Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:18 (twenty-three years ago)

This is such a clichéd thing to say, but: the i-pod.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

When we bought our own washer/dryer. Rather than spending a boatload of money at the Laundry and countless hours at the laundry this was the greatest thing of all time.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

(yeah oh no!! excuse time is ovah!! oh no!!)

(well it will be when all the books and stuff are filed in the korrekt places)

(heh!)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm with you on the washer/dryer thing, Chris! Alas I had to give them up when I moved, but such are the ways. :-(

In my case, it would always be getting either new CD racks or new DVD racks. The bookshelf problem was alleviated by me donating and/or selling a bunch of books on.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Bookshelves, definitely.

Graham (graham), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

GHD hair-straighteners.

Lara (Lara), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Ed (dali), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I bought some shelves about three months ago, but I need to find some with a drill and a stud finder (shut up!) so I can put them up.

I love my microwave, now I can easily reheat leftovers! I love my blender, even though I have used the blender only twice. It's frozen daquiri time this summer.

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I never got it. I find my keys much better with all the crap on shelves though.

Graham (graham), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

The humble coin sorter. Food tastes better, the air smells fresher, the sun shines brighter etc.

No more impossible to lift buckets of coin bashing unwary toes. It's all wrapped up nice and neat waiting for a trip to the bank.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

When we got married we got eveything imaginable. Its great.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

ha! I knew this was a Mark S thread!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 7 March 2003 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

If you've not finished at least two books by Monday there's going to be trouble. I'm expecting at least one to be published by the FAP/FAK next Thursday.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 March 2003 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Summertime New Jersey Frozen Daquiri FAP!

hstencil, Friday, 7 March 2003 19:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Our bookshelves are great. We got them when we first moved in to this apartment. THey were fairly cheap (we got them at a place called THE DUMP), but they really make it look more like a home. We've already filled it all up, so there are some books laying sideways on top of others, but I think that's rather cozy looking.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 7 March 2003 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

"cosy-looking" is the start of doom

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:01 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm really psyched! dr vick said she'd help me organise it ("actually i want to look at the books you don't let ppl see normally") but really i feel like starting today!!

it's like you touch stuff and it comes back alive

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I felt the same way when I got my new book and CD shelves. But really it just encouraged me to buy more books and CDs. And now I have a 30 CD high pile of CDs in front of my already full CD case, though it's damn nice CD case! Sorry, this isn't very helpful.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:06 (twenty-three years ago)

ha! my written English is terrible.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:07 (twenty-three years ago)

it's damn nice bookshelves, also, jel: that's what i thought when i woke up and there they were looking at me

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Haven't you finished any of those books yet?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:33 (twenty-three years ago)

congrats, mark s!

(all the twiny milky way - 'cept finland, possibly, wink!wink! - 's holding their cosmic breath now)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 8 March 2003 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, I need bookshelves SO BADLY!!! My life will change inexorably if I ever obtain any. The Vox Boxes are simply gathering dust and making the place look untidy. Oh, and a CD rack would change my life. How I miss the Swish Cottage with the built-in CD-racks around the fireplace... though my collection would no doubt no longer fit in them.

Thing which will change the nature of life in this flat forever... CLOTHESHORSE!!! I am washing dirty dronerock boy out of my sheets as we speak but I've got nowhere to dry them!

kate (suzy), Saturday, 8 March 2003 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Ed it totally OTM. Global Chef stuff rules.

I'm all for more bookshelves but there's this small matter of not enough apartment walls

Chris Barrus (xibalba), Saturday, 8 March 2003 23:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris OTM with that last sentence.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 9 March 2003 00:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Hooray for shelves! I finally fixed the shelf that had fallen down in my closet at Christmastime. It inspired me to clean my closet, room, apartment, and clear out unneeded emails and voice messages from 2 relationships ago.

felicity (felicity), Sunday, 9 March 2003 02:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Did you finish any books immediately afterwards?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 9 March 2003 10:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish! I haven't even finished reading my overdue library book.

felicity (felicity), Sunday, 9 March 2003 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

the cd player i got for my birthday three years ago. (wow, only 3 years?)

if someone got me a car it might change my life....
