A shame but indeed quite a legacy left. One of my earliest childhood memories is reading a serialized story in a US kid's mag written by Aiken and illustrated by Quentin Blake.

Jesus, why has this not had more attention here? I almost cried when I opened the Observer to find out that she'd popped off. *sigh*

Must find 'Lady Catherine's Necklace' - it's the story of how Lady Catherine de Burgh (the evil cow out of 'Pride & Prej') gets KIDNAPPED BY PIRATES. How could that not be good, even if it were written by a JK R0wl1ng-style literary moron? Which it isn't, it's by a genius.
