But, more on topic - sorry, can't think of any.

What a crappy job I've done staying on topic. My apologies.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I like bogue. I use it a lot. Sometimes I add syllables by saying something has bogusity.

My favorite is 'flip the script'.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

my friend (whom mr. s1utsky knows) named jon decided in grade 8 that he'd start using random words as slang...the only one that stuck--and it stuck for about 5 years, was "that's totally hypocritical, man" to mean good. why? i have no idea why we let this fellow direct our young minds.

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Doesn't everybody do this in the early teen years? Not to devalue your story, of course, but it's one of those shared experiences that everyone seems to think is unique. That sounds bitchy. It's not supposed to be, it's a genuine question. My circle of friends certainly did the same thing.

NA. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

They make up slang like in the movies all the time, and it always seems so desperate and pathetic. Like the cool kids saying "Razor."

Borf (vb) - to fail in a spectacularly physical way, eg, to back your car into a wall is a borf.

Variations:

Borf-fest: a whole series of people borfing in various ways in the same location, eg a very badly organised event.

Borfmaster/borfmistress: One who borfs a lot.

This term has only ever been used by people I know from the suburbs of Canberra, in New South Wales, Australia, but they use it all the time.

pronouncing "banal" to rhyme with "anal" as in "Oh man, this food is fucking banal!"

"grimace" as a noun version of "grim" - "You're a grimace this morning"

i can't remember any more right now but i'll post em when they come back to me.
