13 for me.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

None, though I can't say I've actually looked.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:22 (twenty-three years ago)

give us a link, then...

i can't imagine there being many kitten streets though

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd say the same. and for me.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

[as what nick said...]

RJG (RJG), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

looks like 7, plus a private house with that name

Alan (Alan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Only one, but hey, it's RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF SHOREDITCH. I _am_ a style lab. I knew there was one in London (this is good considering that it's a weird name), but hadn't been arsed to find out where it is before now. We are amused.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Click here then click the 'Street' radio button* and then enter your surname. You only count the streets and roads which are your surname alone - no streets or roads that begin with your surname and have extra letters in them. No sirree. There are rules to this pointless Friday work thread.

(* - It'll start playing garage. Arf.)

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:27 (twenty-three years ago)

1 - surprisingly. In Swansea.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Kitten Clough, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX2
Kittens Lane, Loddon, Norwich, NR14

and my real name:
there must be 100 or so. can't be bothered to count.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

31!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

An avenue in Denny, between Stirling and Cumbernauld. I am amazed.

Tag, Friday, 17 January 2003 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

1 - surprisingly. In Swansea.

And you have to share it with someone called Craig.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Shitloads

John High (daveb), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Moi aussi

Mike Market (daveb), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I have millions! Almost literally. If I get much more bored this afternoon I will count.

Emma, Friday, 17 January 2003 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Buggeration

Paul Maindrag (daveb), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

8 for me, including Farrell's Field. Get off my field!

Angela Cotters owns this thread with 47. Or 8 if it just has to be Cotter. Or 5 if it can't be Cotter's.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I am pretty impressed with 131, I bet there's not even half that many in Ireland. There's only about 135 streets here anyway that aren't described as "that one where Johnny lives" or "just beside o'sheas pub".

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got a whole area of Londinium named after me, thanks.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Weird, 9 of them. Five are in London, though.

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

5! I have a croft in Wiggington, I am going to raise an army and march upon it to reclaim my birth right.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

17!!! Only 3 of which are in England though.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

473 (more or less)! Ph34r me!

Emma, Friday, 17 January 2003 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Uh, there's about 6ty Kay Streets (& Kay Closes!), though.

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

181 (im at work so counting wasnt a problem)

james (james), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I think cos I'm Irish my streets are worth 2 each.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:45 (twenty-three years ago)

About 24 streets, mind. Southall Lane seems to be popular.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

the problem with this thread is what about where the streets have no name?

Alan (Alan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

wahoo! I just did place as well, I have a farm in Hertfordshire!

And a town with mysurname+wood on the end in Shropshire!

Emma has an isle!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

That's totally irrelevant Alan, unless you are Clint Eastwood.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Fit*gerald House

A new style sweeping across the nations dancefloors.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:51 (twenty-three years ago)

NONE! (Liz lives in nearly me street though of course!)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha there is also a Hamilton Stud. And when I tried it with Emma there is an Emma View up north where people can, er, come and look at me.

Emma, Friday, 17 January 2003 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

probably quite a few.

chris (chris), Friday, 17 January 2003 13:57 (twenty-three years ago)

243 and, yeah, i did count 'em.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

There are two Rachel's Ways :)

(I used to live in one of the millions of Hamilton Roads.)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

22 for me if I count Hesterman and Hestercombe!

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

35. Not including the likes of Balls Corner and Balls Pond Road.

James Ball (James Ball), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I stopped counting at 81. I think there's something on the order of 200 there.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

7 and not one of them in London. I'm so provincial.

Jeff W, Friday, 17 January 2003 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

None as well! I wonder if there's an Italian version of streetmap - let me check... Nope. There's a villa with my surname in Vicenza, that much I know. Otherwise, nul points.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

There is a solictors office called Sinker, Bourke and someting near where I work, if that's any consoliation mark s.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I always think of ILX when I go past it on the bus.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:45 (twenty-three years ago)

sinkah estates!

zebedee, Friday, 17 January 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

The Isle of Wight is cool, I like it.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 17 January 2003 15:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Not one Raggett street. BAH!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 January 2003 15:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Skidmore Avenue, Dosthill, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B_77
Skidmore Drive, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B_70
Skidmore Road, Bilston, West Midlands, WV14
Skidmore Way, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, WD3
and in Anna's old territory, there's:
Skidmore Avenue, Wolverhampton, WV3

I am surprised.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 17 January 2003 19:33 (twenty-three years ago)

It took five minutes without returning anything for "West", not altogether surprisingly.

thom w (thom w), Friday, 17 January 2003 20:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I am very excited about:
Chow Square, London, E_8 !!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 January 2003 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

61, I think. Wales beats London 20-2.

Rhosllanerchrugog!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 17 January 2003 20:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Zero for me, but I'd be surprised to see a German name applied to a U.K street.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 17 January 2003 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

the query returned no matches, please try again

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 17 January 2003 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer, a few ILXers live around there (North Dalston, just off Kingsland Rd). They might take a look and report back if you ask nicely.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 17 January 2003 21:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Hooray! There is a Nipper Lane in Manchester.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 17 January 2003 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

(by the way, "please try again" with a search engine bothers me: i can try again but i seriously doubt they'll have built any roads with my name on them in the ten seconds it takes to resubmit the query)

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 17 January 2003 21:33 (twenty-three years ago)

About 20! I'm surprised. All of them have words like "Bridge" or "End" or "Hole" though, they are cute and make me think of hobbit places.

Maria (Maria), Friday, 17 January 2003 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

They might take a look and report back if you ask nicely

That would be great! Actually, I might have to come out there to see it myself at some point in the near future (especially since Mary and Felicity have got me all jealous about their big FAP thing!).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 January 2003 21:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Surprisingly, none. Perhaps it's an error with the system.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Friday, 17 January 2003 22:01 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, that's what i was thinking too

geeta (geeta), Friday, 17 January 2003 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Celeste (Celeste), Saturday, 18 January 2003 19:21 (twenty-three years ago)

wow, there's loads (i think i counted 77) - avenues and lanes and closes and banks etc.etc. - and all over the u.k.! i am really really surprised, it's not even a common name (in English anyway)

sand.y, Saturday, 18 January 2003 20:22 (twenty-three years ago)

ten months pass...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/simpsons/images/quotes/hotlead.gif

Dada, Sunday, 7 December 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

this doesn't make sense for me, I know there's streets and a nature preserve with my name but I only found a town, and that under an alternate spelling.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 7 December 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

There are more than sixty with my surname.

kirsten (kirsten), Sunday, 7 December 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

How very interesting.

kirsten (kirsten), Sunday, 7 December 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

In this thread, we use Streetmap to find out how many streets in the UK share your surname

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Though I do have to take the j.lu approach to this and admit actual surprise if a street, avenue, lane, way, or other paved conveyance were to actually take a Spanish-language name.

No, honey child, paved conveyances featuring my surname would most probably be in the U.S., Latin America, and the Philippines. That's it. Though I am a bit curious about my given name. Must search after typing this little post out.

Tenacious Dee (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 7 December 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 7 December 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

17, it seems. Not too shabby.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Sunday, 7 December 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Just the one, though I'm astonished there's even that. To my chagrin, it's in Ilford.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 7 December 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 7 December 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)
