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to go there for at least one bottle of newcastle ale no matter what.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth and anyone else - no details yet. might be going to Messy but no concrete plans till the day (as is the wont of these things). Email me your phone number and I can text you details.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

what's the matter with the c0ck? or were you thinking about a half 5 start?

swimmer and then down the holloway road seems the most agreeable...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

stopping for Turkish stuff from that shop on the corner you say?

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hell we could all meet at my place since i'm so close... i like guests!

mark c - see here for the dog-BBQ (not what you think, i imagine):
we're going to the dogs

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

NYC version:

tomorrow night, I'll be at both the SB/Excepter show at Tonic and the Mighty Robot birthday party. Dudes/chicks should go!

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll come swimming if nothing else

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I shall be up for this. UP = in the mood for attending dirty menks.

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

and we all know how boyler likes an indie disco, don't we kids? ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, sit down...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I don't know about you but I for one am relieved to hear that Boyler has been to some far out places

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh. Go on then.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

So what's our plan... Swimmer at 8ish and then a wander down the Holloway Road...?

i have made some REQUESTS, Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd be up for some of that. Mmm, Litovel.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll line 'em up boys, and you knock 'em out of the park ;)

8ish? 6ish, i'd say...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

guess so! since all you guys love that pub so much!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

(i'm assuming that's ms clarke with the made-up email addresses, yes?)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i shall be smuggling in bottles of nukey brown from the newly referbed The Holloway. fuck the litovel.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ken, you are NOT A STUDENT ANY MORE.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm tempted by the litovel, and yes, sixish (I could bethere for 5 though)

yes, Ken, have some bleeding decorum

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd probably be richer if i had been a student!! (with student housing)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i only buy expensive drinks when there's no choice (e.g. at the b.bar later)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken, sneaking drinks in from other establishments is an ejectable offence, and just not the done thing.

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Also Newcastle Brown is nasty, dude.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Cor crikey and there was me trying to be civilised! YES this is me with the made up email, I can't sodding log in can I, MODS CHECK YOUR MESSAGE BOARD PLEASE!

I will probably be there from 6ish as well then heh heh marvellous. I hear no more Golden Ale though?!

blahb alkh, Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

run my life for me why don't y'all?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

just pointing out pub etiquette, because if pub etiquette disappears, well, the whole world will become a barbarian wasteland

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

why is Bellevue Krief so expensive? And I am a girl for liking it so?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I have presumably not identified what other thread is being referenced, but I take it there is a FAP tomorrow at the Swimmer, from which some/all present will be going to some indie club thereafter? Can someone confirm this, because I would anticipate coming along to the pub, but probably not the club afterwards?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

got it in one martin

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

So what's the club after? Some kind of indie disco?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.howdoesitfeel.co.uk

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds half my kind of place (i.e. Motown and old pop) and half not (i.e. indie). I suspect they will look at me strangely if I try to get in, at my age, anyway. And if we are playing tennis and or table tennis the next day (any firm plans for either?) I will need a good rest.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

It sounds half my kind of place (i.e. Motown and old pop) and half not (i.e. indie). I suspect they will look at me strangely if I try to get in, at my age, anyway.

you'd be surprised, martin.

VERY surprised.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

okay maybe not VERY surprised. but surprised.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

this place has the biggest age spectrum i've seen in a place.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

except for the terrorvision gig i went to which had 14 yr olds in it too

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

p.s. are we playing tennis/t-tennis the next day?? (i'm up for it)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

god. i'm up for everything today, it seems

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the first person on ile to actually love everything, phaps.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

except overpriced beer.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 19 August 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Despite what I said, I'm not sure that lots of old people make a club necessarily more appealing to me.

I am up for both forms of tennis the next day (assuming my health is okay).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 19 August 2004 17:20 (twenty-one years ago)

as ken knows (due to drunken txting) i ended up at the pintpot last night and therefore may just go home tonight because i am both big and a girl's blouse and hungover :(

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:36 (twenty-one years ago)

he did his country proud by singing the national anthem though.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't mean "The National Anthem" by radiohead

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

or the actual "God Save The Queen"

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

although actually it wasn't specified in the text....

