I thought there was a thread on this, but couldn't find it.
I saw it last night and thought it was just grebt.

Warning: following review gives away entire movie...
I just thought it was delightfully ridiculous and entertaining. Silly, yet with an artistic slant.
I thought the film was casted well too - Tim Robbins always looks like a big baby to me anyway, and Patricia Arquette is very believable as she evolves from wild, one-with-nature fearlessness to pink-on-pink domestic insecurity. And back again. I like that her character just breaks out into song at the start of the film. As Tim Robbins babbles on and on in his death about forgetting everything. And Ryhs Ifans makes a great pale, skinny jungle man.
It is all very much like a fairytale. A movie featuring mice with table manners and people swinging from trees. And I am a huge fan of Stuart Little (ie: human-like mice), silly comedies, and Bjork vids.
Overall: I rate this movie Pure Fun.

Let me second this -- got the DVD collection of their videos the other day, and while I love the Baillie Smith videos from Blue Lines and the run of them from Mezzanine as well, this video might just be my fave of the bunch next to "Angel." The little detail that keeps popping up around the edges as the camera keeps moving is a dream.

one of the most fantastic things about Gondry's work is he is like a magician who does the most amazing visual illusion-based tricks but he likes to show you how they're done from time to time and give you teasing glimpses throughout the films - just enough for you to go 'wow' first because of the magical aspect and then by the scientiff reality aspect - double impact! i am really looking forward to seeing 'Human Nature' now!

Heh. Yes, it's in there. One of the most unerotic videos ever, but clearly that was the point.
'Angel' has a video?! i never ever saw it., waaaaah - must get that DVD pronto
Friend Stripey amusingly noted that it has the cinematographic feel of a Nike ad in ways, end of the 1990s style, but in terms of a brilliant spin on the lyrics, it's absolutely wonderful, because you think one thing and it turns out to be another. Subtle but beautifully done.
'Sly' is a classic video too - you can tell its by Stephane
I liked it but I didn't love it. I thought it was very much of its time and place (midnineties) without being uniquely distinct.

Yeah, you're right! The artifice as employed in "Protection" is so skillfully, even warmly done.
I think what's great about just about all the Massive Attack videos is how well they use 3D and Daddy G in particular. They both have amazingly expressive faces and are very good actors for the medium, sometimes in the subtlest of ways.

we havent mentioned the brilliant 'Karmacoma' either but seeing as this is not a Massive Attack thread we should probably leave it (there will be one about their new album/single soon)

Best Tarantino film Tarantino never made. Alternately, best Kubrick film etc.

Would like to see Zizek review it cos it's a vg movie for Lacanians. Robbins, as ever, ruins the movie, but you can really feel Gondry learning to direct through the movie -- it starts quite poor, but eventually, the comedy is golden, almost as good as 'Adaptation' (also written by Charlie Kaufman). He's certainly got an eye. Rhys Ifans was actually very funny -- never thought I'd say that. And there's even jokes about Wittgenstein. Certainly shd have been released properly.
