CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 January 2005 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Happy Hour really half an hour longer now? If so, woot.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 17 January 2005 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 January 2005 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Curiously, Sarah and I were talking about it yesterday too. WHAT CAN IT ALL MEAN?

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 17 January 2005 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Wouldn't it be good if we could see an FLIER hint?

Sarah has logged herself out somehow, Monday, 17 January 2005 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 17 January 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds a bit rubbish. I might go somewhere else.

alix (alix), Monday, 17 January 2005 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

let me lay it on the line, got a little freakiness inside, and you know that a man has got to do widdit

Stevem On X (blueski), Monday, 17 January 2005 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

well that's why they have gents' toilets there

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 17 January 2005 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

On the subject of our new mascot, I fully expect Ken to be kicking arse at this game when it is installed at the Chapel Bar.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 January 2005 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

For a horrible moment, I thought this was the same night as the SHOEGAZER CLUB, but then I realised that's next month. Phew.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there of course. Do we have any news on guest DJs yet?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

*reminds Carsmile AGAIN that he asked to be put in the DJ queue back in September*

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I vote for DJ The Lex!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

We're skipping a month guest DJ wise because there's a restriction on what people can play, so it'll just be us. Also we're greedy.

Unless Tim Finney wants to do a guest of honor set since it's his only chance.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

So normal guest DJing will resume in February and then in March there's an EXTRA SPECIAL EVENT planned cos we'll have been in the same venue a year, which is a milestone of sorts.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i believe it's what the young people refer to as "a birthday party" m'lud...

(we have some actual fun (but not overly organised (considering tom's involved)) planned)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yes sir i'm cut from a different cloth my texture is the best fur chinchilla

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you playing that game where you have to bash this hanging container blindfolded until candies fall out?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Steve is losing it, people.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

"losing"

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

"Steve"

rock and roll, Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"people"

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Same old game, (you know it doesn't turn me on)
Brand new day (you're singing that same old song)
No more lies (if you don't wanna find me)
gone gone gone gone gone

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I've given up on the idea of ever being guest DJ. Closed shop, blah blah. (They will now try to prove me wrong by saying that I can DJ in February, when they now know I'll be at the shoegazing club anyway. Typical.)

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, i already offered you a 00s set in january and we (the two of us, together) decided that a set in february would be better. it was on the pub crawl i think, possibly even before that...

i will be gutted if the shoegazing night's the same night, we are booked for 24th February

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

If I ever DJ again I want it written in blood, and possibly tattoed on my forearm, to prevent this ever happening.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

You think I can *remember* the pub crawl? For gods sake, I was sucking spies' fingers in the Spanish Bar, you expect me to remember details of DJing arrangements?

And yes, I'm sorry to report that the shoegazing club is on the 24th:

Sonic Cathedral is back

Sonic Boom is DJing and that's more important than anything else on earth, I'm afraid, as he is My Dead Husband and all.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

DJ PLEASE
PICK UP YOUR PHONE
I'M ON THE REQUEST LINE

THIS IS
A MISSY ELLIOTT
ONE TIME
EXCLUSIVE

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

oh arses.

i wanted to go to that shoegazing thing too...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd be an awesome DJ if i can do this in march.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

omg but that's the birthday hoohah

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

aren't you doing february?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

there's nothing like organisation, is there?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

This is what happens when you try to organise things completely plastered!

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

wow am i doing feburary? cool!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hehe, i was relatively sober when i was doing the organising, it's not my fault it all went a bit boozeful 6 hours later :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a relative with me. It's a fairly good bet I was drunk within 20 minutes of sitting down.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

in that case i don't think i had arrived yet at the point of this organising being done as everybody were already WANKERED at the point of my arrival

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

"Unless Tim Finney wants to do a guest of honor set since it's his only chance."

Sadly I won't be able to fit CDs in my backpack BUT I am quite happy to tell others what to play.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

iPod set!

