,,,How do you know them when you see them? I often talk about them, but I have to admit I probably only half-understand what they are.

While it might perhaps seem obvious...is it?

They're kind of flat fronted and they make you infertile.

Damn, didn't work, and N got there first. Britney wears them, apparently.

If only someone had told me about these before the vasectomy!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 13 January 2003 21:58 (twenty-three years ago)

your vasectomy?

RJG (RJG), Monday, 13 January 2003 22:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Well on the internet, "Martin Skidmore" may just be another persona, you never know (until the truth slips out!)

Vic (Vic), Monday, 13 January 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I haven't been going around vasectomising (if that's the word) other people.

Sadly, it is my real name. Who would make up as rub a name as this?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 13 January 2003 22:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd prefer vasectomying. and I was just checking.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 13 January 2003 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

A vasectomizer

Vic (Vic), Monday, 13 January 2003 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

That could be a new superhero. Or supervillain, arguably.

Prediction: some savvy person will figure out a way to have a book published within the next year, the text of which will exclusively be comprised of gold mined from youtube comments. It will leave "Stuff White People Like" weeping in the remainder bins, in the intimate company of stray bits of pretendah bookworm snot.

Many say that the “millennial generation” was responsible for putting Obama into the Whitehouse after all. And we’re also the generation that founded Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

THE GREATEST GENERATION

that settles it

I mean, that's just a beer. If it could talk, it'd say, "I don't signify anything except you getting drunk."

bamcquern, Monday, 19 April 2010 19:17 (sixteen years ago)

'How do we, the vanguard generation, step out of the shadows of previous generations and contribute something truly new to the evolution of culture? Perhaps most importantly, how do we live up to the incredible opportunity that our parents, society, and—if I may be bold enough—the entire trajectory of the universe has presented us with?'

bamcquern, Monday, 19 April 2010 19:28 (sixteen years ago)

I’m curious about the deeper cultural predicament that this strange youth movement seems to represent—one that I think has some serious implications for the future of humanity. = kids confuse me and make me fear for the future

HORS D'OEUVRES (Curt1s Stephens), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 16:54 (sixteen years ago)

Why did your mom send this to you, Shakey Mo? Did she say? Is it like when my mom calls me at night to tell me things like "Alanis Morisette is on the TV, and I know you like her, so you should check it out" (turns out it was Joanna Newsom)

kissogram powers (Abbott), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

my mom is a "follower" of this guy and she sends me stuff from his magazine whenever it seems like "something I would be interested in" (so I guess the answer is "yes it is EXACTLY like that!")

Dr. Morbius' Moist Deployment (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 18:17 (sixteen years ago)

of course she also sent it to my wife, my brother, and our cousin so it wasn't clear if the implication was that she thinks we are all "hipsters" (which I'll readily admit is loosely accurate) or that she thinks we need to be alerted to this "problem" with our generation or what. Mostly I just laughed.

Dr. Morbius' Moist Deployment (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 18:18 (sixteen years ago)

I would just like to point out that this article is from a magazine that is aimed at "Evolutionaries"

Presumably no one says hipster because it stopped defining anything contemporary and whatever it defined in the past was a thing no one cares to talk about right now. It's not like it was a timeless archetype. It was just another socio-cultural wiggle in an era that wiggles very rapidly.
