Can you remind us who is behind the less obvious names, Jel? I mean, I can guess at track 1, I think, being a clever person, but track 2 is less obvious, and so on. Haven't had a chance to play it yet.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 14 December 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i tried using the ilx0r webmail cos i dont really trust my email accounts, so check cos me and e-mails dont really seem to get along

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Saturday, 14 December 2002 18:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I've listened to it now, and I really enjoyed it. Part of that is just the pleasure of listening to people who are, to a greater or lesser degree, pals, so hearing the likes of Jel, Dr C and the Pinefox in action has a huge extra boost, but lots of it is good. I was a most surprised by the opener, since I had expected singing from Dan, since he is a pro (it was one of the best tracks anyway!). I shall treasure this! And I feel annoyed that I failed to even buy Jel a drink last night = I owe you one!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 14 December 2002 18:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't wait to hear this! And I'm pleased to see that it features, as any good ILX comp should, at least two songs about robot love.

nabisco (nabisco), Saturday, 14 December 2002 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I can only see one on the tracklist. But then, I haven't a clue what the 18 non-pinefox tracks sound like.

the pinefox, Saturday, 14 December 2002 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

The odd glow you see in the western sky is my full-on black person blush, Martin.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can't wait to hear this all myself -- heard all the mp3 submissions and there were many winners, so the full collection will be a dream!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 00:57 (twenty-three years ago)

...

jel -- (jel), Monday, 16 December 2002 09:45 (twenty-three years ago)

jel did you got the e-mail??

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Monday, 16 December 2002 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel, did you get my email too?

smee (smee), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

The Pinefox track wasn't what I was expecting.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry shoulda replied, yes to both Smee and Chupa!!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanx jel was starting to get a bit paranoid!

smee (smee), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd like to make a song. I've recorded myself singing The Rose and it's tragically bad.

toraneko (toraneko), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

The Pinefox track wasn't what I was expecting.

Mission accomplished!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Has Mike become the Martin Hannett of our time?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Michael "zero" Jones?

chris (chris), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I also like track 8.

Graham (graham), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you Graham.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Monday, 16 December 2002 16:47 (twenty-three years ago)

**6 and 12 are my faves so far**

Thank you Graham.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 16 December 2002 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Just a note, BTW, that my track only really 'works' if you listen in stereo.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 01:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I was gonna say my track only "works" if you lower your standards, but then I realized thanks Graham!

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 02:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Did you get my email too, jel?

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 03:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Dr C's track is my second favourite. And I haven't even heard it yet.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Bet you can't WAIT. Don't worry it's not reggae ;)

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Problem is you never got to the end of that argument with the PF. After all he said "I don't like reggae" and you jumped on him before he could say: "I love it"

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 12:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel, seriously-can I get a copy if you can spare one?

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I couldn't be bothering with a round-the-houses approach, I had a train to catch, Pete! And a kebab was calling!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Did I miss the PF at the FAP then? Damn.

I feel privileged to have been the first person after Jel (I think) to listen to the comp. Made the train journey to the west country much more bearable. Some v. talented foax out there...

Jeff W, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I am listening to this NOW at work! Di - get WHAT done?!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Crikey it's hem-hem eclectic this innit?

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Phay the beginning of yours sounds like an alternative universes take on the theme tune to Bergerac!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh no!! A flute!! Bergerac is now skipping around the fields of Jersey with Fotherington Thomas!! B-b-but JIM wot about the CRIME???

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

yes, christine I got yr email!

Sorry to be so slow at answering emails, I must set up an ilxcomp email addy (the one on the misprinted track list isn't set up yet).

Nordic - I'll send you one.

Everyone else not on the list - I don't think I have too many to spare now, sorry, but if you if you know someone who's got one/getting one, you can ask them to burn a copy for ya!

I'll be sending them out between nowish and the middle of January. I'll post a message when I've set up an ilxcomp address, and you can send snail mail addys and whatnot to it!

Sarah, yeah, it's hella eclectic!!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Track 12 is exactly the kind of INDIE CRAP that I love!! Rockter C lives up to his name!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

heh heh for an 'eclectic' comp there were an awful lot of ambient soundscapes on there as I recall. I kept thinking "ah, this one must be the PF blizzard one. No, wait..." ;)

Jeff W, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

my song features the sound of the casio vltone, and hotel bell sample.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

It took me ages to notice Nabisco's song title wasn't abstract.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh no!! A flute!! Bergerac is now skipping around the fields of Jersey with Fotherington Thomas!!
hemhem.THAT'Z A M3LL0TR0N, FUX0R!@#!@#!@#!@#

Pashmina, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

sarah - don't ask me, ask duckling.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 22:37 (twenty-three years ago)

**Track 12 is exactly the kind of INDIE CRAP that I love!! Rockter C lives up to his name!**

Haha! Yes, this little number was big in the Camden Monarch for oh, 10 minutes back in 1996.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 23 December 2002 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

the pple who've got it, i wanna know, did you like it??

jel -- (jel), Monday, 23 December 2002 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Liked this very much and Nitsuh is being overly modest.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 23 December 2002 11:55 (twenty-three years ago)
