I just wanted to start one of those threads with the long dumb title that pisses me off. And give myself a reason to go on a quest for the ultimate DeLorean jpeg.

Yes, it was a damn shame when they banned plastic buckets and shovels from the earth. Where did you find that picture?

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 23 March 2003 01:53 (twenty-three years ago)

A Google image search for buckets. I like buckets.

so can you open those doors if yr in a tight parking lot?

ron (ron), Sunday, 23 March 2003 02:57 (twenty-three years ago)

duh i guess not any worse than a reg car

ron (ron), Sunday, 23 March 2003 02:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually the nice thing abt 'em is that you can open them all the way even when you've only got little space. I think they only swing out about a foot from the car, and then up.

I like how that guy looks kinda like he could be from space

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 23 March 2003 03:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll bet he's one odd chap. Something about the jeans, the pinky ring, the DeLorean...

Hey,Shaun!I have one of those record players in my loft! The AudioTechnica 'Sound Burger'!What a great idea,a portable record player!Having lugged records about for over 12 years now,I can tell you that there is nothing portable about vinyl. That's why DJs have people to carry their record boxes.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me that I have one of these!I looked it up on eBay and there is one going for £205!!!!RESULT!!!

Eugene Speed (Eugene Speed), Sunday, 23 March 2003 13:17 (twenty-three years ago)

DG (D_To_The_G), Sunday, 23 March 2003 16:53 (twenty-three years ago)

A friend of mine has one of those Technics portable record players; it is indeed fab. Re the Avanti, I read an artcle a couple years ago that said an American couple had purchased all the rights and design specs from Studebaker, and were hand-building them in limited runs. I don't know if this is still the case, but they're out there, they just don't say Studebaker on them.

I will see you yr fairlight & roland sys 100, and raise you one Buchla 200 series modular synth:

http://www.code404.com/synths/images/buchla_200.jpg

The system in the pic includes the model 248 "multiple arbitrary function generator", of which they made something like seven examples, of which something like 2 or 3 still work! House price stuff!!

http://www.amx-perience.com/AMX111.jpg

American Motors' AMX/3, meant to be a mid-engined exotic Corvette-killer but shelved when production costs and the news of a much less expensive competitor in the De Tomaso Pantera arose. Only about three working examples still exist today. Apparently one of them is stashed in somebody's barn, decrepit and covered in chicken shit.