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i, in a very real sense, meant it maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Idiot Steve. Karaoke?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, I'm confused. What is going on tonight?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight i think we're going to the swimmer to drink litovel and then go to how does it feel to be loved club to pull people. (and i might have a newcastle brown sometime in between)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

So who is ganning to the swimmer? I am not sure about being a tweeist dancer, but a swimming drinkoh grabs my fancy.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm up for the Swimmer but won't be indie dancing as a big drunken mentalist night out probably isn't a good idea right now. I might also leave the pub early.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I'd worn better clothes this morning. I was depressed when I got up, so I wore all black. I kind of want to go out, but I kind of don't. I wish someone would make up my mind for me.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Black is good for HDIF, Kate. Assume a hoity-toity indier-than-thou expression and you're gold.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Sadly I will not be there to dance like an absolute menko to Love Will Tear Us Apart because I will be eating curry in Portsmouth. *sigh*

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

kate i've decided that you should come and play with us.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

see you tonight!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Black is good for HDIF, Kate. Assume a hoity-toity indier-than-thou expression and you're gold.

That sound you hear right now is Gareth exploding.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i haven't danced to love will tear us apart for ages!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrgh I've got it in my head now and want to dance round the office. Which I could do since The Finn is on holiday, but I'd bark my shins on the shredder or something.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

are you some kind of ninja turtle?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hrmmm. Maybe. We shall see what sort of mood I'm in, in a few hours.

Bear in mind, the two things that are verboten due to lumpage are drinking and dancing. So it might be foolish. But I'm in the mood for dancing, actually.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah! and i can help you take foxy photos.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

But... I'm not looking very foxy right now. :-(

How do I get to the Swimmers from South London? I'm going to have to buy a bus pass, am I not?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

hey! you're going to look so foxy.

where in south london are you?
there might be one bus options.. although bus passes are only £2.50! and that'd enable you to take the bus from swimmer to indie dancing to save the 15 minutes walk

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm halfway between Elephant & Castle and Southwark...

I won't look foxy coz I have no makeup and no jewellery. OK, I don't usually wear either, except for special occasions, but, like, looking sexy for a photo is a special occasion, you know?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the journey planner says 63 to kings cross, then 91 or 17 or 259! easiness!

my photography skills is better than make up kate!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Just do a Magnum face and all will be well.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw Zoolander last week, finally. it felt good when the Magnum occurred.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

But... the 63 is a MAD BUS!!! Ah well, I'm talking about this so much I shall now have to do it.

Ken, I trust your photo skills. After all, you succeeded in making me look not entirely scary in the Cambridge FAP photos.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I doubt that they would let me into this HDIF club. It would be like that bit in Kelman's A Disaffection where Patrick Doyle goes to a disco to try to pull and meets his fifth form class.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 20 August 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Patrick Doyle!!!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i know someone called patrick doyle.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing to do with the film composer. At least I don't think so. Although the central plot hinges on whether he should give up teaching in favour of blowing down a pair of plumbers' pipes he found at the back of the local arts centre one night.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 20 August 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

what did he choose?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Hard to say. At the end of the book he's running pissed through Cowcaddens being chased by police and deliberately runs in front of a bus to kill himself. Or possibly not.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 20 August 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

The Doyle character is 29 and lonely. He has the hots for fellow teacher Alison Houston but alas the latter is (a) already, but unhappily, married; and (b) not interested in having a relationship with him.

He tries to seduce her by inviting her round to his flat one Sunday afternoon where he demonstrates the multiplicity of sounds he can produce by blowing down these pipes.

Now why didn't I think of that?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 20 August 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I might be up for going to the Swimmer after work. Is there a sort of vague time people will head off to HDIFTBL (at which I used to DJ, btw, though I got in trouble for playing "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen), as I expect I'd probably go home at that point.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate just stand next to me, I look as rough as old boots as any fule kno.