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

for purely technical sound-level related reasons i'd advise against an ipod set.

tim, send tom a list of songs and i bet he'd burn them onto a couple of cds for you ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm this is tempting, could always burn 3 cds or so myself and do a half hour set...

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

have you guys updated your firmware so that your ipods don't have the EU imposed sound level restriction yet??

(i bought mine from Hong Kong and it's FUCKING LOUD)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

or is it just a case of crappy amplification on the line in for the mixer?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I know I'm the only person left in the Western World with no iPod, but surely this is a pre-amp before the mixer problem rather than an inherent difficult with iPods, que non?

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The line in amplification always seems to cause a slight buzz but it probably could be solved but quality is always going an issue when you're using a 1.5 jack to provide a stereo output for any system. CD burning is easily done and easier to play with.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim - the average guest slot is only about 45mins anyway so there's nothing stopping you from burning your entire set onto two CDs.

(Not that that's what I did or anything, oh no...)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

if you pre mix your whole set you can even just burn everything on one cd and then press play and drink beer!!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

genius

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

"but they're just putting in one CD and pressing play and that's it!" is the new "but they're just playing other people's records"

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I *hate* people who do that! I'm not even a DJ but I'm a DJ snob like that. What if you change your mind about what you want to change? What if you suddenly get a brainstorm while playing, or if one of the directions you go down suddenly goes HORRIBLY WRONG?!?!?

The art to being a good DJ is to be able to faff about, dance, and DRINK BEER while still perilously switching back and forth between songs. Humph.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

And now I'm actually considering not going to the shoegazer club anyway, because I accidentally got forwarded an email exchange between ALL MY FRIENDS talking about going to the shoegazer club that no one bothered to invite me, let alone cc: me and I probably only got the forward by accident anway, and let's face it, all my friends freaking hate me anyway. But I'm not going to let them keep me from seeing Sonic Boom. God, why is it all so shit?

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

And I've just killed another thread, hurrah! Where's that Magnus Robot Fighter picture when I need it?

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

one good thing about Club FT for me is that it masterfully covers four of the six OFFICIAL DJ artforms, thus:

1) just play whatever i pick out of the bag/box regardless of whether even i have heard it (Pete)

2) hone a policy of fair compromise by dropping popular contemporary hits alongside tried and trusted classics and the odd personal favourite as is my wont (Carsmile)

3) BIG TUNES, BIG BEERS - OMG MUST KEEP BOTH THEM AND MY FEET ON THE FLOOR (Tom)

4) i've been planning this for months so let me play exactly what i want for half an hour cos i have great taste after all and it's more about appreciating the music at this early hour rather than dancing anyway (Guest DJ remit. essentially)

not covered:

5) progressive journey and competent, intuitive, seamless mixing (impressive but hardly a key factor when it comes to having teh disco fun)

6) scratchy turntablism (see above)

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

or if one of the directions you go down suddenly goes HORRIBLY WRONG?!?!?

rob bolton to thread!!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

roxymuzak to thread.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim burn 2 or 3 CDs if you like, that would be great - if you remember anything else crucial then email my gmail address (it's on freakytrigger if you don't know it, don't use hotmail as it's dead) and I will try and bring it along.

I have BIG TUNES MANIA in the form of the works do the week after so my set next week is likely to be a little more indulgent than normal.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 20 January 2005 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hang on - MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER?!

I am an advocate of 7) play whatever you've bought along and if people suddenly stop dancing - "oh shit, stick New Order/E17/Beyonce/Alter Ego [delete as applicable] on and hope for the best." You will be seeing a masterclass in this technique tomorrow.

As far as Club FT goes, the bigger the tunes the better frankly. Although we will run out of big tunes after four or so hours of 00s action. It is very important that Tim plays.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 January 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

BIG TUNES, BIG BEERS - OMG MUST KEEP BOTH THEM AND MY FEET ON THE FLOOR

Having seen Tom fall over in the Chapel Bar pulpit, I know this is not always successful.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 January 2005 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

(Kate at Rob's birthday bash was one of the best DJ sets I've seen from an Ilxer, incidentally)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 January 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I love BIG TUNES as all man know

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 21 January 2005 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

My DJ set at Rob's B-day party was me and Mariannnnnnna (very drunX0r) in panic struck dance frenzy going "This is rubbish! We want to dance!" and yanking random records out, one selecting the records and the other sticking them on, taking turns at finding the biggest floor fillers and dancing the whole while. With cake.

