surprisingly many people upon my telling em i am an only child exclaim things like "oh! really?! b-but you're really normal and nice!". TO MY FACE! conversely once they know this they will later go during disagreements "oh yr SUCH an only child!" i have a vague idea of the textbook only child but i can't really comment from experience... what do you expect of a fille unique? does anyone ever have any experience to back it up?

I thought this thread was about Henry Kissenger. Was he an only child?

I got that all the time growing up; kids would tell me I was spoiled because I was an only child. (This was at a gifted school where all the other kids were posh but had divorced parents, so I did feel spoiled by having a loving stable family.) I avoid mentioning it now.

Tragically I was an only twin.

Somehow I thought this thread was about 'chilli.'

Yum.

I am not an only child, but I am the oldest child (of 3) which makes me spoiled and heady too, right?

A conversation proving my mate Tom and I can't talk much sense to each other normally (I've known him for around five years, this took place about two weeks ago).

"I can't believe you didn't know I was half-Canadian Anna. I have a sister too."
"Oh right. I'm an only child."
"Bollocks."
"Why would I bother lying to you about that?"
"But you're too nice and generous to be an only child."
"Um, thanks, I think."
