Which of these labels will prove to be more significant?

Don't know which is more significant or even what is 'more significant' but they're BOTH great.

I think Dischord has the best single band but KRS probably has a larger number of very nearly great bands. Maybe.

I'd like to see a series of split singles where a band from each label gets a side each. Suggestions?

I vote for Dischord (when ethical quandaries come up, I'll admit I sometimes play What Would Ian MacKaye do?), but both are indeed great.

I agree that on the whole, KRS has more bands worth listening to though Dischord "owns" two of the most "important" bands of the DIY (not indie) scene.

Dischord has the Nation of Ulysses, Slant 6 and Lungfish. Let's not forget about this really good bands that are overlooked. KRS having tons of girl oriented bands = a little bit of a dud....

I like the term "girl oriented bands," which I assume doesn't necessarily mean bands with girls in them. There should be radio stations that focus solely on the gender whom the songs are directed towards, rather than any musical criteria. Girl Oriented Radio and Boy Oriented Radio would be LOTS of fun.

I knew that would come of as sexist but I feel like KRS focuses too much on that aspect of artists. I like KRS and their bands!

Tracer...ha ha... I like KRS comps a lot. I like the Dischord comp benefiting the anti-apartheid thingamagig but to tell you the truth, the rest of them are pretty lame, including the 20 year 3 cd comp.

From my limited experience KRS seem like dillettantes to Dischord's specialists? Anyway their comps have cool little drawings inside and the one I have comes with an extra 7" with "Eskinaut" on it, which is great, and a song that goes "ooooOOOO-OOOooooo!" and it sounds like it's sung by ghosts.
