bob zemko (bob), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:36 (twenty-three years ago)

a potluck is when a group of people get together for dinner and everyone brings something. the random assortment of dishes ends up as the meal. the luck of the pot (or its contents as the case may be)

H (Heruy), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Tuna Noodle Casserole.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Bring a cheesecake!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Isn't this Ready Steady Cook?

alix (alix), Thursday, 10 October 2002 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

mmmm . . . tuna noodle casserole. This thread is making me hungry.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 10 October 2002 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Sweet potato casserole. mmm... Or maybe watergate salad.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 10 October 2002 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I took these spinach filo roll things to a potluck once. I made it vegan for a friend of mine, but he wouldn't eat it since it had a small amount of breadcrumb holding the filling together. He said he wouldn't eat it as he wasn't down with yeast, all the while pounding back beer after beer. I almost hit him. What's the deal with some vegans not eating yeast? I've been hunting down an explanation but can't find one. Makes no sense to me. Anyway, for the potluck, take something you like so you'll at least have one thing to eat.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 10 October 2002 20:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I would offer a recipe for something full of Catholics, but if the potluck's tomorrow you won't be able to serve it. I'm too far away for you to smack me.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 10 October 2002 20:56 (twenty-three years ago)

bring a big angelfood cake with a frosted picture on it of the Virgin giving birth to a stillborn Christ

gabriel (gabe), Thursday, 10 October 2002 20:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I think some of these remarks are not very cool.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 10 October 2002 21:05 (twenty-three years ago)

bring wine and bread.

Clever.

bring a big angelfood cake with a frosted picture on it of the Virgin giving birth to a stillborn Christ

Not quite as clever.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 10 October 2002 21:14 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, sorry anthony. that was dumb.
coming from a catholic family, this sort of thing comes out of my mouth almost on reflex.

i made a vow to myself once that i'd stop ridiculing people for having faith- cuz its pointless and cruel- and I have definitely lapsed of late.

yes, i am faithless. but now i feel like an asshole.

gabriel (gabe), Thursday, 10 October 2002 23:08 (twenty-three years ago)

wait-how dare you assume what i will be offended at, and what i wont be. i thought gabriels comment was amusing and took it as such.

anthony easton (anthony), Friday, 11 October 2002 13:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Anthony I have no idea what will offend you or not - I thought the kneejerk foetus jokes were tired - just like I'd be somewhat irritated if someone said they were going to a Nation of Islam potluck and everybody went "bring BACON ho ho"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 11 October 2002 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

ah-sorry tracer.

anthony easton (anthony), Friday, 11 October 2002 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

have you decided on anything?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 11 October 2002 14:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I just wanted to make a "not quite as clever" joke.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 October 2002 14:20 (twenty-three years ago)

You have to take a casserole, it's potluck law.

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 12 October 2002 05:18 (twenty-three years ago)

bruschetta and cool drank! you will be the hit of the party

boxcubed (boxcubed), Saturday, 12 October 2002 05:29 (twenty-three years ago)

but tracer that IS funny.

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 12 October 2002 05:33 (twenty-three years ago)
