There's NOTHING WRONG with feeling Hatred for Bush!

I'm invariably going to regret starting this thread, but based on this cartoon lifted from this thread post your favorite anti-liberal cartoons ,....

There seems to be a movement afoot in the community of the Right to demonize the Democrats/the Liberals/the Left for being "angry" and feeling "hatred" for the Bush Administration. Well, to that I say: WHY THE FUCK NOT? "Hatred" is the perfect word to decribe how I feel. DON'T BE ASHAMED TO SHOW YOUR HATRED!

The Bush administration makes me feel more like this:

Hahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe it's not an anti-liberal cartoon at all though, maybe it's a warning to liberals not to let themselves reduced to Gollum-like singlemindedness. Because the best way to beat Bush is to live nobly or some such bullshit.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

This is funny because seeing as I do actually *live* here now, I feel quite justified in actually Hating Bush and being totally distrustful of any or all of his motives AND giving a shit in general, though I still can't vote. That said, I tend to keep my mouth shut about it because people will often tell me that I "don't understand" and feel put out that a "foreigner" has the right to say these things/have an informed opinion on the subject.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The best way to beat Bush is to not let your hatred of him turn you into a raving looney that no one wants to be associated with. I agree with Huck that the message of the cartoon seemed more geared towards that.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think the ACTUAL intent of that cartoon is that considered, having seen other works by the artists on the other thread.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Bruce Sterling: "Once you believe that legitimated government is mere empty posturing, you will end up in living in a Russian-style mafia kakistocracy. And you will deserve that."

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Fair point, Dan & Huck. But, it's just such a double-standard, being that the Republicans spent eight years frothing at the mouth in incensed apoplexy during the (comparitively peaceful and prosperous) Clinton Administration.

There's nothing wrong in feeling hatred for the Bush Administration. Like Dan says, just don't let it undermine your argument by turning you into red-faced, fist-shaker that is raging inside you.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 12 January 2004 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

being that the Republicans spent eight years frothing at the mouth in incensed apoplexy during the (comparitively peaceful and prosperous) Clinton Administration.

The Democrats spent 8 years frothing at the mouth incensed apoplexy during the (comparitively peaceful and prosperous) Reagan Administration. And their hatred of Nixon was no secret either. This is the kind of logic used in a schoolyard.

That aside, I'm not really sure it's healthy to be full of hatred towards anyone. But if you just can't help yourself Alex, then make sure find an outlet.

don weiner, Monday, 12 January 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

like basket weaving.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

or arson!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Weave baskets, then burn them.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

better not do underwater basket weaving then

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

better yet, throw the basket down after weaving it, and say "FUCK YOU BASKET. FUCK YOU!"

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Or find an omelet.

Leee Majors (Leee), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Like Dan says, just don't let it undermine your argument by turning you into red-faced, fist-shaker that is raging inside you.

Unless there is a way to actually trot up to Bush and slap him for being such a moron (huge waste of manpower that was most of the latest Iraq war, for instance), better direct your energies trying to live life.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

and then leak to the press that the basket is under investigation for welfare fraud.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

x-x-post

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Don, you're a weiner!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 12 January 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Bush is another word for CUNT.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Monday, 12 January 2004 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, no it isn't.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 January 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

(Having a joke come across way harsher than you intended: C/D?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 January 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish cunt were more socially acceptable. Even though it would instantly lose its stopping power.

don weiner, Monday, 12 January 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i do not feel the least bit bad or ashamed about hating bushco. this is by far the WORST administration that i have lived through, just about everyone in this administration is some sort of slimeball or whacked-out right-wingnut ideologue, and through their acts and omissions they are doing their damndest to bring this country to its knees. AFAIC, the very idea of bushco is profoundly un-american, more worthy of romanov-era russia or mobutu-era zaire than america.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 12 January 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish cunt were more socially acceptable. Even though it would instantly lose its stopping power.

Yes, but this doesn't change the fact that pubic hair != vagina.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 January 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I really wanted to get my hands on one of those mogwai tshirts they were selling early last year.. the 'bush is a cunt' ala the 'blur is shite' tshirts they had..

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Monday, 12 January 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

eisbar, I fucking LOVE IT when you go off on a rant like that. I picture you thumbing through a book by Joe Conason with, say, Ministry blaring in the background and stoking your rage. Then I picture you throwing the book down, going to the window, throwing it open, sticking your head out the window, cocking your neck at a 45 degree angle, pinching your eyes shut, and letting out a primal "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK".

don weiner, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

A lovely image, but I'm guessing it ain't that accurate.

But then I imagine people on ILX doing all kinds of things. Best not got into that here.

Fatal Beret (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

don, no need to be smug just because the Republicans actually managed to mount a presidency-crippling inquest of Clinton's sex life and the best the Democrats can do in the face of internationally-illegitimate, pre-emptive war that evidence suggests was sold on false premises is "uh, wha"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The Clinton - Reagan analogy doesn't really work.

Reagan ran up the budget to (pre-Bush) unknown heights, probably has a half-million or more deaths on his head, helped create Saddam, helped create Osama, etc. etc. etc.

Worthless as Clinton was, he wasn't quite so... evil.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Tracer--the only smugness is your imagination here.

Look, if you wanna relieve the Clinton administration, find another thread where you can pretend that Clinton wasn't Packwooding interns and other guests of the White House, launching missles at aspirin factories under false premises, having a chance to take out Osama bin Laden and not taking it, ignoring party zones like Bosnia or Congo, holding back armaments so that US troops got killed and dragged through the streets of Mogahishu, lying under oath, getting disbarred, making off color jokes at the White House correspondents dinner, etc. Last time I checked, this thread was about hating Bush, not trying to rewrite the Clinton legacy.

And really, I think we all know that eisbar is plenty tough enough to defend himself if his feelings are hurt.

don weiner, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

hey milo, maybe the parallel isn't perfect (and I only repeated the original sentence because I knew a smarty pants like you would note it), but the level of hatred was exactly the same. (And since this is a thread about hating Bush, we might as well not draw swords over the details of your post.)

don weiner, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

don, he dismantled the welfare system and fucked up health care, too! But last time I checked this thread was about what happens when the other side really HATES. And the Republicans were just very very effective at it. But you can keep it focused on the Bush-hate if you want, if that helps you prove your point. Whatever that is.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

But, Don, I think 'hate' can be justified, depending on how you define hate. Hating someone (be it Reagan, or for many more people Hitler or Stalin) for mass murder, genocide, oppression - these things are different from hating a guy for having a feminist wife and a tendency to get blowjobs from unfairly maligned interns (the "Lewinsky is fat" stuff always annoyed me).

All hatred is not the same. Hating Jews or African-Americans is different from hating the KKK.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course hate can be justified to some degree. But it seems to me that pure, unadulterated hatred brings on inappropriate behavior that is steeped in things like vengeance. I mean, I can hate the fuckface who got wired and then ran over my aunt and gave her a slow, painful death. I can hate James Earl Carter for his dismal fucking farm policy that bankrupt my father completely and nearly ruined our family. I'm pretty sure the relatives of that Marine that got dragged through the streets of Mogadishu had reasons to hate Clinton when they saw it on TV. I could even understand the rationale for hating Disney. But I just don't find hating other people something to brag about, I guess.

Lewinsky was/is emotionally pathetic, but I don't think she's that bad looking. I find her more attractive than the former First Lady anyhow.

don weiner, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

taking the high road!
