well? this is a SERIOUS question -- don't ask why i need to get a FEZ, i just do. i've worked and/or lived near to Manhattan more than 5 years now, and i don't have a fucking clue where to find one!

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 14 March 2003 07:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally? Felicity? hstencil? Tracer? MOMUS, even?

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 14 March 2003 07:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Under Time Cafe?

(Sorry, someone had to make the joke)

kate (suzy), Friday, 14 March 2003 07:59 (twenty-three years ago)

have you tried asking a damn real masonic organisziston??

past that I'd turn to the nearest hipster casauluty retilaer, perhaps love whatever in st. marks. you know, the one featured in Despareatly Seeking Susan. Fuck, if that place doesn't have fezes then your best bet can only be Urban Outfitters, god rest your sout./

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:02 (twenty-three years ago)

damn, i'm drunk. all i know is in fucking dallas, fezes are hipster causalty number one along with Rat Fink and Margaret Keene painitings. Get yrself a fucking life babydoll!

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:12 (twenty-three years ago)

love whatever in st. marks

Love Will Save the Day. And it's not on St. Marks. :-)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I said *in* StMarks's JBR. I know it's not on St.Mark's Place but on the fucking way from the train stop. I'm drunk. It's a goddamn tourist trap anwyway. I am understood I'm sure. . .

btw, that place has the best fucking crinolines in NYC but is still way too fucking hipster to really be cool so you know. .. )

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Now I want a fez.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:18 (twenty-three years ago)

No, you don't. They are as lame now as bobble-head monkeys and cheapo tiki mugs. Let's move on.

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:20 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not Freemasons wot wear fezzes, it's Shriners. The Freemason world headquarters is on 23rd Street, though...

Look in the yellow pages for costumes and party supplies, that's the best I can think of. I mean, if you wanted Indian or Chinese tat, I could tell you exactly where to go (Jackson Heights or Canal St respectively) but a fez? Clueless.

And then they all FEZZED UP!!! ha ha ha ha ha. I kill me.

kate (suzy), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahaha, touche.

still, thought, fezes are hipster casualty number one. Get yourself a Shag tee and be done with it. . . .

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I wouodn't have actually WORN it - partly due to the fact that I suffer from looks-like-Debbie-Gibson-in-a-hat - I would've... well... okay, I guess I don't want a fez.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:24 (twenty-three years ago)

*would

luna (luna.c), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:24 (twenty-three years ago)

go drink some gatorade or something to dry out, TG. i don't want to get a fez to be a "hipster casualty," and i don't give a rat's ass about the habits of "hipster casualties" in Dallas (aren't "hipster casualty" and "Dallas" mutually exclusive concepts, BTW?)

back to subject -- maybe you know, Jody?

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Fez = hipster casualty.

If it is so in TX Tad, then it was eons ago in Manhatten, tis fact. Check fuckin' Shag. He's east coast and west coast babee. . .

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:26 (twenty-three years ago)

back to subject -- maybe you know, Jody?

Dunno, but you could probably make one out of cardboard and felt.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Tad, are you living Eyes Wide Shut right now?

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Two Heavy Drinkers. Classic.

JBR'r right on. It's rather simple. Otherwise go to LWSTD or Urban Outfitters, be done with it and stop whining to us. . .

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 14 March 2003 08:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Tad in Tommy Cooper impersonation Shock.

Ed (dali), Friday, 14 March 2003 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Shriners' organisations good, or ask a nearby Moroccan/phone a Moroccan restaurant.

I'd give you my old one that I used to have in high school/college (mini-crini, fez, '40s New Look bodice jacket, hoop tights and big big boots = brunette Sarah Stockbridge look worked 87-89) but it's in an attic box in Minnesota. Stopped wearing it when Tim Burton-style art direction went all Weetzie Bat and twee.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 14 March 2003 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I want to see you in a fez.

Ed (dali), Friday, 14 March 2003 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a really silly picture somewhere of me in fez, or me in weird Turkish squashed-fez thing with multi-tassles given to me as going away to college present by vintage clothes store pal.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 14 March 2003 12:12 (twenty-three years ago)

there's a massive costume shop between 10th and 20th street, off of 6th avenue, but that seems to be all i can remember. you can get fake moustaches there made of real human hair!

dave k, Friday, 14 March 2003 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)
