Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had up to seven today. I will not sleep...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Already there, my man.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Bring the cigarettes

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I would, but I have coffee at my desk, so I have no excuses. :(

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I would, but I'm on a diet and already had a full-fat mocha this morning and anyway afternoon coffee gives me the shakes oh go on then.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah! I took my coffee break 5 minutes early! Damn the man!

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll have a hot chocolate, if you're getting up...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Just because I hold the lowliest position in this office (lower than the two interns even!) doesn't mean I'm just here to get your hot beverages. I have toner to order dammit!

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

YOU'LL DO AS WE SAY, VAMPA. Now git.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

b-but, I'm the king of bandits!

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't drink coffee. It hurts my tummy real bad.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

That's when I say "hey, fuck you tummy, all you ever do is growl at me, I'm putting coffee in you and there's nothing you can do to stop it MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAcoughcoughackackack(dead)".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:52 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmm hmmm, that is a tasty beverage!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm currently enjoying a giant americano. couple this with my non-drowsy cold medicine and i'll be hanging from the light fixtures shortly.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm currently drinking coffee out of a soup bowl.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

well, when I was a kid, my mom used to serve soup in mugs. So turnabout's fairplay.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

wake me when you get to chugging it from the dog dish...

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

COFFEE!!!! HULK NEED COFFEE OR ELSE SMASH!

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

One of the biggest tragedies of the modern world is that the Canadian version of Mountain Dew has no caffeine in it. This sad fact means I have to fill my belly with tasty, nutritious coffee instead of stripping my stomach lining out with pee-coloured fizziness. I weep.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

This is nothing short of blasphemy.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the Canadian version of Mountain Dew has no caffeine in it.

what's the point? don't tell me people drink it for the taste.

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

so that means that canadians actually drink mountain dew because of the flavor? madness!

(xp)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Good lord, I'm Canadian and I used to drink a lot of Mountain Dew in high school, primarily inspired by the knowledge that it had *more* caffeine in it than Coke or other pop. Sean you have truly shocked me - where did you learn this? I want facts, dammit!

PS - Yes, I really liked the taste of Mountain Dew. I am mad.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to drink Cdn M.D. all the time when I was 13, and I think it was because it had no caffeine. Cuz I wuz dumb.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm POSITIVE the Mountain Dew I used to drink had caffeine. I even recall defending it to non-MD people in the caf purely because of the caffeine level, as proved by it being ranked higher in the list of chemical ingredients on the side of the can compared with other pop, thereby proving it had more by volume. Maybe my high school stocked the vending machine with American cans or something. I wouldn't be surprised - it was a dodgy school in Scarborough, after all...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Some thoughts about Mountain Dew and caffeine-free MD in Canada (in a frilly pink journal):
http://journal.amanita.net/archives/000278.php

The Dew we had in Manitoba was always caffeine-free, which is why it surprised me a lot when someone I knew from Florida told me about hijinx he got up to at a 7-11 down there, where they hooked the Mountain Dew soft drink syrup up to the Slurpee machine to create a mix they called "Green Caffeine", which allowed them to stay up all night and think up other things to do along the same lines as hotwiring the Slurpee machine with Dew.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

What would the Philistines Jr have to about this?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm with you. I'm in love with the bean again now.

Fatal Beret (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Coffee now, please.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

argh! all my coffee is now getting in the way of my brainial functions, which are trying desperately to process the most emotional story I've ever done (obit for my favourite record store).

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I SAID COFFEE NOW, DAMMIT.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Stand down, woman

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Mountain Dew really have that much caffeine in it though? Like stay-up-all-night levels? Mind you I haven't had any in probably a decade, so I can't even recall it's effects. Is it on the level of a cup of black tea or something?

Broheems (diamond), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What record store, um, Vampa? I used to run the Music Baron in Regina (zzzzzzzzzz) but used to go to all the stores in Regina.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

X-Ray (formerly Records on Wheels) on Sc@rth

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah. I sold a crapload of CDs there once if I remember correctly. That's too bad. You should drink a whole bunch of coffee now.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Can do, captain. Oh you weren't talking to me huh?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a directive to the collective.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just going to drink this cup and mull over a very interesting offer that I just received.

*mull*

Fatal Beret (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it was worth a shot.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

*insert "espresso" joke here*

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's not.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

but today is Tuesday Pun Funday!

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe in Michigan, but not in LA. Puns are illegal in Southern California.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm. this could be true, and explain why Christopher Rios rose to rap prominence in the Bronx as opposed to East L.A...

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday was national clean off your desk day.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

that sounds dirty.

Fatal Beret (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup, keep 'em coming, folks.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The Skydivers to thread, of course.

"I like coffee."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I never did get any coffee.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

that's lunacee!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I thought.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

No coffee! A crime.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

A girl in my office went to Tim Ho's and bought me coffee this afternoon - without my asking. How nice is that?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

almost as nice as knowing that there's actually an establishment called Tim Ho's.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

is tim ho related to don ho?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim Ho's is to Tim Horton's as Mc D's is to Mc Donald's.

But really, a little hula with my coffee and donuts sounds pretty attractive right about now. I'm unbelievably cold.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

"tim ho" = best abbreviation EVAH!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

just to be self-effacingly pre-emptive...

Kim Ho (Kim), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Sadly, the same is true for Canadian Red Bull. Mountian Dew still has the sugar in spades though.

I hear Coke actually held out for a D.I.N. for their caffienated water beverage. Until then, its still bottles of Jolt if Tim Hortons can't be found.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:25 (twenty-two years ago)

the fuck? who would even consider drinking red bull if not for the caffeine?!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

No one.

Zac, wtf's a D.I.N.?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 14 January 2004 05:29 (twenty-two years ago)

REVIVE!
Because that's what I need! Because I slept in and had to run for the bus and haven't had a single sip yet today.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in yo. Coffee is definitely on the agenda.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

As soon as I got back, the power went out. Which was awesome. I'd hate to think of the redundancy if I had been forced to be idle on my coffee break.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't take a coffee break because i went home during my lunch break and ended up taking a two hour nap. soooooooooooooooo nice.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmmm, that sounds about a million times better than a measly cup o'coffee (the stuff they serve here is SWILL).

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

(though it's better than when I started, nearly 3 years ago!!!)

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

(or maybe my standards/expectations have just been lowered)

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Or maybe it's just been simmering for 3 years and gaining body.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmcoffee.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

blaeahah jetlagsleepdeprivation, I'm off to waffle house.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

wait for me, Teens.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 16 January 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Drug Identification Number to the best of my knowledge.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 17 January 2004 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hm. Right now I could go for some coffee. Good coffee.

As Sweet As Melody (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 17 January 2004 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Great vending machine coffee in Japan. I usually go for Georgia or Dydo.

lucas (lucas), Saturday, 17 January 2004 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anybody in this bitch know where the coffee is? I mean, real coffee WITH LIFEBLOOD, I MEAN CAFFINE, not this namby-pamby caffeine free mud my mum drinks! Where's the nearest Dunkin Donuts? Are we close enough to the border to get Tim Bits? Jet lag: classic or big fat major frigging dud of all duds?

the river fleet, Saturday, 17 January 2004 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

classic and dud at once, it's funny.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 17 January 2004 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)
