while shaking pan, lid pops off and lands upside down right next to RED HOT BURNER, rendering it UNRECOVERABLE for hotpadless bachelors with slow wits, popcorn is flying all over and it takes just a moment for me to stop being concerned and just GO ALONG FOR THE RIDE and i start laughing like i haven't laughed in quite a while and i'm really impressed with the wide pattern of dispersion!

look closely for evidence of FLAMES as kernels hit the burner :-) hehe.

it's fry-day here and i just ate a great meal - but it wasn't popcorn. we use gas here - can't imagine elecric hobs. i'm off to the chills - not the real chills though. - dianne says they're NO GOOD.

I am impressed by your kettle, too. See the cleverly-designed spout cover, which prevents popcorn from flying into it? They think of everything. Marvellous.

tis a cool cooker, to be sure.

This is not the only popcorn mishap. My gf and her housemates decided to make some & take it to the cinema with them (cue dilemma abt whether you should eat yr own food in cinema) but every single one of them went past thinking "we need some salt in that", not knowing that the others had done the same, with the result that they had popcorn which was far too salty and therefore inedible.

When I was at Uni, my friends and I would often return home late from t'pub and decide in our drunken stupor to make popcorn. We would deliberately leave the saucepan lid off, and make a game out of running around the kitchen trying to catch the popped corn. We were hooligans in those days.
