What do you love to smell in the morning?

hahahah I know some of you want to say napalm.

But what about when you are opening up a box of Cocoa Pebbles and that wash of fake chocolate hits you in the face like a wakeup call from 2nd grade. That's still pretty enjoyable if you ask me. That first burst of cereal box-opening-fragrance should be bottled.

I love the smell of bacon, too. And coffee of any kind.

I'm not a cologne type of guy but I put in on in the morning just because I love to smell it.

Most loaded question EVER.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Dirty dronerock boy. Like, DUH!

kate (suzy), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

aka, the smell of male.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:44 (twenty-three years ago)

That which Ned doth refer is rhetorical.

It reminds me of the saying that even bad pizza is pizza. You do the math.

don weiner, Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Coffee! And the smell of the weekend paper..

Minky Starshine (Minky Starshine), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:48 (twenty-three years ago)

COFFEE that somebody else has made

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:49 (twenty-three years ago)

No, DDB's have their own distinctive smell. What did we decide it was? Slightly musky boysweat and patchouli. Sigh. I'll never smell Horton in the morning again and this makes me sad. :-(

kate (suzy), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:50 (twenty-three years ago)

A girl who smokes.

shameless in seattle, Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:52 (twenty-three years ago)

This thread is singing "Dannnnn" in dulcet tones.

Amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:53 (twenty-three years ago)

give him some time to rub his hands together for a few minutes

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 6 March 2003 23:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Bacon and coffee

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:07 (twenty-three years ago)

His hands? ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:13 (twenty-three years ago)

preferably nothing. morning is not a time for smells. maybe tea.

Maria (Maria), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:21 (twenty-three years ago)

actually I never noticed it until I spent time outside of California, but the jasmine is really nice here. now to put on my Birks, smoke a doobie and go for a hike...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:23 (twenty-three years ago)

preferably a dirty dronerock girl. Or even a clean dronerock girl.

hstencil, Friday, 7 March 2003 00:26 (twenty-three years ago)

when i walk out of my apartment door into the stairwell (5 story walkup), i usually smell faint traces of perfume from the young woman who lives below me. i once ALMOST told her that i love the smell of it, but i thought it might be inappropriate.

(fresh gardenia petals floating in a bedside bowl of water are nice to wake up to as well)

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:27 (twenty-three years ago)

when i lived on the beach for a year, the ocean air was really nice to wake up to. (added bonus: falling asleep to the sound of the surf).

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 7 March 2003 00:29 (twenty-three years ago)

In the absence of napalm, I would have to agree with coffee that someone else has brewed, sandalwood, girl-smell and mown grass.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 7 March 2003 01:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Let's all give a shout out to TOAST!

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know anyone who's clean in the morning! Dronerock boy/girl or otherwise!

kate, Friday, 7 March 2003 09:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't get back home until after one this morning - the 45 bus got held up for DECADES in Camberwell because "there's a man lying in the middle of the road." No change there then...had to get up again at six, and the inevitable headache this morning but I threw away all my paracetamol tablets last week GRRR! ;-) Anyway it was all worth it because I had a GREBT FANTASTIC evening :-) So I'm getting used to the scent of the world again!

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 March 2003 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay! Why'd you throw yr paracetamol out?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I decided suicide wasn't an option any more. The last two weeks have changed something in me - going out into the world again, taking my first tentative steps towards socialising again. And now I have two new friends in London who are the greatest, smartest, loveliest friends anyone could have. I don't want pain any more - I want to learn to be happy and enjoy life again.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 March 2003 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck, that was sensitive of me. I did the same sort of thing once, too.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay for Marcello!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm liking the smell of Marcello's new attitude this morning!

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 7 March 2003 09:59 (twenty-three years ago)

When I was living in Georgia, I had an amazing porch which led out to a heavily treed area. Every morning, my girl and I had coffee out there. Nothing beats the smell of summer fresh air, leaves, fresh cut grass and coffee in the morning!

S Samson, Friday, 7 March 2003 10:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Smell of new attitude = CLASSIC!!! Yay, Marcello! Work crazy busy today but will send you email at lunch...

kate, Friday, 7 March 2003 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the smell of pillows - mine always smell sweetly of my shampoo. I also love it when my boyfriend has to get up before me and I can wriggle across onto his pillow. This hasn't happened for a while though.

Lara (Lara), Friday, 7 March 2003 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I love the smell of autumn leaves in the morning.

S Samson, Friday, 7 March 2003 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

So it's just me that perpetually goes to bed so fucked that I can't smell *anything* until about 3pm, then.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Friday, 7 March 2003 11:08 (twenty-three years ago)

It cheers me up to see Marcello so positive, but I feel I need to point out that paracetamol, as well as the obvious suicidal use, can also act as painkillers.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Tea and toast!!!!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Female.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate - "smell clean" is a relative term when discussing the differences between men and women.

hstencil, Friday, 7 March 2003 18:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Morning: Coffee, Fresh Air, Breakfast

Afternoon after a nice summer nap: Fresh cut grass, Fresh Air

Feeling Fresh today FRESSH SHSSHSH SHS HshshshshshFRESSHshshsh

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes! And my bf's aftershave. mmm...

Sarah MCLUsky (coco), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

But not your boyfriend? You're mean.

And of course, hurrah for Marcello! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes. Hurrah for Marcello!

But not your boyfriend? You're mean.
YES, My bf smells good on his own, but I also particularly like to smell after shave on his cheeks. He has to get up much earlier than I do for work and I like the smell as he leans over to kiss me goodbye.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

my dog....although he has started to smell of corn chips lately. He needs a bath. and im not going to say my wife, her breath is like death in the morning. Plus I get up three hours before she does.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Not that i smell great in the morning either. I tend to have terrible night sweats, resulting in me smelling of onions.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 7 March 2003 18:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Freshly grinded coffee.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 7 March 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

For some bizarre unknown reason, I love to smell the backs of my hands.

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 7 March 2003 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Do they smell like smoke?

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:28 (twenty-three years ago)

No, they just have a fresh, slightly salty human-being smell. I'm not sure why I love it.

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I, too, like the smell of the backs and hands, and forearms. Especially if they've been in the sun. They smell nice, it's just one of those baking bread style comfort smells. Not that they smell like baking bread, they just make you feel happy and comforted the same way that baking bread smells do.

Baking bread is a good morning smell, possibly even better than percolating coffee. Just maybe.

kate (suzy), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:34 (twenty-three years ago)

a dutch oven

Randy Farang (TOOTHFANGCLAW), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

the smell of shampoo and soap.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 8 March 2003 01:02 (twenty-three years ago)