Except for Big Audio Dynamite, that was my bad, I'm ashamed to admit.

I'm better if I DJ with other people's record collections, I think.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Friday, 21 January 2005 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i remember hearing 'Lust For Life' and 'Kiss' at that, and i think Marianna played The Knife

Stevem On X (blueski), Friday, 21 January 2005 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I played The Sugarhill Gang at some point.

See, that's the kind of record I would never actually own, but I would *always* play if I found in someone else's DJ bag.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Friday, 21 January 2005 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I have done scratchy turntablism once or twice, being the only Mr Vinyl we have. I may bring a breaks reckid next week just for this purpose.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 21 January 2005 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Despite inevitable moaning from me about hearing 'Toxic', 'Crazy In Love' and Busted yet again I am actually really looking forward to this as it's been a while

Stevem On X (blueski), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I am sorry to report that I will most likely not be attending this now.

Masonic Boom-Boom (kate), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god, do we REALLY have to hear Toxic and Crazy In Love, I mean, seriously - I do NOT want to hear them at all. Yes we know it's the 00s and they are 00s records but both will cause me great psychic agony.

I am not doing myself any favours here, I admit. Instead why don't you play Hey Ya ARF ARF.

Sarah C, Tuesday, 25 January 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.popjustice.co.uk/ivestoppeddancing.gif

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Please, please, please don't play Crazy In Love. Please?

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

IT'S A 00S NIGHT, IT HAS TO BE PLAYED

just for a bit of fun, everyone should sit on the dancefloor when it is played tho, mwahahaha

Stevem On X (blueski), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll try not to, can't promise anything...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.othermusic.com/cover/42239.JPG

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god, do we REALLY have to hear Toxic and Crazy In Love, I mean, seriously - I do NOT want to hear them at all.

in theory I agree; in practice (and in conjunction with happy hour cocktails) I suspect I (and YOU ALL) will be dancing mentalist-stylee to them both.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't intend to play either of those records, though tracks featuring Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears are 100% likely to feature at some point in the evening.

I might change my mind when I've had a few drinks but probably not, there's too many other old and new favourites to revisit, and also I've got a works do the next week where those two (and H*y Y*!) will be compulsory.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

we're NOT playing hey ya.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope the Britney which is played is "Boys" (or "Overprotected", or "Anticipating"). I am currently very much in love with her "get nasteh!" exclamation.

I am bringing a non-ILX friend btw!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

IT'S A 00S NIGHT, IT HAS TO BE PLAYED

since there has only ever been 3 songs produced in the 00s.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

no because these have been the most popular tracks of the 00s, proven by science

it sounds like it is becoming an 'alternative 00s' night, oooh

Stevem On X (blueski), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i'm confused now

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

1800s night! Ludwig Van B on the motherfucking mic!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

he wasn't really black

Stevem On X (blueski), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

he just takes the piss out of them.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see a stand taken on the ongoing airbrushing of the Sugababes from pop history. Please play all their singles including Overload.

Actually, I bet there's loads of great stuff from 00-01 people have forgotten about.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes! Overload!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Movin' Too Fast is one of the few garage records I actually like. Its great.

Hands up who else had forgotten Scanty Sandwich?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i HATE Movin Too Fast, the Honeyz track rools tho

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

*waves hands frantically*

I am polling TEH OTHER PLACE for requests and so far I have got play Dragostea Din tei, go on. That's pop music which is actually good, which means you probably shouldn't play it now.

Sarah C, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Maia-hu!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Aye it's great really innit, but I was hoping to uncover forgotten gems!

