If the directors and their attitude to the source material had been swapped, which would have been the better film?

i can't imagine Peter Jackson's Harry Potter being all that suitable for kids. i mean, i don't know any of his early horror stuff (am not a horror fan) but even i can see the horror influence in eg. the Orcs often put me in mind of a manflesh-hungry zombie horde. i can see him having a field day with the Harry Potter monsters (eg the LAVATORY TROLL) but i think the kiddies wd weep with ph34r.

Chris Columbus = a bit meh from what i can make out.

Supposedly the new Harry Potter book has been held up because the publishers are uncomfortable with how explicitly Rowlings is depicting Harry's adolescent changes. I'd like to see what Jackson could do with such a theme, but as Katie said, the results probably wouldn't be suitable for children.
