Comic Relief, perhaps?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

No that's just a fairly extreme version of sport unlimited's style of cricket commentry.

Ed (dali), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, he might actually have cracked.

Ed (dali), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Mr Guardian sports writer, you are Dave Q and I claim my free felching from an ex-member of Poison.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh. There was I thinking I'd stumbled on something mildly outrageous.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

what an ingenious way to increase your website's traffic

j0e (j0e), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Brilliant.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Are all the updates like this? I think I like cricket now.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck that, I think I like Coronation Street. Is it on the telly regularly?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

And Amber Jones emails in to say: "Come watch my video, it's very stimulati..." Eh, actually, that's a bit of junk mail. Still, beggars can't be choosers.

Very high quality.

Alfie (Alfie), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Brilliant stuff. Top drawer. More of this please.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I love when shit like this actually happens and it's not just passive-aggressive wishful thinking a la Falling Down/American Beauty.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 14 March 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Gary Hills writes in to say that he "also knows" how I feel and asks, rather worryingly, if I ever feel sympathy with Coronation Street's Richard Hillman. I'm really not sure what to say about that, Gary, other than to ask you if you would like to invest some money in a block of flats I'm thinking of building. Or else.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

someone give this man a pay rise!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

The follow-up of India's innings is even better where they're getting loads of emails about it. Comic Relief or not, I'd like to see all cricket reports done like this.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, its better than writing about fucking cricket, that's for sure.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

As Ed said, it's a joke (probably). And not for Comic Relief - it's like this every day.
They have been running funny commentaries on football and cricket for a while with one their finest moment being the coverage of the USA v Mexico world cup clash. Apologies in advance if I've buggered the link up aha

superrobot, Friday, 14 March 2003 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

This is the web at its finest!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

The influence of CoM becomes ever more subtly apparent in mainstream writing.

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 14 March 2003 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

cricket=fun *faints from shock*

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:30 (twenty-three years ago)

''The influence of CoM becomes ever more subtly apparent in mainstream writing.''

the opening reminds me of yr review of the whitehouse rec

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:35 (twenty-three years ago)

they've been doing it for ages, me and Jonnie have been e-mailing each other (and the people doing it) all the way through the world cup. It was especially good when the excellent Lawrence announced he was leaving due to EU work legislation and the regular readers got together a petition signed by around 500 people to keep him.

It's all funny.

chris (chris), Friday, 14 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

brilliant!

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 14 March 2003 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

"Styris isn't messing about. I like Styris"

Is my fave bit, it's the kind of comment I would make on ILE.
