So, today's Canadian papers are all abuzz with how disappointed the USA is with Canada for not going along to war with them.
"We would be there for you," is the basic line.
I'm curious as to what American ILXers think of Canada with regards to our unwillingness to go to war without UN backing.

One irritating thing that's been going on here especially in the media is this crap about Canadians wavering on support for the war, when the evidence for that is pretty flimsy. The vast majority of Canadians do not support it, and we're smart enough to know that a large percentage of the American population doesn't either. And wtf was going on with Don Cherry the other night? What a bastard! As far as classic or dud goes, speaking for myself - dud. Most other Canadians are classic, though.

i'm have an american dad and a canadian mom and i've spent about half my life on each side of the border. I was Born In The USA, but I pay my taxes and reside in the True North Strong and Free.

I get frustrated with both for different reasons. Right now, Canada seems like a nicer place to live. But whenever I'm in NYC or SF I think I'm a sucker for living up here.

I think Bryan is right, Canadians are mostly against the war.

Well I've never been to Canada and I don't think I've ever been friends with any real-life Canadians but there is a whole weird mystique to Canada, for me, which those of you who read the Canadian Prairies thread will be all too familiar with. Also my band spent the weekend recording an upcoming EP called "Saskatchewan" so clearly I'm a little interested in the concept of Canada.

But so probably that article means that "the Bush administration" is upset with Canada, not the USA. The USA doesn't really think with one mind, believe it or not.

I just traversed the Canadian prairies from Winnipeg to Swift Current and back this past weekend. I feel so deeply sad that I can't describe it. It made sense that I got a call saying my grandpa had passed away during the drive. There's nothing like that trip.

I have heard of cars with American license plates getting vandalized in Vancouver the past two weeks, because of anti-war sentiment. I normally hate putting political slogans on my car, but I might have to affix my "No War In Iraq" poster to my back car window my next trip to Vancouver or Victoria just to prevent damage from stupidity like this.

Chris, you should talk to the folks at Scratch Records and Zulu records in Vancouver. They are record stores.. not venues. But they point you in the right direction.

Actually, you should really talk to Andrew at Blackball Records in Nanaimo... I think he stocks Tape Mountain stuff, even.
Nanaimo is on Vancouver Island, so you'd have to arrange to pay to ferry over from Vancouver or elsewhere, but you should really contact him anyway. I met him once, and he's soooper nice. Google for "Blackball records" of course.
