Mary gets her name (nearly) from someone who was arguably nonfictional, but apart from that (and the way her son's behaviour bugged her) everything else about the character is fiction. John the Baptist probably less fictional until Salome stuff, which is mostly made up and basis of virginity allegation, as you say.
