This is the thread where up-to-date S7 "Buffy" viewers assure me that Willow is alive and doing well [WARNING SPOILERS GRR ARG!]

I had a dream last night that Xander got some evil spell cast on him and killed her, and (less importantly) some real life acquaintances of me, too.

My dreams have been known to come true (like the one where I missed the news- I woke up that day and *didn't* miss the news, filling me with a sense of triumph, but then I missed 'em the next day. I'm kinda looking forward to that one where Richard Thompson joined Limp Bizkit coming true tho), so I need some validation here that Willow is alive & rockin' (for the record, they've just started showing S4 around here, but I know about all the nasty stuff that happens to her during S6)

Willow is alive and doing well. And with better hair these days.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I swore that I wouldn't spoil myself for the last season of Buffy but I am weak and with ample amounts of computer time, so I am unfortunately spoiled for most of the rest of the series. Don't make the same mistake I have made.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Eye am sorry eye read the spoilers too.

Xander's eye (Nicole), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 01:47 (twenty-three years ago)

What exactly are the spoilers, anyway? I tried to keep my post as vague as possible...

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 01:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Eye did not read the spoilers. So, um, ewww.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 17 April 2003 03:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Am I the only one traumatized for-evah by last night's Buffy?

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 17 April 2003 07:28 (twenty-three years ago)

No, you are not alone.

And am I alone in thinking a goofy Riley-looking guy with a Beatles haircut should not be that evil?

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 17 April 2003 11:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Have any of the usual suspects read Mark Edmundson's 'Nightmare on Main Street: Angels, Sadomasochism and the Culture of the Gothic'? I just came across a reference to it (in Rorty's 'Achieving our Country') where Edmundson is characterising Foucauldian 'Power' in these terms: one cannot "confront power; one can only encounter its temporary and generally unwitting agents...[it] has capacities of motion and transformation that make it a preternatural force". Rorty continues "the ubiquity of Foucauldian power is reminiscent of the ubiquity of Satan, and thus of ubiquity of original sin - that diabolical stain on every human soul".

And, being who I am, this naturally made me think: "Aha! THE FIRST!"

Anyway, if anyone can tell me whether this Edmundson guy is as interesting as he looks, I would be very grateful.

And I can well believe someone who looked like Riley could be that evil.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 17 April 2003 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe Riley is the most evil character to ever grace the show, but this guy from Firefly is like a super-goofy version of Riley, with comedy hair.

What really bothered me about this ep is that the whole gang just stood around and allowed him to deliver this long Dr. Evil stylee speech when they should have been trying to take him out! It was just silly. And Spike could not be more of wuss.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I would be more into the Caleb character if not for the fact that that Firefly actor also was the love interest in that show "2 Guys and A Girl" which now reruns daily on the Oxygen channel to the pleasure of no one.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:19 (twenty-three years ago)

And Gina Torres from Firefly is the villain on Angel right now, wtf? Though I like her a lot better, she's very effective as a quasi-Oprah demon.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

And if Xander starts wearing an eyepatch and dating one of the Asian potential slayers, I will take back every bad thing I have said about this season.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

AAAARRRRRRGGGHHH. The local UPN affiliate has replaced Buffy with BASEBALL for the rest of the season!! AAAAAARRRRRGGGHH.

chester (synkro), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Nicole, it's a lot more fun if you just pretend he's really pissed that Fox dropped Firefly. He's like Glory, he escaped from one crumbling dimension of the Whedon universe and is now wreaking havoc in another.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

He wuz gonna crush Xander's head like a grape.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

(Nabs - do you know anything about that book/guy I mentioned upthread?)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, I read that book! It was okay.

Ha ha ha, Nicole.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 17 April 2003 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

(No, sorry, Nipper.)

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 17 April 2003 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh! Eye get the spoilers now!