Hey look, I can log in again, except er, man I want to change my email address, and can't I just be Sarah again? Waaaaa. Alaaaan?

my full sodding name (hello chickens), Friday, 20 August 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

you should be able to change it in "settings" at the bottom of the page?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

right, I am at Baker Street. What bus am I wanting from here?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 20 August 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

You are a bit early there Mr S, but get the 18 or 205 to Euston and then change to the 91. Warning: there are two 91 stops. You want the one going to Crouch End.

Ricardo (RickyT), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel a bit pinefox, but i can't face reading the whole thread to see what's going on. when are people going to the swimmer? straight after work or later? i'm going to this:

http://www.eatyourownears.com/index_flash.html

but might well be up for a drink beforehand.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

or if you're on the 205 take it stright to kings cross, and then you'll have choice of 91 and 17 and 259 all go to holloway nags head.

Or from baker street take 27 to camden town then change for 29.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a feeling young william is going to be very drunk by the time we get there... if he were to start the swimmer session from such early hours!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I seem to have the opposite plan from most of you - I don't think I will make it to the swimmer, but I will be there for the indiedisco. I'm still stuck on my North Amercian system of going home after work, having a nice relaxing dinner (going to borough market now to get me some VENISON!), and then head out around 10:30-11ish. Plus I'm lazy and I live close to the Buffalo Bar and I have Grand Theft Auto thanks to ken...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Toby what/who the hell is DJ MANITOBA RADIO SLAVE CLOR?
It's not my Toronto comrade 'Manitoba' (aka Dan Snaith) is it?
Probably not. I'm always amused when people utilise my homeland's funny sounding province names...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

So long as it's not "Winnipeg Jim" (or whatever that guys name was that they were gossiping about at dinner on Tuesday)...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob, I think it maybe, Clor and Radio slave are new signings to... oh crap I've forgotten the name of the label, but the bloke behind EYOE was bigging them up in Time out. I quite fancied that night but now I'm not up for going out at all

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

rob i thought about the same plan (except less classy... sit home and drink newcastle brown and then watch WWE and get a kebab). but i guess swimmer is right next to my house pretty much.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

cool - since it looks like it is just 'manitoba' then toby you'll enjoy it. dan's dj sets are usually really good.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Is everybody bunking out on the Swimmer now? Oh no! Coz I am about to go to the bank and buy a bus pass and all that! So please tell me you're still going!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

we're all still going kate!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not going to be another infamous ilx turnout collapse (like the FAKA thread plans which collapse every single time like the england batting order)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

If no one ends up coming out, then I *will* take up a collection on Tuesday to cover the cost of my bus pass! ;-)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

cool - since it looks like it is just 'manitoba' then toby you'll enjoy it. dan's dj sets are usually really good.

ha, they are indeed. do you know him?!

toby (tsg20), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I am back from the bank, armed with a bit of cash and a bus pass.

I was going to say "man, I sure hope that there are dirty dronerock boys there!" but then realised that I met both Joe and Horton at the Buffalo Bars, so that would be a SUPREMELY bad idea. Sigh.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, I hadn't set out yet. Not just yet anyway...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 20 August 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't want to be here right now. I want to be down the pub already! When can I leave?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

blimey, i almost feel like a pint now, this can't be right can it? is anyone going to be there before 6?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 20 August 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

do you know him?!

nope. but my friends do. toronto's not that big a city, really...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope to be there before 7

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Depends on the busses, really...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't think I'm going to make it any more :(

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm heading home NOW. whoever gets to the swimmer give me a call and i'll be there.

OR if you fancy a cheap pint/bottle of Newcastle Brown at the newly refurbed The Holloway first, and play pool, even better!!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

oops i mean "referbed"

ken c (ken c), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am leaving in about two minutes. Just as soon as I finish downloading these new Delays photos of Greg looking k-rowr in his new ILX glasses... ::drools::

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I shall get my hair cut like that. What do you think?