Hatiras featuring Slarta John 'Spaced Invader'

Blue - All Rise
Mandy Moore - Candy

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I think we should just let Teh Lex and Stevem play ALL NIGHT LONG. I am loving this. My polling is going slowly, but there has now been a vote for Black Box Recorder.

Sarah C, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's Got The Crack is the worst single of the 00s. Bar none.

Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Lady by Modjo!

Sarah C, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Ladyboy is Mine!

I am serious, Moi Lolita must be played, I will bring along my copy if no one has one.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Moi Lolita that Alizee track? The famous one? Or is that Je N'en Pas Vignt Ans or whatever it was called?

Also GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

the 'Cubik' mash-up version by...someone or other (cough)

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yes Moi Lolita is the famous Alizée one with the fantastically dubious video.

GET BUSY

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Alizee is a bit too rock for my liking.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR MARK HESTER: Are you coming?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

To the club, not over Alizee.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve, is that the Futurama one that j0e did? That was awesome.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

no Matt, that was the Futurama one

Tom. Thanks.

GET LOW

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i can never get over Jess's description of 'Get Low' for the 00s poll - 'a lump of coal belched out of the back of the Trans Europe Express' or something, perfect.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Get Low - the Merengue mix

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i think Carsmile has played that before, wooo

how about an hour devoted entirely to Richard X then?

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

bootylicious

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

'Jumpin' - Liberty X FOR GOD'S SAKE

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, these suggestions. Matt DC is completely otm up above - the Sugababes rule 2000s UK pop.

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

PWEI - Let's Get Ugly

(pretend it was re-released in 2001 or something)

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i think you need to bring back the spirit of TEH NEW ROCK REVOLUTION!!

Miles Finch, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't remember the new rock revolution...

i have played the get low merengue mix before and may well do again...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

'Being Nobody' is the best Liberty X song

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a f*cking neurotic idiot sometimes. I will endeavour my best to attend.

Now how about "To Earth With Love" - Gay Dad, or was that 1999 after all?

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe we call this New Rock Revolution "Haircut Indie", Mr Carsmile sir.

Enrique/Barima - are you coming along?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Nonono. Haircut Indie came after the NRR. The NRR was "The Datsuns. They're good."

And to be fair, 'In Love' is still a really good song. Give that a spin, why don'tcha?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

The Datsuns are haircut indie.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

poverty and pestilence combined = why i cannot attend this event.

also i seriosuly need to get my hair cut.

Miles Finch, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The Datsuns wrote lovesongs to their pedals and therefore are the BEST THING EVAH!!! I think you'll find. Haircut indie though they might be.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd forgotten The Datsuns even existed despite quite liking 'Harmonic Generator'

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

They are not haircut indie. Kaiser Chiefs - Haircut indie. Cooper Temple Clause - Haircut indie. Datsuns - NEW ROCK REVOLUTION. Very, very different things.

I'm trying to remember a Cooper Temple Clause song. I'm not sure that I can. Haircut Indie is probably mid-2003 onward. Probably. Though it almost definitely doesn't include The Zutons.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Bit scared now.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

WBS is OTM y'all. [haircut techno = Orbital??]

Miles Finch, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Swygart weeps, for he knows his onions only too well

Why scared Alixilxor?

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying to remember a Cooper Temple Clause song

the only one i ever remember is the one that sounds Liam Gallagher covering Isaac hayes 'Walk On By', 'Who Needs Enemies'

i bumped into the lead singer a few times in Brighton as his gf and mine at the time were in same halls. there endeth my rubbest claim to fame yet.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

God, they were average.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club! There's another! I think the rule of thumb could be 'released second album in past couple of years and no-one noticed'. So there's The Music...

Not Elbow or Turin Brakes though, because they were both New Acoustic Movement.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

The Music are not haircut indie. They are a bit too manky and ugly.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

The NRR includes pretty much all bands that emerged between 2001 and 2003 with The as a prefix...give or take a few. Any band that has emerged since with no The prefix = Haircut Indie e.g. Razorlight, Frank Fernando

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

God can't we get back to talking about GOOD songs?! LESS OF THIS MADNESS!

