hstencil, Thursday, 20 March 2003 23:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I must not be hip...is that when you have sex w/members of the proletariat?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 20 March 2003 23:20 (twenty-three years ago)

The most: conversations about rock-crits, and rock-crit in general. And list threads.

Cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 20 March 2003 23:28 (twenty-three years ago)

shit i really meant ile

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 21 March 2003 00:44 (twenty-three years ago)

ILE? Threads started by regulars on sensitive RL topics which end up turning everybody but Ally and Ned into trolls despite their best efforts.

Millar (Millar), Friday, 21 March 2003 00:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel like I'm some sort of guardian of the temple spirit now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 March 2003 00:59 (twenty-three years ago)

you didn't before?

Millar (Millar), Friday, 21 March 2003 01:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Anything with the potential for absurdism, because that has the power to bring all of us together.

Al Ewing (Al Ewing), Friday, 21 March 2003 01:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I changed it to ILE, I hope you don't mind!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 March 2003 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

The answer is:

What do you look like, what are you listening to, and what are you reading?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 March 2003 09:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't mind at all Jel, thank you.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Friday, 21 March 2003 09:50 (twenty-three years ago)

evidently, talkin' 'bout Xgau or dicks or bras 'll bring on the fastest avalanche o'posts

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 21 March 2003 13:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Anything that brings in offence - racism, sexism, shouting out of car windows - seems to be pretty productive.

I've not found very esoteric arty ones very successful, and I know Anthony has said the same.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 21 March 2003 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Directly confronting a personal pet peeve that translates to a universal concept works, too ("Can we stone the next person who accuses a band of selling out?"). Also, threads where people can show off ("MUSIC LYRICS ONLY PLEASE").

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 21 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Anything about the NYC ILx crew seems to get a disproportionate amount of posts from people who never have even met us.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 22 March 2003 00:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd say relationships (whether intimate or friendships).

as for current events: well you can get multiple threads with 200+ posts (see war on iraq and so on).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 22 March 2003 21:35 (twenty-three years ago)

fooooooooooooooooood gets loads of answers, ally that's cos outside of NYC we simply wait for stuff to happen in NYC.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 22 March 2003 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

You should come here Ronan, then we will show you how boring it really is.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 23 March 2003 02:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't mind the 'the NYC ILx crew'.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 23 March 2003 02:17 (twenty-three years ago)

oi! o'course -- the pissing-in-the-head theme and its numerous alcoholi-variations are awesomely popular round here too, i've noticed

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 23 March 2003 13:47 (twenty-three years ago)

you didn't before?

But now I know!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 23 March 2003 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

you never know, someday maybe I can experience that boredom.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 23 March 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

three years pass...
There should be, like, you know, a scientific answer to this question.

Aimless, Saturday, 17 March 2007 16:11 (nineteen years ago)

It's probably something utterly banal and everyday that everyone nevertheless has a strong opinion on, like that 'correct way to do the washing up' thread, or 'Another Thing Coming vs Another Think Coming'.

Matt DC, Sunday, 18 March 2007 12:36 (nineteen years ago)

Some seemingly ridiculous non-starters like Numlock! (started as a joke, not expected to get any responses) get lots of silly responses at first and then die out, while other threads keep going slow and steady and never die altogether (siblings).

Maria :D, Sunday, 18 March 2007 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, banality coz like everyone has an opinion on banality.

jel --, Sunday, 18 March 2007 13:21 (nineteen years ago)

Racism
Sexism
Religion
Grammar
Bicycle Riders in Cities
Louis Jagger

jessie monster, Sunday, 18 March 2007 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

I would only just about contribute to grammar threads to be honest.
