My birthday is just over nine months after my parents' anniversary. My brother's birthday is almost exactly nine months after my father's birthday. Can you link your conception back to a special event or celebration?

So we all think our parents only had sex on special occasions, do we? I remember noticing as a kid that my birthday was within two days of being nine months after my dad's, and my younger brother was born six days short of nine months after my second birthday - then years later I learnt that we were both adopted. This is the sort of coincidence that has little or no significance.

My brother and I both have November birthdays, within a few days of each other (though in different years, obv). It never really occurred to me before, but on checking the calendar it seems that our birthdays are almost exactly 40 weeks (i.e. gestation time) after Valentine's Day which adds weight to the theory that my parents probably only ever had sex once a year, whether they wanted to or not.

When I was 9 I wanted to know this for some reason. It turns out I was conceived the same day the Herald of Free Enterprise sank. It was scary considering they were living in Germany at the time and used to travel to the UK quite often on that very ship.

Had I been born on the day on my mom's due date it would have been 9 months today from my dad's birthday. I only just now realized this after counting back because of the thread. I thought about this because of the Mars rover landing on Sunday. Apparently there is a delay between the time the rover lands and the second the broadcast reaches Earth. So during those 7 minutes, the last 7 minutes before maybe we get to see what Mars looks like, people will attempt (probably furiously because 7 min?) to conceive babby.

At 10:31 p.m. PDT on Aug. 5, after nearly nine months of travel, NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission (with a rover named Curiosity) will arrive at the Red Planet.
The $2.5 billion rover will begin a two-year quest to explore the interior of Mars' Gale Crater and hunt for evidence of an ancient ocean there. But before this hunt can begin, Curiosity has to land.
The Mars Science Laboratory landing sequence has been the topic of much discussion even before the mission launched on Nov. 26, 2011. Nicknamed "seven minutes of terror," the spacecraft's entry, descent and landing sequence will require a lot of things to go perfectly right — all before anyone on Earth receives even a single signal, due to the length of time it takes for information to travel from Mars to Earth.

Someone was saying the other day that second and third children have a bigger chance of being born in June and July since the first kid starts school in September after 5 years at home and the parents have a little bit more time to themselves. I'm still wondering whether that's likely or not.