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate, when mullets were hella unfashionable, did you still fancy boys with them?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I was actually going to come to this as I live in the area - but the general shittiness of the human race has plunged me in fathoms-deep despair

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not a mullet! It's this weird sort of bowlcut-french line mutant thing. Can't explain, but I love it. There's better photos... he just looks particularly luscious in that one.

x-post, NO DADA, DON'T DESPAIR!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It's NOT a mullet:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/nyummission99/mtvgreg.jpg

Please don't cancel, people! This is the first time I'm going out in ages! Barry, don't be a bum!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Fathom-deep despair's is wrong, Himalayan-peak annoyance is more like it

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Screw the pondlife comments! Come drinking! That's it, I'm off, coz it looks like rain is due any second...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

he looks like you Kate

it would be cool to meet Dadaismus - remember when we didn't like each other? heh

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Stevem, I KISS YOU!!! (but not in a kissing game sort of way.) That is the nicest thing that anyone has said about me in a long time. Thank you!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Who said I didn't like you? (xpost)

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

You presumably still don't like me, as I never got a reply to my apologising-for-being-an-arse email.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

What email? Hold on I'll check.

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't remember you being an arse and I don't remember ever getting an email. Ah! sweet mystery of life.

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am back at home now, should be in the pub by eightish.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It's my fault, I'm very cavalier about deleting emails from addresses I don't recognise so apologies. I've got to go now.

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i might well come out to the pub, provided my flatmate comes back for dinner fairly soon. see you all in a bit, hopefully...

toby (tsg20), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

fucking hell my head hurts

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 21 August 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

So did anyone pull?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 21 August 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Saturday, 21 August 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

wow who pulled??? i missed all the action!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 21 August 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

so to speak!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 21 August 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

explain yourself

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Saturday, 21 August 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oh! i thought you knew something i didn't! when you said "yes" like as in you knew who pulled! i went home early due to drunkenity and if there was any action i'd miss it!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 21 August 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Your pulling doesn't count, Steve! (Well, unless you pulled someone different on the way home, which would be impolite, to say the least.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 21 August 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't fancy any of the indie girls I saw. Frankly, I feel cheated.

Good night nonetheless, there was much dancing and frivolity and it was nice to see Kate enjoying herself. Rah - we rule at Pixies dancing!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 21 August 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I'd been there. But hey. I was in Oxford awaiting missing luggage.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 21 August 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I really wish I'd gone back home on saturday morning instead. Thanks to a lightning strike at Huntingdon it took 5 hours for the train to get from King's Cross to York.

Still, the weekend wasn't entirely wasted: while sorting through boxes of my parents' books I happened on one called 'God's Gift To All Women'. Name of books hero, and I assume god's gift himself: 'Johnny Skidmore'.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 22 August 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

!!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 23 August 2004 07:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The evening was fabulous. Much dancing. Much lusting over dirty dronerock boys. (but no action, fortunately.)

But oh, my body is still hating me for it several days later. I didn't have a hangover in the usual sense, but all my joints feels like they are made out of some kind of creaky decaying rubber. Argh.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I am STILL astonished at how much fun I had. Though Ian desperately needs to work on his photography composition. Starry, are these(http://www.howdoesitfeel.f9.co.uk/aug20rasosbf.jpg) your arms and fringe?

marianna lcl, Monday, 23 August 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Miss M, your outfit looks amazing - naughty Austrian schoolgirl? I wish we'd been in town this weekend :(

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

you guys should be in london every weekend obv.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

aha, s1mon pr1ce was there. I met him at the B&S gig at Somerset House. Scary fake spiky hair!

Does Ian have a shoe fetish?

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:09 (twenty-one years ago)

That wasn't S1mon Pr1ce. Was it? You are joking, right? I hope.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian's photos are sometimes great, sometimes rubbish. Quality control?

Ken, we soon will be!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ian has an ASS fetish i think!

liz!!! tell more!!!!!!!!!!1

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

That's totally Simon Price!

