I always found a curious to how tthese feathers were attached to their bodies. there's never been any clue to this mystery. and do they flap their wings like butterflies or do they just glide by?

I caught a bird (a chaffinch) and shaved off all its feathers apart from the wings to see how its wings were attached and to relate it to angels. It was interesting as hell. I now know the answer to your question but I can't describe it.
