Destroy: English Patient because 1. it kills off Patrick Lewis; 2. it removes Carravaggio's thumbs; 3. Ondaatje who seems to excel at the small intimate moments and rendering them with fantastic prose falls into cliche re: WW2 and The Bomb.

Doesn't In the Skin of a Lion have a fabulous sex-in-the-kitchen scene? Sadly, that is all I remember of the book, which I read quickly, but liked a lot.
