Ouija Board Summons Satan

I have never dabbled. Not least becuz the name makes me giggle — the word "yes" in two major Euroopean languages, how spooky is THAT?!? — but one of my favourite books (Shot in the Heart: Mikal Gilmore) has a frankly terrifying Ouija ghost sequence, and my friend TJ last night told me a less actively horrible but every bit as uncanny how-can-this-be-so anecdote.

1. Not to step on or detract from Johnathan's Hex Induction thread — only I meant to post this last night, and didn't want to miss out on the Jad Fair ref...
2. If we can all start referring to Him as Andrew Lloyd Satan — as per anthony's comment on Madonna vs JanetJ — I will be a v.happy man.

I've never dabbled in this as I'm too scared, which is silly as I'm not affiliated with any religion or anything [but nor am I an atheist, such a position defies reason].

The mormon church had these whole long stories about people who died doing this therefore i cannot .

Did this fer shits and giggles as a kid -- then my parents became Born Again, remembered that my older sister had one of the things, took it and locked it away. An odd postulude that was, considering how tolerant my folks usually were.

Ouija boards = DUD for inspiring one of the worst Morrissey songs of all time (ergo, one of the worst songs of all time).

The worst story I've heard wasn't bad at all. At a birthday party when I was around eleven a girl said that she had been using the Ouija board and her dead hamster's wheel started turning, so whenever we played we had to ask for God to channel or we might get an evil spirit. (I do not know how she drew this conclusion.) We tried to play, but she insisted on a mood of reverence and concentration, and I started laughing uncontrollably every time I thought of the hamster. This resulted in no successful attempts and no one having any fun but me.

My dad went to college with a girl who was killed (supposedly), and the urban legend was that she was doing Ouija board right before she got murdered. Take as you will.

I don't believe that anything bad happens to you for using fortune telling tools necessarily, it's all in what you do with it. That being said, I think Ouija boards are crap and fake and people just push around the thing to spell what they feel like spelling, I know I used to.

Shot in the Heart is a brilliant book. The whole thing's as spooked and terrifying as Andrew Lloyd Satan Himself.

As for Ouija boards, I did one or two when I was younger to absolutely no effect. I reckon there are some people (ie. psychics) who know what they're doing with them. Most people obviously don't.

Being psychic: C or D?

Think it's funny (peculiar) that Parker Bros, of all ppl, still make Ouija Boards, and that hardly any shops in the UK stock 'em...

We used to make ouija boards out of the middle pages of copybooks and practice our dark magic in between classes at school. We got Eva Braun once but she predicted both my exam results and the initials of the first person i would kiss wrong. Perhaps she was looking for more probing questions.

Just remembered this: in squat year 1982 knew ubergoth junkie dominatrix Z (rowr like the Empress of Everywhere Evil). OK, she told me not to look at her tarot deck as is bad luck. But when she went out of the room I did anyway. She died c.1985 at her mom's house: heart attack following kicking heroin successfully by pure willpower...

Of course there is no connection, except in my head.

Nickie, there's no such thing as kissing wrong. It's all about confidence and compatibility. But, as a matter of interest, who did you kiss wrong and did they make a big fuss?
