[mark s, this one's for you]

Coming out of my ILE lurkerdom for a second to be entirely perplexed. Have I had an essential part of my brain removed, or has Buffy's sister only just been introduced to the show? Who is she, and where does she come from? What does she want from me? Help me someone, please...

Where she comes from is part of the plot... I don't want to give anything away...

'Happened to see' (ie too lazy to switch over) ten minutes of Duffy tonight and there was this guy w/ silver hair called Spike who spoke w/the worst English accent this side of Daphne Moon. Wots that all abt? Is he meant to be English? Is the actor really English (like Jane Leeves?) Is Spike yet another Evil Brit? And what happened to Mr Gold Blend?

Nah, the guy who plays Spike is a sceptic through and through. Has been in the series for years. Gold blend guy also still around - although he's angling for a return to the old country via improbable BBC-produced spin-off. Can't believe that seasoned Buffy viewers, after everything that has happened, have been so thrown by the unexplained sister thing.

Whole series of Dallas (where Bobby = dead) = a dream... No I don't know where Dawn came from. I assume we're meant to wondering, what, did Buffy's dad have her till now, perhaps, what's with that? Or is this some illusion thing (effect of Dracula's bite? miasmatic-mesmeric headfuck). Anyway, it's hellacool, as a plot device, and I am excitedly looking forward to finding out what Joss W's wack rationalisation is. Also she reminds me of someone I once had a thing for, also ie is a somewhat self- obsessed young dramaqueen...

Spike's accents ISN'T the "worst" you ever heard, don;lt be silly. It's just not that good.

I could tell you but you would have to kill me.

How many seasons are you behind again?

I'm in the odd position of having only gotten Sky half way through this series, so I mostly know where she came from, but don't much about how she arrives.

How many seasons are you behind again?

On normal free TV, episode 2, season 5. On satellite/cable/digital S5 ended two weeks after it did in America. Has S6 started there yet? Apparently we have to wait until January.

Dapne Moon's accent is pretty genuine if a bit hammed up. (I think you need to vist zone 7 more).

wasn't sure about buffys sister. seemed superfluous and irritating, but at the end where she said "boy is she in for a surprise" makes it look likes its going to be good after all. rrrrolll on thursday!

Daphne Moon's accent is crap! A Mongolian could sound more convincingly Manc than her!

Emma, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

weird fact: jane leeves looks EXACTLY like the v.young prunella scales yet they are not related

mark s, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blimey Ed, have you actually met anyone from Manchester?

Richard Tunnicliffe, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Who remembers the Buffy where the sexy werewolf was trying to score Seth Greene.(is that his name) That episode was great.

Ronan, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, she was rowr!

gareth, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah I'd give her some silver bullets, hurhur, she could maul me any day, hurhur, something about full moons, hurhur,

Ronan, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Even crapper Brit accent than Spike or Daphne's - her cheeky 'cockney' bruvver. We're talking Dick Van Dyke class...

Andrew L, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't want to give the game away except to say that the Dawn character and the plots involving her get better and better and better. Season 5 utterly rocked.

Yeah, already classic "what the fuck is this lame plot move" moment. Thanks to crap Dutch tv culture where series suddenly stop in the middle of the summer because "the audience is abroad and fuck everybody who stays at home" policy I've only seen about 6 or 7 episodes of the new Buff and Angel seasons. Danw-situation will be resolved and after intense disliking sort of fancy her lately. Nice come-back for Buffy (Spike's sexual fantasies about Buffy = classic), Angel still mantaining usual level of excellence. Hey, that reminds me they're going to actually start again with the series this week.