Starry Sarah, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The. Vines.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

(Starry - people are looking at me as if I have some kind of expertise. I am quite probably never going to experience this ever again.)

But yeah, good songs. Erm. 'TKO' by Le Tigre, that's very good.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sweet Female Attitude

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve your definition is nonsense because The Libertines were clearly Kings of Haircut Indie and have been around for a few years now.

Erm, yes, sorry. More Than A Woman.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all been spoiled now. Bah.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Father Pop, we're just too bloody excitable.

Always an exception to every rule Matt.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

To really get the two-treble-zero voib you need a WILLIAM ORBIT HOUR

Miles Finch, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Its the Datsuns. Shiver.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

'Haircut indie' has a horribly rockist Joe Carducci vibe about it.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

JtN OTM. I am going to plug my essay thing now:

http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk/essays/2005/01/during-goldrush.html

I think we need a better phrase than "haircut indie".

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

perhaps you are right, esp. considering Busted and McFly have exactly the same hair as these other bands.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Hairdo indie.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Barnet Boogaloo

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

tee hee hee

alix (alix), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i said elsewhere that the term Haircut Indie implies to me that more effort was spent fixing the do (and general image) then crafting the songs, this being at odds with what countless musos proclaim pwopa music to be about, which smacks of inverse-inverse-rockism i suspect. But it seems no-one can agree on who is guilty of that (i.e. do Franz, the Libs and the Killers really spend more time on their image than their music? err, dunno - surely not when they're championed by those constantly banging on about substance over style?)...and if that is a bad thing is charty Pop exempt from such accusations because it supposedly trades on such superficiality but is more unabashed and upfront about it. none of this is necessarily true, just ideas like...

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Barima - are you coming along?

Sorry, bit scared now.

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a tenner in it for you

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It has less to do with the relative amounts of effort put into image and music and more to the fact that in 10 years time you will be able to hold up a picture of any of these bands and people will probably be able to tell they were in an NME-favoured guitar band between 2001 and 2005 sometime.

There is a big slice of derision in there as well of course but its not a rockist thing.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Haircut indie = "false metal". It was coined by the HDIF people for goodness sake, it is BLATANTLY a rockist thing.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

and more to the fact that in 10 years time you will be able to hold up a picture of any of these bands and people will probably be able to tell they were in an NME-favoured guitar band between 2001 and 2005 sometime.

but why? because they put more effort into their image no?

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

it's 'Haircut Indie' because of the ironing involved: although franz and razorlight's fans say they're all deep and serious it's obvious that in reality more thought has gone into the look (or 'the look' extending to the sonic 'look': post-punk as 'style' for frank).

whereas popist legends girls aloud are talked about mainly for their look but in fact their psonic psience pwns all those indie fux.

Miles Finch, Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I see that Tom, but then the question is what do poppists prefer - Real Indie or 'Haircut' Indie? the latter essentially being 'fake real'?

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess poppists just reject both.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(sorry for having just deterred 26,487 people who were thinking about coming to Club FT until they read this gubbins btw)

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, great ad skillz!

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Look, this image/music stuff is bollocks. You can identify these bands' era by their hair and clothes because that's what you can do with almost every act in almost every style of music ever. Its hardly unique to this particular group of bands.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, no one claimed baggy was more about the trousers than the music, did they?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(I'd venture a guess that this is less offputting than a lot of what's occurred on previous Club FT threads, but its just a guess)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

They had equal rights.

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

So the 'haircut' prefix is utterly redundant then based on what you've just said?

xpost

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

And Franz Ferdinand are in fact in their 40s?

Captain GRRRios' Giggletits (Barima), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the haircuts are probably considerably more sculpted than they were in the 80s and 90s, that's the thing. I'm going mostly on the basis of The Killers here.

