My current fave is an Indian car commercial (click to download - I'm going to take down the link tomorrow.) I only wish commercials in America were this funny.

I absolutley love the Bueno advert, it's so funny "you can lick my ripples!"

Plinky (Plinky), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

that isn't funny...sorry...

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 17:17 (twenty-three years ago)

that car advert is classic.

i still can't get over the (new?) durex slogan: "there's sex, and then there's durex". they seem to think this reflects well on their product.

zurich insurance: it has pigs flying!

the Pot Noodle 'slag of all snacks' thing was quite cool...i actually had a little Pot Noodle phase a year ago (shudder)

The commercial you get when you click on the TV set at www.unboring.com is THE GREATEST EVER (and was directed by Spike Jonze).

Those "You are CRAZY" IKEA ones.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 31 October 2002 00:12 (twenty-three years ago)

How about those "if I wasn't working here, I'd be hanging around here all the time anyway because IT'S SUCH OVERWHELMING FUN!!" Walmart commercials?

I still stand by Bueno, it's such a blatant use of sex to market something completly non-sexual it makes me giggle, and the wee voice is cute....
They've changed the Pot Noodle ads, it's a disgrace, it's now the Oo-er/Tut tut/something equally dud of all snacks instead of Slag.

Plinky (Plinky), Friday, 1 November 2002 10:56 (twenty-three years ago)

what the hell is Bueno?

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 1 November 2002 15:07 (twenty-three years ago)

i hate the Bueno ad - that voice drives me maaaad!

i did love the recent Tango ones tho...esp. the commentator and the porcupine - "when you've...prepared...as well as this - hello to you..." hahahaha

It's some thing made by those Kinder Surprise folk. Basically the ad is a guy in a shop and the chocolate bar starts talking to him like a cheap ho "you want some fly boy?" in a daft little voice, then continues with such classic lines as "you can lick my ripples". It's just so blatant it tickles me greatly.

Apple Tango did pretty much the exact same advert (as the Bueno one) a while ago, didn't they?

Archel (Archel), Friday, 1 November 2002 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Did they? Damn I missed it!

Plinky (Plinky), Friday, 1 November 2002 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

that sounds trippy.

i remember the 80s kinder adds when the eggs said weird things like "eebo shakey!" and "choca doobie!". i want a choca doobie. nooch.

two years pass...
(um, there was a newer thread than this but i can't find it)

the goatherd girl with the big hands. think i recognise the music used on it as well as ian masters did a version under one of his many assumed names on Friendly Science (it's a traditional japanese thing)

as someone mentioned on BB thread the new bookend ads for TalkTalk do not suck, are easy to ignore and each rewatch reveals something new (the three Hi people who wear green on one side for instance). i also like the way they all scatter at the end.

> "choca doobie!"

you're kidding, right?

Okay these are pretty awesome:
