i rearranged furniture slightly. it is weird.

tv is such a presence. i know it is just tubes and circuits but, hm.

i think the key is to rearrange my furniture as i have now so that there is no 'empty spot' in which a tv would seem likely to go - e.g., one friend of mine has no tv and you don't notice the absence b/c she's got lots of other things around (w/o being cluttered) and another friend is all minimal and has this big low old radio bookshelf thing with nothing on it where i always think a tv should be, so i feel it's missing. but yeah, no tv in small living room is way friendlier. i bet i will have more dinner parties.

My house has been much more pleasant since moving the tv etc into one of the little bedrooms and turning it into a "theater" sort of setting, while opening up the living room space to circular seating and open floor. My relationship with tv is much better now that it lives off in its own room where it can either be ignored or lavished with attention.

Tables are also for playing cards/scrabble/etc on.

bonus to this: organized all the wires etc that were hidden under a chair that i moved over a foot. these will stay organized for about 2 more hours and then spontaneously disorganize themselves. without the chair shelter i don't know what they'll do. i am sleeping with the light on.

who knows?? the possibilities for my old tv are infinite. it is out of my hands. all its bits and tubes and filaments will find new places to be. maybe in a dump, maybe in a mad science project, maybe all still whole in tv form in the loving ocular embrace of a child watching a made-in-canada made-for-tv movie about two warring families that finally resolve their differences when stuck at the lake house for a week and then a daughter from one family and a son from another can finally declare their love to everyone while they watch the sun go down.

hey guys i found a tv on the curb right outside my apartment!

it is a 12" late-80s/early-90s sharp brand colour tv! it works!
it is the perfect tv size for my little apartment! the universe is crazy!
