Ever had temporary but complete amnesia?

Similar and sorta opposite to Josh's thread, have you ever woken up not knowing who you were, where you were, or anything at all about your life? (And did you type "smell"?) But seriously, this had happened to me about 3 times (though not for many years) and it was utterly terrifying, even though everything came back in a rush within a few seconds. But those few seconds were unbearably intense, and I can't imagine waking to actual amnesia and maintaining sanity.

Anyway, I have talked about this with lots of people and no one I know has experienced it.

no, i havent had this happen. closest would be waking and not knowing where i was and why i was there, but that isnt really the same.
i dont think i would like amnesia either.
does anyone know someone who has suffered amnesia?

I periodically wake up and think that I have woken up in a room I used to live in, along with thinking that I am the me that lived in those rooms, but it always goes away a few seconds later, and that's not the same as forgetting everything.

I saw the Bourne Identity last night, and I was thinking how cool it would be to have temporary amnesia. But I have never experienced it, and don't know exactly how it would be.
