I have a job interview with the Office of the Chief Counsel of the IRS in Washington, D.C.

Discuss.

When next year's return comes in, you know where to send the extra refund money to.

So what exactly does this job in entail? Are you representing the kinder IRS these days? ;-)

It would be more transactional, as opposed to litigation-oriented. Stuff like drafting Treasury Regulations (which interpret sections of the IRS code), private letter rulings (when attorneys and others with tax questions with respect to a given issue ask the IRS about the likely tax consequences of a certain transaction), position papers. Plus lots of legal research for cases the IRS brings to trial in the U.S. Tax Court or the Department of Justice. It's actually pretty interesting (if one likes tax work) -- only drawback is that it's in D.C., and I hate Washington, D.C. with a passion.

It's also kind of funny, since the I.R.S. turned me down when I was still in law school for a spot doing tax litigation work.

The IRS, much like the infamous Tim Dogg, can suck a big fat dick. I'm still smarting from my "Refund Check" as promised by George "Big Fat Poo Poo Head Liar Man" W. Bush ($300 dollars a person my arse...I got...wait for it...$3.75. No, I'm not joking.)

I think Tadeusz is a spy. Expect an audit next year, Jess. :)

I haven't gotten my check yet, but I've been informed by mail that I'm getting the full amount. We'll see.

find another job that does not force you to perpetrate evil on innocent people.