Also, its useful in order to sneer at a style of music one doesn't like.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

(Oh okay, you win, it is a rockist thing after all)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

my haircut is almost haircut indie now.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm convinced that to attempt to lump bands together into these sorts of definitions is officially teh folly

back to tomorrow night: i fancy getting there early in order to quaff enough Highland Flings so that i may bogle to 'Never Leave You (Uh Oh) (remix ft Busta & Fabolous)' and shimmy to S.E.B.'s 'Get Over You' like nobody's business (but my own)

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Fierce Girl's Double Drop is much better than that Audio Bullies song.

(Tom I hope you're taking notes)

Neither has The Weerwolf Dance tho'.

Stevem On X (blueski), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Help! Help! I can't find the thread! What is the mad bus that goes from Waterloo to Islington and avoids the Evil Exclusion Zone Of Heartbreak And Death? I know we talked about it before on one of these threads... or was I trying to get to a different part of London?

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, wait, yes, I've found it. It was the 341, but the 4 will do.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope someone plays something off the new daft punk album.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

is mr finney playing, btw? if so, at what time?

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

the 4 is the bus that never comes. aim for the 341, it's quicker and it actually turns up!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think we've had any official word from mr finney either way yet. if he turns up with some cds no doubt he'll be having a go :)

(NB if you're an ilxor we've never met before and can do an aussie accent, here's your chance to dj at club FT!! just turn up and pretend to be tim finney!)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim said yesterday he had CDs, would DJ

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Whenever I'm trying to get from Archway to Waterloo, the 4 is always the first bus that comes! maybe it doesn't work the other way around...

Hrmmm. I wonder if I can pull off an Aussie accent... OK, wrong gender, but still. Considering The Spy is going to be impersonating me for my DJ set next month, who knows what genderbending antics we can all get up to!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The other way round it works too. I always want to get the 341 because it is better but the 4 and its bizarre diversion route comes first.

alix (alix), Thursday, 27 January 2005 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that the 341 goes to archway.

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 27 January 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of which, here's a brilliant exercise in extended irony i found on imdb:

Orange Men = Fun Guys, 15 June 2004
Author: Dinky Donk from Millport

McDougall's "Just Another Saturday" is a detailed examination of Christian youth clubs in central Scotland. John (Jon Morrison) is a young Catholic boy whose life revolves around the weekends and his beloved Orange walks. He's the main man in the march, the only one who has perfected the "broken airse" walk while twirling his cheerleader's baton.

The "Saturday" in question is the 4th of July, the day in history when Good King Wenceslas looked out over the Boyne and decided that everyone in the kingdom should be given a pair of white gloves, a bowler hat, and a Tennents Super.

McDougall expertly captures the carnival atmosphere of the orange parade, projecting an almost Mardi Gras type atmosphere. The colorful characters, from the humble "jakie" to the over-amorous "belter" are wonderfully portrayed.

Also notable for a young Billy Connolly as Paddy, a young man torn between his desire to be a priest, and his prodigious talent for the flute (watch out for him playing "the Sash" in a reggae style).

A real feel good movie.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 27 January 2005 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god, we've got another four hours of this coming, haven't we?

I have only just discovered the 4, and I have decided that I like it because it is such a MAD BUS!!! with its diversionary tactics.

It's mixed news PJ. Good in that it's a relief to have an end date for this annoying job. Bad in that it would've been nice to have a few more weeks of paychecks. There are other nuances, but I shall spare you, only assure you that I was always going to be a bookbinder :)

Par-T One and Tall Paul are unknown to me. I'd welcome an introduction, since I can't have "one of my kind" or somesuch.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

God, I have sod-all to do for the last hour of work. I can't even just leave because then I have all this time to burn between now and meeting up. Argh, I'm so bored.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

What, is everybody AIM-ing or are you actually working or something?

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Thursday, 27 January 2005 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Wooohoo! That was a fucking GREAT night!

