Alternatively, fresh-faced little wonders, the hope of our nation, opinions (admittedly naive) but expressed without the cynicism of their elders.

I can't wait until I'm an older person. These younger people, it's like being nibbled to death by guppies.
― Abbott, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 03:40 (eighteen years ago)
the phenomenon these days is not so much protracted adolescence as permanent adolescence. when i was young i wanted to be older too and now I'm well into my 30s and everyone still acts the same.
― wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 03:56 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, I don't expect anyone else to change. I just don't want to be mistaken for one of those young people. It doesn't help that I look about 15 years old.
― Abbott, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 03:57 (eighteen years ago)
Stereotypes are partially justified. I think some older people upset by generalities in general. The idea of guppies being partially correct gets on their nerves. But mostly, I think they are bothered by triviality. And that's why many of them think that youngsters are all a bunch of annoying elitists or hooligans whom get off on persnickety annoying crap when really their opinions are justified being said just as much as any other person with the same IQ. Getting upset over such triviality is like hating on anything that's not "big picture" significant.
Many of the younger people see the big picture as irrelevant. What's the point if there's no point to life? Say whatever the hell you want. And if they are smart enough, hopefully they won't want to say anything completely rude or out-of-line, but yeah, the freedom of speech shouldn't be so damn upsetting to lots of people.
If you are prone to migraines then you just get buggered more easily. But why are you so inclined to migraines? Why must everything bother old people? Because they are crotchety.

Classic, says Shakespeare:
VI. A Madrigal CRABBED Age and Youth Cannot live together: Youth is full of pleasance, Age is full of care; Youth like summer morn, Age like winter weather, Youth like summer brave, Age like winter bare; Youth is full of sport, Age's breath is short, Youth is nimble, Age is lame; Youth is hot and bold, Age is weak and cold, Youth is wild, and Age is tame:— Age, I do abhor thee; Youth, I do adore thee: O! my Love, my Love is young! Age, I do defy thee— O sweet shepherd, hie thee, For methinks thou stay'st too long.

my sister and i used to sing 'she's leaving home' in ominous voices, then our parents threw us out.

Love it when some stupid old fart decides they're in a position to give you valuable life advice when they've seemingly spent the last 30 years eating ready meals, watching TV and collecting gonks to stick around their work area. Yeah, thanks for pointing out that I can't get a promotion because of "immigrants" when there aren't even any working in the building.
