New answers, please! Don't you guys visit Paris all the time on weekend trips? I mean, most of you are on that side of the ocean anyway...??

I'm having an FAP in Cleveland Ohio which, coincidentally, is referred to as the "Paris of Northeast Ohio". Would you like to come? I'm not desperate or anything.

Batofar = good club = 13e or 14e near Bibliotheque Nationale. Record stores on rue Keller, 11e. Bimbo Tower - record store also in 11e, can't recall address. Also lots of discs at Gibert-Joseph right near cross of Blvd St-German and Blvd St-Michel, 5e. Club/event listings available in Nova magazine for the whole month (en français only) or in Pariscope for the week, w/an English insert in the back from TimeOut. Just wander around, is my biggest piece of advice, walk everywhere and get lost even, you can always get the metro back.. There are some cool bars in the 10e on the Canal St. Martin, between Metro Republique and Metro Goncourt is the canal, then walk a bit north, I'm a fan of Chez Prune..

Have a great time, Sarah! If you are with your boyfriend, I recommend lots of evening strolls by the river.

I'm very jealous. Is this your first time? If so, I suspect you'll forget all about hunting down soopare-qule Paris cloobs as soon as you start flaneur-ing around.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:49 (twenty-three years ago)

May I reccomend the fancy department stores? When I say "department stores", don't think "Sears", 'cause this is a whole different scene. Galleries Lafayette, Printemps, et le Samaritaine are worth a look. GL has a domed roof with stained glass and wrought iron railings everywhere. The designer sections are always good for a laugh. The most unfunctional, hideous, expensive clothes right there for your mocking pleasure. The regular clothes are nice and sleek and super-stylin' and not too expensive if you want to get down with the Paris look.

Which reminds me...if you want to see a show (NOT Moulin Rouge, NO), La Vie Parisienne by Offenbach is showing at L'Opera comique & it's a helluva good time, though not for the opera purist. There's lots and lots of can-caning and saucy French maids & tickets can be had for cheap.

I've spent much time online at this concerts page researching shows, bands, and soopare-qule clubs.

La Vie Parisienne and the department stores sound cool.

I'm sure I won't run out of things to do. :)

All this reminds me of my first pun en francais!

So I was spending some time with this French woman (I know very little French) and we went to the Galleries Lafayette because she had to buy a wedding present. We went to the housewares dept, because her 'concept' was to buy two matching, but not exactly matching plates (did I mention I Love French Women). So the housewares dept is called "Jour Apres Jour" and I of course asked if she was looking for the Plates du jour apres jour?

ha ha ha ha!

ok. she groaned too but I'm pretty sure it increased both her love and disdain towards me!

five months pass...
Now my sister is talking about maybe just maybe not getting married to her frenchie loverman, but still studying in France, which is just as good a reason for me to visit as any.
