is there a bit of hysteria building around this whole thing? i've heard variations on "they need to take his kids away" from so many co-workers, but other than the baby-dangling and sleeping in the same room as little boys, what has he done to make him an unfit dad? (hard-working "other than" there)

Denied childhood= obsessed w/anything related to childhood.
Abused and not accepted by father= low self-esteem, shy, w/drawn
teased and made to feel incredibly self-conscious about appearance= gets enough money to do something about his appearance, but it backfires on him= once again teased and made to feel incredibly self-conscious about looks= unrepairable damage (to psyche and face)

perfect example of (nearly) unlimited resources met with (nearly) unlimited opportunity and complete lack of imagination (at least since Thriller, which, let's face it, wasn't THAT great.)
