Spunky, silly, relatable host for a very good kids' variety show, o C-list major motion picture actress, to a conceptual art piece on celebrity a la Joaquin and Franco? what's going on here? I loved her show when I was a kid.

thought of "the amanda show" several times this week

i loved the amanda show as a kid but i watched it recently and it doesn't hold up as well as something like all that

even when I was younger I thought she was terribly unfunny on all that / her show but I did think she was cute

the sad thing is it's really hard to imagine her life situation improving from here

i think her selfies are formally innovative. she makes serious use of contrast and flash and the shots are so extremely "close-up" that her features aren't even discernable half the time. what does it mean that she is presenting her image in this way? i think classic as a digital photographer/performance artist, dud as a children's comedian.

the personal aesthetic amanda bynes is trying to cultivate honestly confuses me. some of those selfies seem honestly strange, no? if she is spiralling though i hope she pulls it together and i wish her the best, she never did anything wrong by me.

last movie she was in, three years ago, was Easy A, and i remember being really disturbed by the fact that she appeared to have had some kind of work done, at 25, while still playing a high schooler, but looking like some kind of botoxed up old housewife. in a way, nothing that has happened with her since then has surprised me just because of how creepy and desperate she looked in that movie.

While Amanda Bynes continues to insist she isn't insane or addicted to drugs — "I'm allergic to alcohol" she recently told In Touch — her TwitPics tell another story.

Just one day after tweeting a photo of herself in nothing but a black bra and pantyhose — and then retweeting all the gossip outlets that mentioned her — Bynes followed that up by tweeting two photos of herself in nothing but lacy underwear.

The topless shots of the "increasingly eccentric" actress were apparently enough to convince Kim Kardashian's ex-publicist Jonathan Jaxson that Bynes was in need of immediate assistance.

So he sicced the cops on her.

"I just spoke to @AmandaBynes and she is soooo messed up on drugs and please @NY_POLICE find her and help her," he tweeted. "I don't know her address! @TMZ"

The NYPD eventually showed up, at which point Jenny McCarthy chimed in.

"Police are at @AmandaBynes house," she informed her Twitter followers. "I hope they get her help. Enough of this circus. She needs help."

It's unclear what became of the late-night cop pop-in — Bynes has been unusually mum — but some are still holding out hope that Bynes is merely trolling the world and isn't really the wreck she seems.

"I have no clue [why people say I’m insane]," she told In Touch in that same "rare" interview. "Every time I’ve heard it, it came from an ugly person’s mouth, so I don’t care."

Lots of celebrities are savants in one aspect of their lives, but otherwise are as ordinary as the rest of us. It would appear that Amanda Byrnes sees celebrity solely through the lens of who is good-looking and how good-looking they are, which makes it appear that being pretty was her main talent.