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

ken you'll have to post one of your MANY self-portraits taken during the evening... and i saw some girl chatting you up by the dancefloor - you should have pulled!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

kate was totally the dancing queen, it was fantastic! although we nearly had to armwrestle over a gay boy with a lovely nose and not much of an ass that was quite cute. was he a DDR, kate?

i'll have to get one of my friends to post the highly amusing story from the end of the night.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i only had one in the end!!! i must have BALEETED all the other ones cos they were shameless! i looked drunken and leary even in this surviving one hahaha!

will post pics tonite. there's one of your chin!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ps, it was nice to meet and talk to dadaismus. although he looked a little confused when my friend and i started blowing kisses at each other.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Gay? He wasn't gay! He left with an indie chick, and his boyfriend spent the rest of the night dancing!

But Ken... what about the pics of us looking deliberately EEEEVIL!!! in the pub? Please tell me you didn't delete those...

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

omg i hope not!!!!!! I have to check!! was it taken with my camera or someone else's?? omg!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

(I would also like to apologise for everyone's drinks that I pirated. Dancing is thirsty work. I am so sorry.)

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh I think that was me, yes!! Ugh, I so need to sort out my fringe! Glad to avoid cameras, marv. I second the love of Marianna's outfit by the way! Ah - one day I will not dress like a sack of spuds, ONE DAY!! :)

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

you didn't manage to avoid EVERY camera sarah :)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, i just believed you when you told me he was gay! i otherwise would have assumed that it was just my 'american gaydar abroad' problem again.

didn't really want to talk to him, and can't imagine much of a relationship based on me saying 'um, can you just shut up so i can stare at your hypnotic ass?'

although that could be quite interesting, really.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I haf no idea whot you cd mean.

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a picture of you!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Did I say he was gay? How drunk was I? I'm confused.

I was disappointed with the DDB turnout at the actual nightclub, but I suppose it's just as well. How cute were the DDBs at the Swimmer, though? Maybe I should move.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

flipping the fingers at the camera no less!

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

that DDB chatting up two girls at the swimmer was actually quite cute

ken c (ken c), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure you deserved it. I remember now, the picture seemed alright at the time but I'm sure no doubt BLURRY DRUNKEN VISION played a part in all of that.

Starry (hello chickens), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

kate, you were shouting at me that he was gay and the other guy was his boyfriend, and that you saw him first and he was yours. considering that i was standing next to him, i think he may have cought on to the game...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken, I really *hope* that you didn't delete the OOH SCARY photo.

Ach, I had forgotten about Swedish Girl and Council Girl, though. See how the memory glosses over these things? Oh, and the DDBs earlier, except they ended up getting entranced by some bad, baaaaad band on TOTP (Who were they? Kasabian? Good lord, I didn't even need to hear them to know that I hate them.) and then I totally lost all respect for them.

Oh yes, BTW, props to Dadaismus for turning up, that was very brave. I'm always astonished when people not only recognise us all sitting in a gang, but don't turn around and run in the opposite direction! Tee hee!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I can understand someone looking Swedish. But how on earth can you look Council? or do you mean as in "estate"?

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the accepted meaning, cf the Cheez Strings advert and possibly Michelle from BB5. It's a bit rub though, but it's got legs...

my full sodding name (hello chickens), Monday, 23 August 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I thought you might have meant "Style Council," i.e. licking each other's ears in straw boaters and blazers as per video for "Long Hot Summer."

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Miss M, your outfit looks amazing - naughty Austrian schoolgirl?

Aww, thanks. I was totally going to retire that outfit, but now I'm thinking otherwise.

Kate, you're officially my new favourite dancer EVER.

marianna lcl, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Still, the weekend wasn't entirely wasted: while sorting through boxes of my parents' books I happened on one called 'God's Gift To All Women'. Name of books hero, and I assume god's gift himself: 'Johnny Skidmore'.

That'll be my brother, I expect - he's named J0n@th@n.
