Alan (Alan), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Can I just get my coat, sir? It's new and very expensive, and its cold outside.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:10 (twenty-three years ago)

no, don't go back for your bags, and yes it IS cold outside. Look, do I have to explain all this every time. OUT. NOW.

Alan (Alan), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

last one in the lift is a cissy

james (james), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

God we never have real fires in this place. It's so boring.

j0e (j0e), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

That's my 11:30 meeting taken care of. Who's for the pub?

robster (robster), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

This is a fire drill! You're not allowed to use the lift. Go down those stairs.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

cissy Tim cissy Tim - oh the lifts stuck!

james (james), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I never understand our weekly fire alarm test. A bloke comes on over the intercom saying something like, 'this is a fire alarm test. If you have difficulties hearing this test then contact....' Duh?!

They always manage to not activate the fire alarm in our part of the building when they evacuate. The last time they found grenades in the post the whole mount got evacuated, but not us, oh no. (our office is part of a big sorting office)

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Sir... j0e keeps HITTING me!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:27 (twenty-three years ago)

"AhAH!" go the smokers, "Extra fag break!"

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, well Sir, Matt was asking for it by RUNNING instead of WALKING

j0e (j0e), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

umm i'm stuck, if only i had paid attention in my initial few days at the start of the job then i wouldn't be in this mess, and i wouldn't have hurt my back through using an improper lifting proceedure

james (james), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Sir it's freezing out here! Please sir, can we practise rescuing the teacher like wot we were taught at the Springfield Hospital fire training day, sir, please sir?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 21 March 2003 11:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, everyone's got back inside, sorry sir, I went to the shops coz I was bored.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Harrison I'm going to batter you later.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 21 March 2003 11:52 (twenty-three years ago)

only if i get out of this box on a string that is the lift (and im a real fast runner)

james (james), Friday, 21 March 2003 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

"Ladies and gennlemen. We are conducting our weekly fire alarm test. Please ignore the sirens and flashing strobes and proceed with your work as if nothing is happening. This is not a rave. We are conditioning you to respond to fire alarms with indifference and irritation. Thank y---BZZZRK"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the alarm went off Wednesday - it wasn't a drill, but not an emergency either. Nobody knew what to do. I walked down 23 flights of stairs, then went outside and read the Voice (cursing myself for leaving my sushi lunch at my desk). My leg still hurts. I work in a death trap.

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

ten years pass...

Holy shit, the alarm just went off, and the guy on the loudspeaker said "PLEASE DISREGARD ANYTHING YOU SEE OR HEAR"

am I in the Matrix?

Ours is very complicated and is tested every Friday every morning. Those of us who aren't suffering from hangovers have started dancing to it when it comes on.
