(Or how do you imagine they describe you, anyway)

Me: something along the lines of "nicest guy you'll ever meet. shy, passive, deferential" And I'm sure some variation of "weird" gets thrown in there a bit.

"he looks like he spends a lot of time at the computer"

just yesterday some older dude that I had never met before came into the office and started asking me stupid questions about how to work his laptop because, as he said, I "look like I know what I'm doing."

Quirky is the only adjective I can think of. That was a while ago. Actually, a few years ago, I was at my own birthday party and I overheard some guests I didn't know describing me as "really nice". Oh, and someone said I was clever the other day.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 23:18 (eighteen years ago)

okay, i was not present for "wily". sort of.

elan, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

Probably stubborn, though that was more as a child/teenager. (Oh god, I'm in denial here.) I also get a lot people labeling me feisty/ad rem/snappy. Doubtful if this comes across here, on this board, but I get it a lot in (har har) *real* life. oh dearie me, where to begin? i think 'fun' is probably the one that's rung truest down the years. that and 'eccentric'. a lot of people also seem to think i have a hair-trigger temper, which is slightly unfair. 'easy/willing target' would be fairer. :D

not forgetting 'verbose'...

Lately, I've been wishing that I was famous enough to be the subject of a magazine profile, just so I could see how an impartial observer would describe me, both physically and behaviorally.

-- jaymc,

Totally - I've been wanting this for years. I sometimes write them myself in my head, but it's not the same. The closest I've come was being mentioned by women's magazine journalist friend in an article about dressing yourself thinner or somesuch. I was one of the friends she met up with during her 'challenge' and she described me as 'annoyingly chic as always.' Which was ace, if not strictly true.

Also on the nice side, I've been described as a 'sweetheart' a couple of times. And charming, which is brilliant.

Not so good: eccentric, borderline alcoholic, messy, brassy (this from one of my best friends - cheers Tom), impractical, as having brittle confidence and bubbly - which should be good, but I loathe it - makes me sound like Kerry Katona or something.

Anna, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 11:18 (eighteen years ago)

Jeff, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Most people who remember me from my HS/college days remember my music obsession and little else. I find myself reassuring them that I've gotten over some of the overt musical snobbery they remember (or at least do a better job of keeping it to myself now)

mike a, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)
