Destroy: English Patient because 1. it kills off Patrick Lewis; 2. it removes Carravaggio's thumbs; 3. Ondaatje who seems to excel at the small intimate moments and rendering them with fantastic prose falls into cliche re: WW2 and The Bomb.

Search: In the Skin of A Lion -- lovely.

Anil's Ghost is ok.

I would like to do dirty, filthy things to Ralph Fiennes. I'm having one of those mornings.

His poetry is fantastic. Dunno his prose. My Creative Writing teacher ranks his poesy far above his prose. Ralph Fiennes is in the newest David Cronenberg movie. I need to sleep.

I read In the Skin of A Lion a long time ago. I remember nothing about it except it was good. Thank you. Good night.

Doesn't In the Skin of a Lion have a fabulous sex-in-the-kitchen scene? Sadly, that is all I remember of the book, which I read quickly, but liked a lot.

I liked what little poetry I've read, and I quite liked Anil's Ghost, but I've not sought him out otherwise.

twenty years pass...

Coming Through Slaughter is really good, cleverly put together and deeply felt - it does so much in a short space
