Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash today. I can't believe she's gone.

Initially I thought you were making a *very* sick joke indeed given the previous message, but I'll be damned:

http://www.cnn.com/2001/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/26/ bahamas.crash.ap/index.html

Some part of me fears a horrible, maudlin tribute record from somebody somewhere. Hope to heaven they let her just rest in peace indeed...

This is all we need. Tragic news, indeed. I can't believe she's gone, either.

Holy shit.

Ally, Sunday, 26 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

According to the NME story though, the plane was vastly overloaded and was never going to make it off the runway. Could she have possibly been a victim of "Don't you know who I am?" syndrome, where busy PAs will do anything to stop their employer being even slightly inconvenienced?

Five years almost. And who knew then that a couple of weeks after it the news focus would change somewhat.

Aaliyah died in an plane crash, do you see! And she had secretary named George Bush who, just a week earlier, told her to beware the phantom airplanes...

Also, in Hebrew "aaliyah" means ascent and refers to the Jewish immigration to Israel, do you see how it all adds up?

It's incredible. It shows how far ILX goes back. I was barely on solids in '01, and addicted to the IMDb forums (as they used to be, before the changeover in August '02). I made the "Licence to Kill" joke back then, although it wasn't well recieved.

Good God, I wonder how old Bio and Swede's baby Matthew must be by now!!!!!!!! 5? 6? O God!!!!!!!!!
