Found out today that one of my pets will probably need to be put to sleep due to cancer. Found out yesterday that my mothers boyfriend of 10 years has fathered a child with another woman about a year ago. My mother received a court summons for her bf yesterday. Seeing that my father cheated on my mother and now this, its really hurting me seeing my mom like this all over again. I feel like I have no luck right now and am really down in the dumps. ugh.

Aw Chris, I'm sorry - sounds like lots of crap all at once.

Be succoured by the fact that I am NOT sending you any pictures of kittens. Go here instead.

chris i am so sorry to hear all of this. i don't know what to say to make you feel better, but i will try a little...
we all accept that pets usually live shorter lives than us. by putting your pet to sleep, you will be saving him/her from pain, which is the best you can do. there is no way to make you feel better, but you pet can either suffer more or suffer less.
as for your mother, it must be difficult to see old, bad patterns repeated. there is the sadness over the deception, but also the sadness that comes from having your hopes for a better future for your mother dashed. just try and help her through this situation, and eventually, the storm will pass.
i hope everything works out soon. :-)

Chris, My mom had to put down her cat a little while ago due to cancer too. Now she has a new kitty. She didn't get to pick hers out, but it's a very sweet cat.
I'm so sorry to hear about your pet. What's his/her name? I'm sure it will be deeply missed.

Also sorry to hear about your mom. Good luck.

when our cat clifford died in 1999 it was an awful day, he really was a part of the family, and is still missed greatly today. we think he was poisoned, not intentionally, but he got very sick very quickly with something, and his kidneys went. and he knew as well, which made it so sad, and my mum took him to the vet, and he knew he was being put down, and it was, i feel sick now thinking about it. people downgrade pets and say they are not really that important, but they are, they really are.

With my wife I don't get no respect. I got no sex life. In my house we put the mirror over the dogs bed.

Its Maggie one of my cats. We adopted her about 4 years ago and the place we adopted her from didn't really know how old she was. They thought she was about a year. After talking to the vet today, she said it was possible the Maggie was older than we thought, due to the fact that cancer usually comes on around the ages of 8-10. Its hurting me to do this, but its seeing my wife completely broken up thats killing me. She loves my wife so much and always goes to her...its breaking my heart, but I know and my wife knows it will be the best decision. I've never had to go through the experience of putting a pet down and I feel similiar to what it feels like when someone hurts you inside. It sucks.

I'm having an awful day too. Maybe this will cheer you up. Recent college basketball game in my general area...one of the girls showed up with this sign. I think by "Dick," she means legendary sports announcer Dick Vitale, but I'll leave that up to you.

sorry to hear that things are so shitty...

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you folks, its nice to hear kind words from people who you don't really even know and they don't really know you. Makes you feel loved it does. Thanks again!

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 01:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think I ever actually offered some proper cheer! Glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope all goes as well as it can in both cases -- losing a pet is hard as hell but it really can be for the best if terrible pain is the alternative.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Hang-in there Chris - I spent most of the day moping over the fact that I have to put my hamster to sleep - I took him to the vet and it turns out he had a prolapsed rectum (yeah, gross!) and the vet fixed him and thinks he still has some good months in him. I am sorry about what you are going through, but it's one of the responsibilities that we assume when we invite another creature to share our lives. Thank her for her company and gifts of love and launghter and memories - it'll help, I mean it.

And now, to cheer you up, go watch this sick video *grin* (And if it doesn't work, then design a new muppet character.)
