You asked a question about Sean Connery and then referenced two films he was not involved in which rhyme a bit with the words Classic and Dud. Hmm, s'not rocket science is it.

GOod in The Hill. Pants in everything else.

Pete, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He's Sean Connery, of course he's great by definition.

Ally, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would've thought he was a hero of Pete's as they are both WOMAN BEATERS. I used to live near his house in Spain which wasn't very exciting, I never saw him or anything.

Emma, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not a woman beater. I merely return fire when under attack. I have never hit a woman first. Or probably as hard (except for that time I hit someone with a lamp-post).

Ronan Keating lives very near me now, I think I said that already, do I qualify for coolness by association? Pete does that redeem me a little after my ridiculous presumption that Jurassic and Stud were words in their own right which do not, in my mind automatically refer to films. The Ads certainly worked on you anyway, and I thought I was a cranky pedant sometimes..........

Ronan, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like him on celebrity Jeopardy on SNL.

Shean Connery ish truly a renaisshanche man, shomeone who can asshume any natshionality for the purposhesh of whatever theshpian role he ish ashaying. He cshertainly ishn't an embarrashing old oaf who can't act and alwaysh deliversh the shame shelf parodying performanshe in every film he ish in.

DV, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jurassic - as in pertaining to the Jurassic period. Mr Connery is not that old. Stud, as referring to horses - Mr Conerry is not a horse.

Sorry, everything I see relates to films, especially when the question is about a film star. Pedantry is for sissies.

Pete, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You really killed my buzz there for a minute,

Ronan, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I re-read your second posting, and I think you're still killing it actually.

Ronan, Tuesday, 28 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom, Wednesday, 29 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sean Connery = classic because he loves Scotland so much he lives in Spain. What an advert.

DG, Wednesday, 29 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Horrible. I fail to see the attraction or the cause of my mother's obsession.

Lyra, Wednesday, 29 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OK well i don't watch many films. but the fact that SC even consented to BE in 'the rock' demotes him to dud status i'm afraid. and i watched a few james bond films the other week (ITV were doing a season, i believe) and they were all pretty crap. from russia with love my arse. not even just chauvanistic, just... crap. so there you have it.

katie, Wednesday, 29 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick: it's called chelking. Still legal in Clwyd.

Michael Jones, Wednesday, 29 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You know what? I reckon ol' Spielburg had Connery lined up for Jurrasic Park. See that Richard Attenborough (sp?)? You don't reckon they made him a Scot because his on-off accent was such a crowd puller, do you?
