A thread about something I hate is not the same thing as a thread I hate Allyzay. And I've been accused on other threads recently by Dadaismus of being a humourless trolling snark who is out to be mean and rubbish people and I'm sick fucking fed up of it. Especially when he stuck his head into a thread he hadn't contributed to just to carry it on. I know, I know, I should just let it go. Which I will now. I didn't realise I was so controversial!

I don't understand the pissing-other-person-off part, either! I mean, the person making the accusation usually winds up exactly as upset and shouty as the person being accused -- sometimes even more, because he's like so sure the other person is an asshole that he winds up really frustrated and mind-blown if anyone sides with the other person. And it's not like the person getting called an asshole has his feelings all hurt, or something -- he just turns around and says "you're the asshole, asshole."

I mean, that's the big risk -- that you'd be all, say, "I can't take it anymore, Ned, you're just the biggest jerk on earth, am I right everybody" and then everybody's like "why are you being such a dick," and then you turn into Calum or something.

I've gotten pretty irritated at a couple of posters, but I'd say in my case it results more in extreme frustration than in actually being "pissed off," like you just want to grab them by the ears and shake their heads until they're willing to listen to what you're trying to say.

Ally, I don't know the context, so I can't say what his overall point may have been - but an excellent case can be made that the country that did the most to defeat the Nazis was neither the USA nor Great Britain, but the USSR. Not only did the USSR turn back the Nazi advance on the Eastern front with very little help from their allies, but the Nazis committed and lost more armies and war materials against the USSR than elsewhere in Europe or Africa. The constant Nazi losses against the USSR effectively broke their power.

I have no idea what prompted him to bring this up, though.
