Of course it's rare - work out the odds of coming within the same, say, 2 or 3 seconds! That's only 10% of the entire act!

I reckon it's more an ego/pride thing. You think you've got super- fine sexual technique because you can hold back/speed up just right. If, for some reason, you're shagging someone who bizarrely has exactly the same sexual duration as you, I'm sure it's handy, but it really makes very little difference. because it's full of proteins called semenogelins that coagulate to form a thick gel (that's why dried semen is so nasty). the point of this gel is to keep the semen up where it belongs and to protect it from an immune response.

also because it's mostly protein think of beating an egg. you whip for a bit and you get a cream, you whip longer and you get stiff peaks. same idea.
