Wigs: Classic or MORE CLASSIC THAN CLASSIC?

I went out tonight in a spiteful mood. My friend bought a wig recently that looked suspiciously like MY hair and also bought nonprescription glasses that looked like mine. So in my spiteful mood I spotted a wig that looked exactly like her hair, so I bought it. It's easily the best thing I ever bought. Why don't more people buy wigs, for spite or not spite?

Wigs that look like real hair: dud.
Wigs that look like anime hair: More classic than classic!
Spite: not bad, either.

My ex was majorly into wigs from her freaky deaky days trolling around NYC clubland. She had a trunk fulla em(!!). Sometimes, I'd put one on to make dinner in. A wig store is a wicked place to blow an hour or two on a Saturday afternoon.

I have three wigs. One is a Elvis one in foam rubber. Two are platinum ( Veronica Lake and Monroe)

Dunno about spite, but they always make me feel better. I used to have one that made me look like Meryl Streep in the "Dingo killed my baby" movie. It was awesome.

Did you ever have a wig party? It sounds kind of lame and obvious, but if you get 30 be-wigged people in a tiny apartment, people who wouldn't normally wear wigs or go to a drag show (alt-country dudes, Bad Seeds lookalikes, O.C Punk types, guess I'm thinking of guys mainly), it's pretty liberating. And hysterical.

Having said that, though, I do think that muscle/circuit queens in drag on Halloween or at Wigstock are a blight on humanity.

I dunno, I could never pull off the "little red box with an "x" in it look".

nine years pass...

do you have to shave your head to wear one?

five years pass...

Do lots of bald men still buy wigs as much? Or do they get hair plugs or something?

Several months ago on a bus I saw a very old man wearing a big thick bushy brown wig, which was so screamingly obvious that I wonder if he was just wearing it as a nice warm hat.