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 28 January 2005 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I had an amazing psychic connection moment when tom was DJing. He'd put avril lavigne on, and I wasn't really feeling it, and I was starting to feel tired. So I went to the loo, and while I was in there, I did a little deal with myself. I decided I'd head on home, unless the next song was by Busted. And then I came out agian, and amazingly, it was! Woo! And then Tim dropped and broke his bottle of beer halfway through Thunderbirds Are Go and somehow that struck me as a beautiful but tragic metaphor for the busted split and I nearly cried. But then I drank more and then I had lots more fun. Hurrah!

JimD (JimD), Friday, 28 January 2005 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

tim.F is real

nick.K (nick.K), Friday, 28 January 2005 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

hampsterfrench (hampsterfrench), Friday, 28 January 2005 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

So much goodness.

But I got the email I didn't want to get. So I'm kinda weeping right now. And that seems to balance the joy from tonight.

Abby (abby mcdonald), Friday, 28 January 2005 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

GET ONE BEST CLUB FT EVER!

Sarah C, Friday, 28 January 2005 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo! Excellent night. I feel like crap today though.

robster (robster), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

What a night to miss.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Marianna! I was just about to text you. you were sorely missed.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

it was ok.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

It was bluddy great. We were visited by twee indie royalty also, slumming from HDIF.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Best Club FT ever. Clearly. Tim F is an absolute hero and his DJ set was the best guest set I've heard at the Chapel Bar. Nice to meet Nick K again and finally talk properly as well.

Best bit of the night = Tom just going "fucking hell*" from the pulpit after the dancefloor reaction to Scooter. And the invention of the Schnappi dance.

Also, Lady Sovereign - 2 Eminem - 0. The way it should be.

I have no hangover :)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I stopped dancing for about two and a half hours. Except when that facking Gwen Stefani song was played. Twice.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Graah, tell me about it. My feet are knackered today.

Dear Lord, I danced to the Logical Song. OMGWTF.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Who needs the gym when you have Vitalic and Club FT in one week, eh?

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I love dancing so much.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think at one point I went up to both Tim and Tom and shouted "EVERYTHING FREAKYTRIGGER HAS EVER DONE HAS BEEN LEADING UP TO THIS MOMENT!" Which may well be true.

I don't think Optimo tonight is going to happen though. Not for me anyway.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too. I think I might break something if I go out tonight on top of last night and PWEI earlier in the week.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I remember you said something about Optimo tonight: when, where, who &c? maybe if no one is up for more dancing we could just go to a pub.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The main reason I can't make it is that I'm going for dinner with friends tonight, and have a pressing engagement involving watching at least three hours of football tomorrow.

North London pints of some description tomorrow night is a definite possibility though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It is my sad duty to report that Rock Around The Bunker actually exists.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

What the fuck was all that, then?

Barima at ken c's (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahaha Matt I was JUST googling that!

I still can't believe how good last night was despite loads of songs I thought were shoe-ins not being played, wot no Annie?

I think that it is essential that Barima and Tim F and K-Reg appear at all future Club FTs EVER. Start the whip-round!

Sarah C, Friday, 28 January 2005 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you preventing Ken from going to work Barms? Naughty boy.

MDC, pints while BOWLING, yes.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 28 January 2005 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

bless you all my children.

i am having the day off today for a man to come to pick up our old telly but he has already been, so i think i'll sit around doing nowt for the rest of the day, hurrah!

thank you very very much for coming along everyone, it was a top one :)

There are 2 Sheryl Crow albums here.

Stevem On X (blueski), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

also everyone (especially the north london types) we are djing again in a fortnight (Feb 10th) at nambucca on holloway road, well it's just a guest slot, but it would be delightful if some of you could come along.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh Nambucca, the spelling mistake that passes for a bar, that's near me

Two Otto Muehls For Sister Sara (Dada), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm off in ten minutes, dude. Thanks for leaving the comp on and fucking up my willpower.

