who decides? what are the criteria for continent-hood? why is life so unfair that you can't invade antarctica in risk?

my dad has a v.ancient dinosaurs-for-kids book which predates the acceptance of the continental drift theory, and so animal movement eg from africa to south america is explained by "land bridges", which are included on the maps...
brontosaurus 1: "let's venture out along this extremely narrow and implausible strip of ground that stretches beyond the horizon!" brontosaurus 2: "include me out matey!"brontosaurus 3: "i challenge you in kamchatka!"

Another Israeli anachronism: its football association is part of UEFA and its clubs play in European competition for obvious reasons. Shame, Israel v Iraq would make Celtic v Rangers look like children's picnic.

It's probably because having 'friendly' competitions like football tournaments etc. would indeed result in more bloodshed than one could shake a stick at. Nobody wants to play with Israel, so its mum drives it 5000 miles to a special daycare centre where it can indulge its fascist whims at leisure.

Once I found out that the difference between a pond and a lake was the depth, not the area it occupies. So, why is this answer so elusive?
