i just saw a fly doing tai chi!

i was lying in the grass in my backyard when i suddenly focussed in on a tiny fly who was perched on a dandelion leaf, slowly arcing its two front legs around, one by one, over and over again. it seemed to be looking right at me too (spose all flies are always looking right at you if they're in the same general area though) but then it got distracted when an even tinier little red spider invaded its leaf - it swerved around and did the slow arm windmills in the spider's direction and the spider ran away!

insect ballet is so terrific! if you get a chance to watch one of those walking-stick bugs (they look like anorexic grasshopers who've spent some time being stretched on the rack) climbing a wall: oh man is it cool: like watching computer-generated film of a theoretical machine, only it's not cg nor theoretical, it's a way cool bug walking all weird-like up the wall