Barima at ken c's (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

my 9am lecture was pretty painful. especially when i ran out of working pens half way through and had to leave the lecture room in seach of more. no headache, and not too dehyrated, though, so i think a nap will sort me out.

but yeah, a fantastic night! great to meet tim at last, and i agree with matt about the brilliance of his set. best club ft ever, probably.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Best bit of the night = Tom just going "fucking hell*" from the pulpit after the dancefloor reaction to Scooter.

DC has gone over the edge - he is in geezer overdrive.

the pinefox, Friday, 28 January 2005 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow is a classic album Barms.. c'mon c'mon on the other hand, is rubbish (i bought it cos i thought i liked soak up the sun :\) take it with you if you want!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i think Tom's actual words were 'Blimey', unless that was Carsmile

i had a wonderfull time as always but i was DEVASTATED by the absence of Digital Love (but i had a quick listen to it before leaving work last night and felt the guitar solos at the end more than ever before)

Stevem On X (blueski), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

you should listen to the RAWK version steve!!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken: agreed about the former and the latter. But only b/c of the singles.

i have videos, actually! they might be too dark for anything to be seen though (i haven't watched yet quicktime doesn't work at work).

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh nice photos. I note that the one of me holding two cocktails has been reproduced about 3 times on this thread now.

Optimo tonight, hmm, depends how tired I am: given the pints/bowling combination tomorrow, it may be a little unlikely.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 January 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That pint at lunchtime was a bad idea. Rarely in my life have I wanted sleep so much while sitting at work.

Oh my god, and to think that I so nearly didn't go... I am very very grateful to The Spy for dragging me out after all, because I had a MARVELLOUS time. Cha-Cha slide and all!

I need to go dancing more often. In fact, I am making a resolution to dance at least once a week from now on!

Though I must say that the expression on The Spy's face is priceless.

i thought colette took two of you the last time!!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Those photos were at her house, not at the club!

Though I must say it's a flattering photo of me dancing. I wish I were that skinny, but I know that it's the same trick of the light that gave The Spy manboobs instead of his usual manly pectorals.

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Friday, 28 January 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i see!

also helpful tips re: getting face pics taken - it's almost impossible to take unblurry photos of people in the light level of the chapel bar with my camera. best way to get photo taken is while taking alcohol breaks from the dancing, pose dramatically and it'd be photos galore.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess I need to spent less time at FT on the dancefloor and more time schmoozing by the bar... sigh.

But I get the opportunity to actually dance so rarely!

The Phantom of the Operating System (kate), Friday, 28 January 2005 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder if El Spyo's position has been deeply compromised after being caught on camera

can there be a Club FT ALL-DAYER in the Summer?

Stevem On X (blueski), Friday, 28 January 2005 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

ken if your camera is like mine the 'night filter' or whatever it is that makes everything so red and blurred is bloody useless. better off using the flash (except flash makes everything look so static and drab)

Stevem On X (blueski), Friday, 28 January 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It makes me question my judgement ;)

alix (alix), Friday, 28 January 2005 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

steve that's it, it's the "no flash" option - i kind of like it because it captures the colour of the place pretty well (which basically was red!) it's just that if my hand is even slightly shakey or if people are moving then it's blur time

ken c (ken c), Friday, 28 January 2005 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

nick.KRG, Saturday, 29 January 2005 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks everyone for coming, I enjoyed it more than a lot. The next one will be on the 24th February, no theme as such but I think I'll be doing a set of cover versions (caution will include europop).

Before that on the 10th we have an engagement at Nambucca and will be on our best behaviour for that (i.e. no Schnappi) - you are welcome to come as I believe Mr Carsmile said upthread.

Before THAT there's my office party to which you are NOT welcome but it's going to be playing all sorts of tat to 500 people, some of whom think Razorlight are good, so you wouldn't want to come anyway. I'm a bit nervous and thinking largely of the money. No Schnappi there either I'm guessing.

Nope, they stopped about a year or so ago after a general dwindling of attendance and the organisers having other commitments. There was a one-off old-skool chart rave one last month though, which was fun.
